@@lilmilontiktok I think the quality dramatically changes each show. I really liked Loki and Wandavision, I thought Moon Knight was OK, She Hulk was bad and the others were forgettable for me. I really like The Mandalorian, thought Kenobi was decent and Book of Boba was a mess. Andor is so far above average for me

Syril creeps me out in the biggest way and I love that he talked about it as a man who is looking for something but also acknowledged that the way he's doing it isn't healthy. Syril isn't evil for the sake of having a bad guy, Soller made him a full person with his own motivations and that makes him much more threatening.

Its so nice to see actors talking about roles they really enjoy and are unequivocally proud of in a Star Wars project. It's been a while. Not since Rogue One. This is it Disney. Keep doing this.

As someone who has been a lifelong star wars fan, and a theater and stage performer and writer - this show was a virtual masterpiece. The actors turned in an incredibly performance - amazing what can be done with a coherent story and plot combined with excellent directing with vision.

What Adria said about “strong” is different from “tough” I fully agree with. Most strong women these days in movies are trying to be tough, whereas Andor makes believable strong female characters
@rowanaforrest9792
@rowanaforrest9792 Жыл бұрын
Yes! A mistake that a lot of actresses make is that if they're playing a "strong" woman, they act rather masculine. The actresses on Andor are doing a great job of being strong but still feminine.
@soakedbearrd
@soakedbearrd Жыл бұрын
Agree 100%. Let’s be honest here, women are attracted to males that show their masculine side (not over done of course) and men are attracted to women that show their feminine side. There are always exceptions, but that’s how the world has always worked, yin/yang. Too much yin power and it’s an issue. Too much Yang power and it’s an issue. We should celebrate our differences not try and constantly blur the line. What’s missing is the divine feminine, replaced by the substitute masculine. What missing is the prime masculine, substituted by focus-less non offensive feminine male.
@nuxkamina
@nuxkamina Жыл бұрын
@@rowanaforrest9792 what is masculine? These are made up social constructs, concepts to box people into acting a certain way.
@rowanaforrest9792
@rowanaforrest9792 Жыл бұрын
@@nuxkamina The words/concepts "masculine" and "feminine" have had meaning in every language and culture world-wide since human beings existed, and they still do. Have they always meant exactly the same thing in every age and era in every society? No, but they have always had generally understood meaning in every society. You can argue about it, you can resent it, but these words/concepts are a permanent and natural part of humanity.

The fact that this is not more universally considered one of the best pieces of television ever made is really sad to me. I’ve watched it more times than I can count and I still feel the same way as seeing it the first time. What’s more sad is we’ll only get 2 seasons.

Adria sums up the difference between tough and strong with female roles that has been an issue lately and has turned off a lot of fans. I for one agree with her 100%. Her character is strong, wise, ethical, and doesn’t back down. These are qualities that shine in women. I am not saying all women roles should be that way, what I am saying is that too many of the women characters now a days follow a masculine direction. Nothing wrong with that if it’s done in pockets, but not when the majority of women roles presently seem to be “I can do and be everything a man can be”. There are differences in genders, a man would never be a true mother to his children. A man will never be as graceful as a woman. Never is a tough word, there are exceptions. A woman warrior can beat most man non warriors, as an example. A man can be as graceful as a woman, but that’s exception not the common. What characters like Bix and Mon bring to the table is the divine feminine, something that was replaced with the substitute masculine. Also there is nothing wrong with the prime masculine, a good example is Brasso, tough, stoic, but kind and gentle to his friends and family and fiercely protective and dangerous when he needs to be. He is a man of duty and sacrifice. That’s not toxic masculinity (which we can see somewhat with Saw, but his back story shows why he is that way). Point is we have archetypes for a reason. Roles were important for a reason, it reinforces our strengths, and supports our weakness. I’m sure many will disagree with me, but this I think is why shows like this work. Take Dedra for instance, she isn’t tough for the sake of being girl power. She’s tough because she’s competent, brilliant and ruthless in her cause. One would say those are masculine traits, but it’s works because it ties into the story, isn’t outright obvious and they show some weakness in that sense (the finale, when she’s attacked). She also second guesses herself, which adds humanity. She isn’t the strongest, the most sure, more competent even among males, she isn’t the smartest, or the one with all the answers, she’s a human that’s perfect for her duty and happens to be a woman. That’s how you do it.

See that the problem with this culture being soft is seen as an offense. And women need to be strong as man to be accepted in society. You don't see man saying i don't want to be so strong and it's good just showing softness and crying. That would be ridiculous.
