I’m from the same hometown as Kim. In Trelleborg they had an exhibition called “In Kim Walls footsteps” where you could see and read about her life and work. Really honoring her and the great things she accomplished rather then her horrific passing. I wish the media had done the same...

The fact that he murdered someone who actually DID believe in his work, to the degree she missed her own party. That is the worst part to me. Kim was so humble, always interested in other peoples achievements

So incredibly sad. What's worse is the justice system in Denmark. This MONSTER was sentenced to life in prison but the average life sentence over there for criminal homicide is around 20 years. I think after 10 years you get a chance of parole, too. But it's very unlikely that someone, even for murder, will serve out 30+ years in jail, especially just one murder and he's not a serial killer by definition... But yeah, this guy definitely deserves to rot under the jail for eternity...

i think the most devastating thing is that as a journalist of her standard, she’s been in so many much more dangerous situations where death was probably on her mind and as her family say they were scared for her safety - but she goes to an interview about rockets and submarines and that’s where she gets killed. i cannot comprehend that at all

I don't know if I can watch this. I think what happened to Kim is almost like a national trauma in Sweden. The claustrophobia of It all. The hatred of women her killer had. For the longest time I just wanted to apologize to Sweds.. As if I had anything to do with her killing!😩😓 But I was truely so sad for her, her fiance, her family, and for Sweden, because one of my countrymen killed one of yours! And also brutally! He is one of the truely scary man types/murderes that we almost only think about as living in the US. But sometimes they do appear in our own back yard! 😥 Only thing that makes me so happy, is how police handler it all, from both Denmark and Sweden! I love how our countries work so well together ❤️ Jeg sender alle kærlige tanker til alle Kims nære! Hun virkede i sandhed som et fantastisk menneske! ❤️🇩🇰🇸🇪

Just wanted to give a bit of insight from a Danish person: The Danish life sentence is on average 16 years with the possibility of parole after 12 years - yes - however in e.g. another of the absolute worst murder cases ever in Denmark; Peter Lundin who horrifically murdered his mother, wife and kids, the monster was sentenced in 2001 and is still imprisoned to this day (21 years so far). He had his first opportunity for parole 12 years after his sentencing, and multiple times hereafter, but has been denied every single one. So yes, most often the Danish life sentence is 16 years, however there is hope that this asshole will never get out.

Let's not forget he invited FOUR women to interview him that day, and Kim was the first to respond. This, combined with his dark fantasies and his google searches about beheading, makes it clearly premeditated. I strongly believe that one of those four women was going to die on the submarine that day.....and it happened to be Kim. 😔

Kim was such a talented and courageous journalist. It is so incredibly heartbreaking that while she traveled all around the world, risking her life to share other people’s untold stories, this monster had to take her life during an interview right before she was going to be leaving Denmark. 💔 My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. Rest in peace Kim. 💗 And thank you Bella for doing an excelsior job covering this case.

my family and I were on a boat tour of Copenhagen and the tour guide pointed to the submarine saying the guy who owns it is well known around here and he is his friend. So crazy to hear you talk about a case from my home country, when I've watched hours and hours of your videos these last few years! And I love how you empathized the fact that this case is extraordinarily crazy because Denmark is normally a really safe country. We so rarely have cases like these (especially absurd ones like this one) which is why this case was CRAZY big in the media and I just remember everyone following along press conferences and so on, to try and figure out what had happened. One of the (few) biggest and most infamous asshole pshycopaths ever in Denmark. (Side note: I love your pronunciation of the Danish city names xD)

Bella’s videos are so different from how others tell the stories of murder cases. Prime example is the JD Netflix series and many others where they focus so much on the killer rather than the victims. One little note is that the prison system in Denmark is built upon rehabilitation rather than punishment. It’s actually incredibly effective as their recidivism rates (reoffending after release and being put back in prison) are significantly lower than that of countries like the US where a punishment approach is taken. I highly recommend reading up on it more as it’s really fascinating and they have evidence to back up their methods proving it’s far more effective than the standard prison model like that in the USA.

I didn't know about this case until I watched a documentary on HBO Max. I never heard about it before which I was shocked about. I couldn't believe the crime he was responsible for. It was really sadistic. He used the interview to his advantage and used it to act out his sexual fantasy because she was the only one who agreed to go on the submarine. It's truly sick what he did to her and what he put her through during her last moments. The only reason he sunk the submarine was to hide evidence. It wasn't because he wanted to spare her family from the details. He was only thinking of himself. I really hope he's not granted parole after twelve years. He deserves to rot in prison for the rest of his life.

Kim's death is one that has affected me on a personal level despite the fact I never knew her. I think as a woman my heart aches for her because she just happened to be the one to take the fall for this monster's hatred of women. She worked so hard to make space for women in journalism only for a selfish, sick man to rip it all away- simply because of her gender. I hope beautiful Kim is resting at peace... her life work & legacy motivates me in my own line of work on a daily basis.

Just realized a Netflix documentary/movie about this case just came out in the U.S today I think? However, I like the way you tell it! may she also rest in peace, she did not deserve this.

Narcissists can be so stupid, thankfully. I wonder if this was his first murder. And what a stupid way to go about it. Unbelievable that he could be out so soon. It really is disturbing how the violent misogynistic porn is so readily available now right in your phones.

He saw her as an object. Probably didn't know anything about her. He had texted multiple other women that day and planned to victimise one of them.

If you take a life so viciously, particularly when it's premeditated, you should forfeit yours. Whether that's through capital punishment or natural life in prison, I think that should be left to the victim's family to decide. But *life* in prison should mean *the REST of your life* in prison.

Also a “fun fact”: Alledgedly one of his cellmates Said that Peter had bragged about killing other people, one of Them being a 17 year Old girl who went missing in Denmark and is still missing to this day. She is probably the biggest missing persons case as there’s no leads on it at it’s been like 5 years.
