There's something that caught my attention about the Abyssal Corruption. Chiyo the Oni, Takamine the Mistsplitter and Durin --- and by extension Dvalin too --- characters that were corrupted by Abyssal energy According to Durin's POV, he felt that he was dreaming a long dream, where he was singing along Barbatos. But didn't realize that he was already attacking Mondstadt. Chiyo, one of Ei's friends, was swallowed by "beast of sin" --- possible of another of Gold's creations. She managed to killed it from within, but was corrored by dark energy, and quickly turned to attack Ei. Takamine, the original owner of the Thundering Pulse and Mistsplitter sword. Was overwhelmed by the Abyss, however, he managed to keep his mind stable enough to remember his promise to Hibiki. It seems that being corrupted by the Abyss doesn't exactly turn you evil. But twist your senses and view of reality --- meaning that you saw your allies as enemies, and not longer able to tell time, reality from fantasy. And there's Dvalin, he wasn't exactly evil. Of all the contrary, he was the same as before, but his negative emotions were manipulated by the Abyss Order. He was attacking Mondstadt out of anger because the people forgot Barbatos. Meaning that as long you holding onto a strong emotion, you can still keep your humanity or sanity long enough.

I wonder if the Black Mud in The Chasm could also be a form of Abyssal Corruption. Considering the effects of the mud had on everyone. But what also caught my attention, was that the Black Mud had the same purple aura as the Abyss Twin's sword. Could they be connected?

@@celineosthaus8032 I wouldn't say that the Foul Legacy is the same as corruption. Is Abyssal energy harnessed and controlled by the user's strenght, however, similar to the Delusions it takes a lot of energy from it.

That one reptilian shrine maiden from the Enkanomiya offerings event said something along the lines of "Abyssal poison is toxic to both Vishaps and humans, but rather 'intoxicating' to the monsters of the abyss." Abyssal corruption might act like some kind of drug, twisting the victim's sense of reality as you said. Some will take it better than others, depending on how much exposed and for how long. Another example is the Bloodstained Knight, formerly called the white knight.

PERSONALLY, just looking at all the Ruin machines they left behind, ESPECIALLY THE RUIN GOLEMS IN SUMERU, that’s enough for me. I’m gonna say I understand why they did. Someone did a speculative size comparison of the Ruin Golem, and it looks like it was the size of Stormterror’s Lair, if not bigger. It would probably treat the Jade Chamber like a basketball. Yeah, no. I get it, Celestia. And goddamnit. Ei is one of my favorite characters and hearing her talk about Saiguu again made me cry.

I think that Venti propably cannot tell us all that much, we know Venti and Dvalin fought Durin together and both got poisoned and had to rest after. If Durins attack on Mondstadt was at a similar time as the attack of the abyssal creatures on Inazuma the other gods were likely already at Khaenri'ah or on the way there. The timeline could be slightly different to enable him to be present too but not unlikely that he was not there. I wonder tho what Venti did directly after the cataclysm. For how long did he rest at Windrise? When did his later travels happen and did he return to sleep after those before reawakening to help the corrupted Dvalin? There is a story about him swapping out the Staff of the Cryo Archon for a Hilichurl Club/Scepter and one where it is heavily implied that he safed Xiao in Liyue, both had to happen after the cataclysm. I would love to get more details on all that in future quests.

The story you mentioned about the Cryo Archon's staff is fake. Venti made it up. It's revealed in the next part of his character story. As for Xiao, yes, he did save him. From the teaser about the adepti, to Xiao's story & voice lines, we know this. Venti was shown in the teaser playing the flute, which was how he saved Xiao. The story goes that Xiao was overwhelmed by "divine hatred", causing him to fall to the ground in pain. But it all vanished when a flute began to play. Xiao knew that only one of The Seven could play such a song that calmed his agony. So, he figured out, it had to be Barbatos who played the flute and saved him from being consumed by hate. In his voice lines, Xiao says in his "About Venti" voice line, "Venti? So that's the name he goes by. His tunes are... forget it." Which is assumed to be him remembering the clear sound of the flute, but not wanting to admit it. Xiao's namecard also reads, "He longs for a day to come where he will wear the mask and dance - not to conquer demons, but to the tune of that flute amid a sea of flowers." It's also interesting that his voice line is called "About Venti" instead of "About Barbatos", and how he says "Venti? So that's the name he goes by." It implies that someone told him, likely the traveler, about Barbatos being a bard who goes by Venti. Venti saving Xiao is why we Xiaoven shippers exist.

The Abyss invaded the skies of Mondstadt, the mines of Liyue, the seas of Inazuma skies = anemo(?) mines = geo(?) seas, where thunderstorms form (electro?) maybe the Abyss invaded Sumeru from its woodlands and rainforests Edit: on a side note, the Viridescent Venerer's lore seems to have taken place in a forest somewhere in Teyvat that is somehow connected to the God of Woods, where the Venerer met the blind dying boy and decided to fight the monsters appearing from the Cataclysm on the boy's behalf. Maybe this same forest is located in Sumeru(?)

@@hellohello-cr8ur Dendro and Hydro archons died, according to ingame infos. There's the suspect ( so is speculation territory) that the original dendro archon is alive, but injured too severely to the point of putting a decoy in his place. We'll see.

It was pointed out in game on what happened to the OG Electro Archon, and according to lore, the OG Dendro Archon died because he/she was trying to protect the border of Teyvat against the monsters, and unfortunately he/she failed and the monsters made a mess all throughout Teyvat.

Chiyo's fate is described in-game in the "Mask of the Kijin;" Ei cut off her sword-arm and one of her horns when she drew her sword on the Narukami Ogosho, and then she fled into the wilderness where she's speculated to have been killed by any number of different warriors---up to and including the Maguu Kenki, which would imply that she wandered in the wilderness for quite some time with her death never being confirmed. Also, the iron meteorite that struck the Chasm could have been a remnant of one of the two destroyed moons. It would basically be a hunk of a dead god, and we know what kind of nastiness that can create...

One of the two moons? I heard that the moon sisters died and their corpses were found in three different places. According to some data miners, a corpse is found in the Abyss, one in Teyvat and the final one in Celestia if I remember correctly. When we go to the depths of Spiral Abyss, we can see a full moon there. We can also see a full moon in Teyvat's sky. It is confirmed that the moon seen in Teyvat is indeed a corpse. As of the one in Abyss and Celestia, who knows? Idk if that's what you're talking about though

The account from "Mitternschts Waltz" says that two of the three Moons were shattered by something that broke through the False Sky(the Second Throne), but Fischl(probably Istaroth) tried to bring them back as Sinshades. The last seems to have been killed beforehand; "Legend of the Shattered Halberd" vol 6, which you get from Xingqiu's story quest so it can't be missed, identifies the titular "shattered halberd" as Irmin, progenitor of the Irminsul and almost certainly the Shade of Reason/Logos. They were killed by the machinations of the Celestial Emperor(the Moon/Shade running Celestia) and made into weapons. We also know that the Moon in the sky is related to the Ley Lines, since it's where the Tsurumi Boatman takes Sinshades to become stars/Visions, so it is probably Irmin's moon rather than one of the other Sisters'.

I always just thought that the Yaksha that lived was the Pyro one since in the trailer it showed Geo and Hydro fighting each other and probably dying and Electro turning evil but the Pyro one was only shown to go insane so that to me could make sense for it to leave and vanish without a trace until doing it’s thing in the chasm

I do believe that hilichurls have existed for a long time, there was just a sudden boom in their population during the cataclysm. So they did exist before the downfall of Khaenriah.

The Abyss seems to have openings all over Teyvat. Consider how Childe fell into and got stuck in the Abyss (heh) in the first place. He fell through a Crack not long after leaving his home. And while the Spiral Abyss might have no connection, it could be a possibility that it is connected to the Abyss. The Chasm could also be connected to the Abyss, considering how important it was and how deep it went. If the recent Archon Quest is anything to go by. Tsurumi Island is home, currently, to the Golden Wolf Lord, an Abyssal beast. Perhaps Tsurumi, due to its heavy fog and vagueness, was a base for Abyssal forces. I also wonder what the Abyss Order's beef with Mondstadt. They seem to solely target the city and the region. They are considered a bigger threat than the Fatui when we first arrive. Does the Abyss Order hate Mondstadt because the city itself reminds them of Khaenri'ah? It is the City of Freedom and Wind, where most people thought their Archon, Barbatos, abandoned them. But the difference between Khaenri'ah and Mondstadt, is that Mondstadt still worships their Archon, Khaenri'ah abandoned the gods.

Mondstadt seems to have had closer connections to the old Khaenri'ah, maybe even before Barbatos defeated Decarabian. Perhaps it had trade relationships with Mondstadt, which was a frozen land back then, since Khaenri'ah seems to have a network of entrances all over Teyvat trading with them would probably be advantageous, and Mondstadt seems to have some cultural exchange with them as well since the rulling clans of Mondstadt have northern-European sounding names and the new items dropped by some abyss enemies look like north-European art.

Something to note, is that Khaen'riah is most likely based on Norse Mythology- Dainsleif is a sword- that once is unsheathed, must take a life. The Twilight Sword is apparently the title for the fire demon Surtr's sword [I could be wrong] Halfdan is also a norse name, meaning “Half Danish” There's also Egill and Agnarr [name of Abyss Lectors, if I remember correctly] both of which is also norse names, Also, Khaen'riah's destruction bears some similarities with Ragnarok. The nation, according to the wiki, is probably based on a norse/germanic poem? [something about Siegfried and his death, I think] If we connect everything together, could this potentially be a huge insight into the storyline's future?

What I’m really curios tho, is the traveller’s twin. She was there when the cataclysm happened, and, after the fall of the kingdom, woke up the traveller, and attempted to leave teyvat. We were separated by the unknown god, and while we were looking by the sea fishing till’ we got eventually met paimon, they became the prince/princess of the abyss. My point is, what exactly were they doing when the traveller was asleep, and what were their ties with khaenri’ah. Im guessing they contributed a major part of the creation of the kingdom, or something enough to make the people of khaenri’ah even entrust the position of leader to her in the first place.

From the “We will be reunited” video, we can only see traces of the sustainer of heavenly principles and not the archons. Personally, I like to think that during the cataclysm, the archons were too busy fighting of Rhindotter’s monsters in their nations and can’t really go to Khaenri’ah. But Celestia called some of the archons to fight in Khaenri’ah. This is because it is their punishment, kinda like Orobashi. Why would they get punished, idk but thats what I just think

Side note: Little is said about the Expedition of the Knights of Favonius during the cataclysm. After defeating a good part of the monsters that were attacking the nation, the Grandmaster took a large part of the army and marched to Kaenria'h to end the source of all the monsters. They managed to take the battle to Kaenri'ah itself, but it was there that they took many of the casualties, including the Grandmaster's right-hand man. It was there when the worst happened, with the bulk of the favonius knights fighting in Kaenri'ah and only a small part to continue defending the city, the Dragon Durin entered a berserker state and began to devastate everything. That's when Barbatos and Dvalin stepped in and finished off Durin, ultimately freeing the artificial dragon from the abyss energy that controlled his mind.

I was thinking about an artificial world. Like the book before sun and moon said, we have void realm and light realm whichs the primordial one create the human realm in between. From the multiverse description of hoyoverse, light realm can be the imaginary tree, elemental, divine, pure and void realm is the sea of quanta, the embodiment of entropy, decay, death, erosion. Because we can see thay genshin is vastly different from other honkai contain universe is that the original energy here is not corrupted. Maybe it is a part from the imaginary tree thay have been extracted, reform and grow follow the will of phanes and primordial one to make an artificial "leaf" then grafted onto the tree itself. Since this "leaf" is not like other one, it does not contain the flow of honkai (mechanism to eliminate old world/unqualify world like antibodies eliminate old cell to avoid cancer). The sustainer of heaven can be the anti-cancer agent set for this world by phanes themselves but not by honkai. But for some reason at long last primordial one lose to another high level being. This being very concern for the health of imaginary tree so they try to limit the knowledge and civilisation of teyvat to prevent cancer happen to the tree. At the same time this artificial world has a major flaw, it not entirely isolate from the sea of quanta, and now the denizen of khaenriah unknowingly invite the power which reverse all creation of the multiverse it self to their world, the decay, the entropy, the death of worlds

Because it was Celestia's idea in the first place to destroy it, and that caused a lot of deaths, it was even the war that killed the OG Electro and Dendro Archon, and it was also the war that caused the Tsaritsa to change her heart and perspective of the world and cut ties with all the other Archons of Teyvat, and because of that, she created the Fatui.

with all I read in the chasm I has a slight feeling kaenri'ah mightve been around liyue bc of the nail and the erratic formations which remind of the sustainers cubes in that cinematic. but idk, I'm just assuming things, because that's how I felt abt it. also think the curse dain talks about with erosion is the same thing plaguing zhongli that he got when Celestia casted it on kaenri'ah. so I hope it can be reversed one day. but aren't curses odd for Celestia? curses usually associated with the dark, so it makes more sense as an abyss power. is it possible 2nd throne is...of the void realm?

It sounds weird. Dainslaif himself said that the ruins are older than the ones found in Khaenri'ah. The state we find in the Chasm's civilisation is probably related to the aftermath of the war between the Primordial Ones and the Second who came, for which strangely, the Primordial one and three of their shades turned a whole 180° attitude so abruptly as if they are pressed to mask something from the civilisations like Enkonomiya

Makoto was summoned to Khaenriah due to the need of the seven. Sadly, it was also the place where she lost her life, she was a gentle God, she only had Ei to protect her, but Ei wasn't an Archon at that time, and Makoto must've left Ei for a reason to protect Inazuma while she's away. It was also the time Rukkhadaveta lost her life, imagine losing two Gods at the same time. I am really up for the history and lore of the Cataclysm.
