1:15:36 According to the Zelda wiki, the Shrine names are anagrams of the developers’ names!

that is a cool detail. I always assumed it was an ancient language they created.
@Nat_the_Chicken

I know the names are different in different languages, adapted to make more phonetic sense while still conveying a mysterious vibe, so this may be situational and not always true of the English names compared to the Japanese names. There are a few that are easy to spot though, like Oman Au, the Great Plateau Magnesis shrine.
@mattotis8412
@mattotis8412 Жыл бұрын
I had wondered that too when the question came up. It seemed the most logical choice that shrines would be named after devs (or rather anagrams of their names). Also I remember that 'I am Lord Voldemort' was an anagram of Tom Marvolo Riddle.

One of the things that makes that Kass scene so special is that for the whole rest of the game, Kass has acted like Link is just some random traveler he keeps bumping into everywhere. None of the Rito were around during the Calamity, and most of them don't actually know the whole story, including Kaneli, who calls Link a "champion descendant." The Zora all know because they live much longer, and most, if not all, of the Sheikah know because Impa told them all about the sleeping swordsman and the Slate. Purah and Robbie and their helpers know, of course, but other than that the only character to figure it out is Riju, who had heard about the Shrine of Resurrection from her mother. The rest of the Hylians, Gerudo, Gorons, and Rito, including Yunobo and Teba, all just assume Link is an extremely ambitious and powerful warrior. But Kass knew the whole time, via his teacher, a Hylian who must have already been old by the time he took him as a pupil. He's been flying around Hyrule at breakneck pace to find all the spots mentioned in the songs his teacher managed to recover, just so he can provide Link with hints to help him get a few extra spirit orbs, while pretending he's just randomly encountered him over and over again. Finally, at the end, he admits via his song that he knew everything, including about the Shrine of Resurrection, exactly what happened when Zelda's power awoke, and what's happening now with Link waking up and trying to grow stronger and take on Ganon. Their later choice to make Kass such an integral part of the Champions' Ballad quest messes with it a bit, because players can complete that at any time without having done the rest of his quests yet, so they wrote all his dialogue as if he were still pretending not to know. A lot of the lore integration of CB is a little shoddy, but I did especially like the Champion diaries they added.
@Casin

That scene made me cry when I first found it tbh lol. It was always so fun to run into Kass around the world so having an actual meaningful chat with him made me really emotional. 😂 Especially when he turns to you and addresses you as the knight. EDIT: Just thinking about it more: I think why the moment hits me is bc it recontextualizes your encounters. It means Kass wasn’t just a random fellow traveller you bump into. At some point he figured out who you were and was actively helping you find shrines to complete your mission, without ever revealing what he was up to. Like a guardian angel 🥲.
@Nat_the_Chicken
@Nat_the_Chicken Жыл бұрын
@@Casin I think he might have known as soon as he saw Link. Not many Hylians confidently explore remote places while taking out enemies left and right; I imagine it's not so unusual for a Rito, since they can cover more distance and escape danger more easily, but the Hylian NPCs tend to stick to the roads.
@sharondornhoff7563
@sharondornhoff7563 9 ай бұрын
@@Casin It also does a lot to redeem Kass, for those who disliked how he's been wandering the world rather than at home caring for and supporting his family. Yes, it's rough on his wife and daughters for him to be away during a very tense time for the Rito and everyone else in Hyrule, but when the towers and shrines were activated and the Beast at the castle became terrifyingly active, Kass knew that locating and dropping hints for Link was the surest way he could contribute to keeping his loved ones safe.

2:18:20 - Loved watching you fumble around with the door opening multiple times LOOOOL Not sure if you noticed (or anyone else commented this) but I believe where you ended up placing the sword is an optional connection in the "intended" solution. If you remove the power, the platform stops moving up and down, and if the platform gets stopped at the top, I think the small box would stay there and keep that circuit connected so you wouldn't have to see the cutscene multiple times (and maybe also access that chest in the other locked area)!

Regarding mounting and taming horses and animals, it is a common misconception that it takes a certain amount of stamina to tame them. It is actually based on the number of times you push the Soothe button. So, mash the button faster and it will take a lot less stamina :)

1:39:49 Seeing Revali crouched in the snow, readying his ascension, gives me Man of Steel vibes. You may remember that iconic scene when Kal puts his fist to the snow and a whirlwind slowly builds. It was one of my favorite scenes from that movie. I actually just finished a move, just elsewhere right here in River City. I also don't have as far to walk to a Dollar General and thankfully the Goobers are back in stock. I just polished off a box during the wind trials. Time constraints have me otherwise watching these episodes in doses. I have...important paperwork to fill out. I'm looking forward to making it to the finale though and Tears of the Kingdom.

I know it's a bit late, but taming is a mashing challenge. Dear, Horse, and other tamable creatures have a set number of soothings (with some variance) you have to do. So if you mash sooth fast enough you can theoretically tame almost any creature with 1.5 wheels of stamina.

2:17:38 I think you could just leave the moving platform on air by removing the weapon you've used as initial conductor to raise it, and leave the small metal block on the platform to continue commute electric current through. Your video motivated me to finally finish the Champion's Ballad myself so as not see spoilers here. I absolutely love hearing classic Zelda themes hidden in BOTW soundtrack. I applaud you on brute forcing that one shrine at 1:20:00, you made it very hard for yourself yet managed to succeed anyway. It's one of the things I love in this game, you don't have to do the puzzles only one way. If it works, it's not stupid! Now I'm torn if I want play TOTK myself before watching your videos to avoid spoilers (but I'm sure I won't have that much time and FOMO is going to be so real) or if I just watch it first to get the idea of how the game works so I'm not as lost in the beginning. For the electricity shrine where the end-gate kept opening and closing, you could have moved the metal piece that activated the platform when the platform was all the way at the top without replacing it. It would have allowed you to complete the circuit at the top of the platform, and platform itself would have stayed in the up position. You would then no longer need that offshoot of the circuit. Instead of the metal box moving up and down, it would have then stayed up and been consistently sending the charge through. That's just in case you wondering how it was intended though. Honestly if you get through, that's all that really matters! Also, that was really hard to describe without a visual aid so I hope it made any freaking sense at all lol!

I've come back to say I find it really funny that they made Kass the character that brings the soundtrack into the game. Like we, as the player, obviously hear the themes of the Champions, but- in universe- the characters don't, making Kass being like "I wrote this song to channel the feeling of these Champions" a somewhat funny level of "fourth wall break" that I love.

when you were fighting thunderblight in its second stage, you can actually flurry, you have to backflip out of the way. the flurry rush is very specific sometimes, the prime example of this is when you're fighting waterblight and it does the stab/lunge with its spear, you jump to the side, however, when he does the slash, or like how thunderblight slashes after it teleports around for a bit, you actually backflip.

Something kinda funny happened with the fire dragon Dinraal when you shot at it. The special trial puts that blue layer over the horns, which normally consumes your arrow when you shoot at it to break it off. You'd then have to shoot another arrow to get a dragon part. But because you were using a 3-shot Lynel bow, one of the arrows hit the blue layer and triggered the cutscene, and then another one hit the horn underneath right afterward. How convenient!

You were overthinking the Big Or Small electricity shrine a little bit. You didn't notice that the elevator with the block on it stayed where it was when its power was disconnected. So the intended solution was to use a block to connect the elevator and raise it up, and then disconnect it again to make it stay at the top. Then you'd be able to do the whole thing with just the three blocks, as well as not have the current constantly disconnecting and triggering the cutscene over and over again. (They definitely should have made that cutscene only play the first time though...)

Hoping it doesn’t fall through the cracks with Tears of the Kingdom coming up, but you definitely don’t want to miss the “Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity” game. I promise the story of that game is shockingly every bit as good and even more suspenseful than Breath of the Wild. It was unbelievably good.

It's been a few years since I faced off against Thunderblight, but I feel like I just shield parried his quick strike attack and then hit him with my sword.

There's many theories online about how Kass' teacher may be Robbie from Akkala Ancient Tech lab - screen rant does a really good description as why this might be and links a youtube video which describes it too!!
