The Cast of NEWSIES Pulls Off the BEST April Fool's Prank

The cast of the National Tour of NEWSIES (currently playing at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre) pulled off the PERFECT April Fool's prank by performing LIVE ON STAGE down the street at the El Capitan Theatre immediately following a screening of the original 1992 Film! Nobody in the theatre knew what was gonna happen...not even original film director, Kenny Ortega!

I would have LOVED to see Newsies (1992) at the El Capitan! That theater is so much fun, and I love the fun extra stuff they have for people who come to see films there. For the Narnia movies, they had a fun exhibit with real props from the film downstairs. For Beverly Hills Chihuahua (I did not choose to go see that LOL, it was a birthday party), they had the real dogs from the film perform tricks on stage. I wonder what they did for Newsies, seeing how the live dance number was not a part of the paid program.

How did they not know if the description when buying a ticket to see the movie said that the tour will be performing?

It was a surprise performance. They bought a ticket to see the movie and thought that was it. What I don't get is that if you're a fan of newsies and the cast is in town why aren't you going to see the tour instead of the old movie.
