Hi Mate, I'm a long time fan of your work. A Hyundai Rimac edition car would be the bomb. Like Renault Clio Williams. Mercedes SLR McLaren. Be it a humble AWD hatchback that clubbers the Nurburgring records or more of a Kia Stinger kind of car, decked out, taken to a level it would not be expected to go. But I'm sure in the mean time you're having a lot to do with the better developments in affordable BEVs. Hopefully not the slower charging new Ioniq :-D

Hope to work at Rimac in future!

I really like the concept of developing literally everything from ground-up. Many times this will cost a lot more than just buying existing parts, but then again the company has full control of every single part. I wonder: Does Rimac also do ASICs (application specific integrated circuits) themself? Like engineering individual chips for ECUs and such.

One of the biggest consideration, when you look into autonomous driving that people generally don't think about is that there are more than just cars and trucks on the road commuting. For instance, how can vehicles like a motorcycle or a bicycle which predominantly depends on the rider for control co-exist on the road? What do you think will be a solution?

Even if the future of the automotive industry mainly involves mass production of autonomous vehicles; this is a sector that Rimac could come to excel at. There is a lot of room for innovation in the vehicle manufacturing space. Much of the automotive industry has outsourced most of the vehicle parts. There is an opportunity to significantly reduce the cost of manufacturing autonomous electric vehicles by designing vehicles from the ground up to be used as part of a commercial autonomous vehicle fleet. Rimac should partner with companies such as Foxconn (who are looking to develop expertise in advanced robotics and electric vehicles) to start manufacturing vehicles in higher volume. Rimac should also try to attract investments from companies such as Apple/Google, Amazon, Ford, Groupe PSA, etc.

Continuing the topic of autonomous cars and ownership of cars, the concept of cars as mobility service is plausible for big cities in developed countries. However still billions of people live in rural areas, villages and small towns. Or the urban areas are very spread-out like in North America. Vehicles for commercial use would also be used for a long time. In my opinion mobility service would coexist with traditional ownership for a long time. But the world doesn't need so many new cars and the corporations know it. Cheap cars would be a thing of the past as the corporations increase the margins in order to increase their revenues, when the sales drop. It's already happening in Europe with the VW UP, Citroen C1 and their variants from the other brands in the groups.

How does your electric motor compare to Tesla? Which is most efficient? I understand and agree with the battery. However, why not make a wall to the roof. I understand your car has power to all 4 wheels and independent. You have motors in the center of the vehicle. Why not use in wheel motors in each wheel? That may give you more space in the center for battery capacity.

Hello RimacAutomobili, I was wondering what is the estimated battery life in total, for how many years they are usable? What will happen to them after their lifespan is ended? I guess they are partially recyclable but what is the percentage of non recyclable material and what is the impact on the environment of that material? Consequently, are the batteries good choice for mass production like Tesla cars? (i am aware you are not interested in mass production) Uzgred, auto je terapija za oči. Pozrdav i velika podrška za ceo tim
@utkarshanand97064 жыл бұрын
I do believe that companies like Uber and Tesla are competitors, because of the fact that those interested in an Affordable electric car right now (when they're not so good with their charging speed and range) are the ones that are concerned about the environment and that group is generally reluctant to use it's own vehicles, for the reasons you mentioned (The customer base for ride sharing services is bigger than that though). In my opinion, it shouldn't even have been a market, as of yet, because quite frankly, tech isn't there yet. So, the real innovation which is economically sustainable is going to come in the market where Rimac is currently operating and it will slowly trickle down as batteries becomes more energy dense and their mass production becomes easier. However, predicting the future of owned vehicles isn't that simple. It depends on the market sentiment. As opposed to people in most of Europe and half of America, people aren't really concerned about the impact on the environment in most of South East Asia. To be honest, climate change theories aren't even scientific and the contribution of humans to it is unknown. It's merely a speculation and the data models have all been completely wrong until now. So, owning a car is still like a dream come true for most people in South East Asia and that's something people are willing to work extra for. It also uplifts your status in your family and I don't see that going anywhere soon, because of the fact that younger generation generally buys vehicles to roam around (at places where ride sharing won't take you, or pick you up or at least be readily available as and when you want, i.e. it gives you much more flexibility with where you want to go) with friends and the joy that it brings more than overshadows any concerns about environmental impacts. People aren't as paranoid here as they are in Europe. Owned cars are still going to be a thing at least for a generation or two. Another reason is the infrastructure, which isn't going to come, unless the demand crosses a certain threshold due to some drastic change, like batteries becoming way too efficient, gasoline prices skyrocketing etc. One scenario in which owned cars could become a history is that a disruptive model is introduced which makes it incredibly cheap for people to use ride sharing. That isn't likely either, because, currently, all of them are taking a loss and don't have a path to profitability. Besides, they compete with Auto-rickshaws in South East Asia, which are dirt cheap because of the fact that that's the only price most people can afford. As for autonomous cars, it's impossible that they're going to make any impact in India in the next decade or two, even at the higher end, because of the roads and the way people drive and walk. Overall, it's going to take something really disruptive on the tech side and not just market sentiment, to make that future possible and it can only happen if you do things in the right order, i.e. with a sustainable business model. Simply throwing money at it, like Tesla, has very less chances of working. You have to be lucky enough for that to work.

Congratulations on your company and its success. I would like to own a Rimac someday but I'll not ever have $1M to spend. Do you think Rimac will ever make a $100K or so car? Kind of like the Model S or X? I'm sure it would be special. BTW I'm buying my own Tshirt.

Hello Mate! First of all, a great job setting up the company! I am a fan of yours, like Cristian von Koenigsegg. I wanted to ask you, how much money in total, approximately of course, it costs you to build a supercar from scratch, so using parts from other manufacturers and/or building them yourself as for example the integrated circuits, buttons, steering column indicator switch, electric motors and bateries as you did in Concept 1, and how much money, including facilities, engineer salaries, hardware and software, it cost you to build your first Concept 1, as you did yourself. Which are the most important steps you can advise in the early stages and the strategy. What software you need to build que design and then digital 3D car model. How much does it cost and, ones more, in your second video you said than with Concept 1 you didn´t do the crash testes and the complete homologation, how can it posible to sale the car if it haven´t hologated it? It would be nice to explaining everything in a video, specifying all those first steps when it comes to building a Concept 1 from scratch, at the business as at the car building levels, and the most important advises and of course the approximate cost, if possible please. Waiting your answer. Best regards!
