My husband is from Dunfermline as is all his family and they all pronounce Duloch as “Dullick”

It's Duloch "pronounced Dewloch" cracks me up when people say Dulloch. Who wants to stay in a "Dull" place?

Two of my 3 schools have now disappeared: Commercial (down the lane) and the High School. Only Pittencrieff is still there.

Has the high school gone now? My old primary school I'm sure was called pitreavie primary, in this or mebbes part 1 it's pitcorthie primary. It's still in the pitcorthie housing estate. I was at the high school 1st year and a bit of 2nd year. My old man was in the RAF at pitreavie castle, down the pit. We lived there 88 to 91, all them old houses are gone now apparently!

@@keithpringle3940 The High School was knocked down a few years ago and the new one is now at the other side of the former playing fields next to the railway line.

@@williamgeorgefraser Jesus!! I mind some of it was reasonably new, well for the early 90s anyway!! The main building must of been ancient though, I thought it would've been listed considering the age of it?? I would hardly recognise the place now!! Cheers!!

@@keithpringle3940 I remember being told that my granddad worked on the original building (and fell off). I think the main building must have been built during the 1930s as the New Wing was in place when I arrived in 1964. The original huts,1,2,3, built of concrete were also there as well as the double wooden huts 4/5 and 6/7.

@@williamgeorgefraser From what I mind, there was the main building and I think j block which was joined into the main building by an enclosed walkway type bridge. Then there was a few huts that had the music rooms and changing rooms I think? J block had the maths, English, big art room and home ec stuff like that in it. The main building had all the language rooms, history, geography and probably more that I can't remember in it, mebbes the craft and design workshops too?? The main building had some fancy woodwork, doors etc and the stonework must've been worth a fortune, it was an impressive building!! I would've thought it could've been turned into expensive flats or something like that?? So did the old primary school get knocked down too? It was just along the road a wee bit. My pals old man had the macaris ice cream shop at the crossroads with the traffic lights, if you took a left at them it would take you up to brucefield and the high school!!
