Stephen Curry is like MJ. He changed the way basketball is played. There are many fantastic players like Kobe, Lebron, and Dwade who followed the footsteps of other greats perfectly, and surpassing them in some areas. But very few players in the history of basketball started a trend that changed the league forever, Curry is one of them.

And Klay's off-ball movement is the key to their mutual deadliness, too--I mean, rather, that both players need to be lights-out shooters, both need to be good to amazing finishers (thankfully Klay really picked up that part of his game after his first two years) but if you take away Klay's off-ball movement and force all the offensive output to flow through Curry, then the right type of top defensive team can negate enough of what makes him deadly to win in 6 in the Finals. If we'd had even Eric Paschall that year, we'd have taken the chip from the Raptors. And I truly hope to God Kerr and the Splash Brothers can train the new kids on the team (Poole who has way more potential and a much higher ceiling than most realize, EP the iso bully, and now Oubre and Ender, and the rookies the Dubs just drafted... even Mulder could really help his game as a 3-point gunslinger) to move off-ball even half as brilliantly as Steph and Klay do.

His creative ball handling, layups, and Magic Johnson-ish court vision passing are underrated... to speak nothing of his shooting. IQ is off the charts. Sees the play before it happens. Custom Fire you can apply that logic to essentially anything in life. Besides, while he is only putting the ball in a hoop, it’s how he does it that is impressive. There’s a reason players don’t dunk every possession; because they can’t.

Someone should remind Kerr how deadly Steph/KD pick n' roll was. He is yet to use it this playoffs!
@holymsophy5 жыл бұрын
@callmecatalyst um. Only thing wrong with your assessment of "everyone involved" is that since KD reintroduced himself it's been an offense run through KD. KD has been taking as much shots as Steph and Klay combined. When the offense runs through KD everyone becomes a ball watcher. Interestingly, though KD is deadly and consistent, teams would rather die at KD's hands than at Steph's. Why? When Steph goes nuclear, you've got no chances. But that's beside the point. They've been repeating a lot of plays, some times they run the same play back to back. So it's not about the other team not figuring it out. And if they really wanted everyone to be involved, they are more so when Curry plays point.

And not only that. I think the underrated part of the defensive attention he demands is even when he's not shooting, these teams are still double and tripling him so hard that it creates a gravity that allows him to easily set up his teammates with either a hockey assist or it leaves someone else more open than they would be if he had single coverage.

If they can stay in front with him, it’s easy for guys to defend him. Now whether or not he makes a shot in their face is something else entirely, but his impact on the game is incredible because he can be 0-15 and you still can’t risk leaving him. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kyle Korver are the greatest at moving without the ball.

The true MVP. His shooting range destroys any NBA defense and makes it impossible to stop his teammates from getting easy looks. Combine that with elite finishing at the rim, elite passing and excellent defensive IQ and you will struggle mightily to beat the Dubs. Does not hurt that he plays with Durant. who is arguably a CO-MVP, the best SG in the game and the best defensive player in the game. No wonder the Warriors can only be defeated by injuries. If I was the NBA dictator, I'd split the MVP between Steph, KD and Giannis. It is just too hard to figure out who makes a bigger impact on winning.

@@cassandragrisby8605 I'd classify him as a PG (super ball hog) but he does not reach Klay to the knees defensively and Klay is a much better shooter. Just look at the stats. So no, I'd rather have Klay as my SG. He just plays the game the right way while Harden is so iso dependent that he can't be put in a system. Like LBJ, he has to be the system, and that does not lead to many rings, especially if they face a system team in the playoffs (Spurs & GSW). The system teams win 9 times out of 10. @Shaun Katon firstly, 8 isn't a reasonable sample size. Stats requires both 10 failures and 10 successes to really draw any information from a sample Secondly, Curry doesn't need to hit shots to produce Some other great engines over time are: Magic playmaking, Lebron finishing, Kareem posting Curry is fundamentally different from those 3 fantastic engines, because he doesn't need to perform to produce If those 3 guys aren't getting it done in those situations those things cease to be great engines, if Curry isn't hitting shots people still stick to him and give his teammates space Also it helps that this works both on and off ball. Defenses panic when Curry has the ball opening lanes and when he doesnt have it his gravity keeps them open anyways This is all without mentioning how well he scores with this tool. Curry is as efficient with his shot as Shaq was in the post during his prime So Shaq like efficiency with portability and significant off-ball value means that his shooting is the greatest weapon ever

I got Steph as the best point guard ever. Then Magic, Isaiah, Paul, and Stockton. West, Robertson, Nash, Kidd, and Iverson in the top 10 but I don’t know what order. I put Curry over everyone because of his impact on the game of basketball and because he’s not just the best shooter in history, he’s the best shooter in history by a mile. He’s made 3.56 three pointers per game for his career. Klay is second at 2.92 and only 3 other players are within an entire made 3 per game. He’s 6th all time in 3 point percentage at .434, but has more attempts than the 5 players ahead of him combined. His 2015-‘16 campaign is the best shooting season ever, and it’s not even close. He attempted over 200 more threes than anyone else and was second to J.J. Reddick in percentage at .454. Only James Harden’s 378 made threes in 2018-‘19 comes within 100 of the 402 Steph made that year. He was on silly mode all season and the Warriors went 73-9 because of it.
