Finally! a video from a man that really appreciates the trapper! This pattern has been around for over 100 years, it’s a very practical design that can be used for so many tasks.

My favorite knife pattern is the sod buster. I carry a trapper daily as well due to the fact that farm chores take more than one knife. My favorite blade on the trapper is the spay as well

My two favorites from Case are the Trapper and the Medium Stockman. I tend to carry both in leather slips.

The good old trapper was my first knife….I went to the flea market with by grandma I was seven years old visiting for the summer in clay county Alabama…I had five dollars with me and talked her into letting me buy one ….She was scared I would cut myself….When we were heading home I proceeded to cut myself pretty good and lost access to the knife for the remainder of the summer….Great video Sir.

@@theprestriedge4657 great story. Why are they always right when they say "you'll cut yourself"? That's what liquid band-aid is for. I've had some on my finger for a few days. My only complaint is that the buffing compound keeps getting stuck in it.

Great video! Had about 10 or so case knives a few years ago and sold them off. Been getting back into the hobby and have told myself this year I'm focusing on case knives again. Mostly Trappers a few razors and large stockmans. Your thoughts on why the trapper is so popular seem spot on! I love the trapper because it's a sleek two bladed knife. And feels great in hand with just enough blade to get the job done. Look forward to watching more of your videos.

Great video, man. Lots of really good perspectives on the Trapper. I always like watching videos of guys explaining how they carry their Trappers and what they use each blade for. I guess like most guys, the Trapper is one of my favorite patterns. Its a toss up between a trapper and stockman.

@ I bought a 032 pattern stockman after watching one of your videos maybe 3-4 weeks ago. I was thinking about getting one and your video was the straw the broke the camels back. It’s hasn’t left my pocket since I got it. I love all sizes of Stockmans but the pen blade on the 032 seals the deal for me.

I’m a trapper man, my dad always was and that’s why I always wanted one. If I could change one thing about the knife, is that I wish the Spey blade was as wide as the clip point. That’s just me. Maybe make the belly wider too like on the mini trapper but scaled up.

@@Csauls3378 Case is by far my favorite knife manufacturer. You'll find some on KZbin who practice knife "snobbery". The goal of a handmade "slipjoint" is usability, rather than "perfection". My goal is to show well made, good usable knives that can be used and enjoyed and don't cost a fortune. Glad to have you watching man. Feel free to comment all you want to 👍🏻👍🏻

I only have one trapper, the slim-line that has blade only and the blade is skinner(skimmer). It just happened to be the one that they had at the time and I had a gift certificate for Cabela's. Otherwise I would have ended up with the two bladed trapper instead. Of all the knives that I have it sharpens up the best. It's the only Case I have that isn't stainless steel

What a great in depth review of this iconic pattern! I appreciate the legacy and history of this pattern and agree with all your points about it. I personally choose not to carry this pattern due to its size and absence of a smaller blade. I enjoy these pattern reference videos and your take on them! 🙂👍🏻

I love the trapper. My boss gets me one every year for Christmas, and the company name and date are lazer etched on the blade. Needless to say I don't carry those. They're in the boxes in my knife drawer. If you don't mind me asking, what part of the country are you from? You have an interesting way of speaking.
