Slight correction: they didn't kill the Mind Flayer. They just shut down the small piece that was used to build itself an avatar. The real Mind Flayer is still in the Upside Down

I don’t know if y’all noticed, but this day took place on Will’s Birthday, and no one seemed to remember expect Jonathan. That’s why when he dropped them off at the skating rink he told Will, “Try and have fun.”

"Not with witnesses." 🤣 This was me the first time I watched it. No sympathy for Angela, but plenty of fear and concern for El. The creatures in the show don't have anything to do with D&D, the kids just use D&D terms because it's something they can relate to. When Hopper left, he took the PD's only functioning brain cell with him. The fact they not only painted a target on Eddie's back, but let Jason roam around free, starting lynch mobs, when his only alibi for _his girlfriend being found murdered while in another guy's home_ is a bunch of kids who were too drunk/stoned to be able to testify to their own whereabouts that whole night, let alone his, says all you need to know. This is definitely the best season and is better than pretty much anything else out there IMO, but it still has issues that make me want to pull my hair out and cops are involved in several of them. LOL

In absolute fairness, they (the PD) are doing their level best. It just so happens their immediate person to question was both _that opinionated_ on all things related to the other name brought up, and able to rile up those around him with the same ease he connected those dots. Granted, they absolutely ‘could have’ phrased those questions another way, or even outright say “can’t confirm or deny anyone’s involvement with anyone,” or even brought up a couple other names in between to muddy the waters, but… well, there’s a reason they aren’t lawyers, as well as why they didn’t have Hop’s job while he was still there.

One of the MVPs of Season 4 is whoever wrote the closed captioning descriptions. In this episode alone we get "Hopper grunting erratically," "sinister audio distortion," "muffled weeping," "emotional synch music playing," "ominous music intensifies," "breathing shakily," "gutteral growling," "malevolent music playing," "creatures cracking, slithering," and the best one "flesh distending wetly," And this was one of the weaker closed captioning episodes.

It is interesting, and certainly helpful for people who are hearing impaired, though I sometimes found it distracting. It actually makes me think that we need at least two different levels of captioning: one for people who don't understand English or just want clarification on the dialogue, and one for people who can't hear.

@@rfresa A lot of other shows actually do have the two types of subtitles, both for language and hearing impaired. Squid Game for example. Which makes it weird that one of Netflix's other super successful shows doesn't include the option.

LOL, the characters playing D&D has nothing to do with what actually happens in the Upside Down. They just use D&D lore to name the supernatural things that has happened since S1. Like, the demogorgon, the Mind Flayer, Vecna… Those names are not even the real names of those creatures but it’s what Dustin, Lucas and the others have used to name them. Even the Upside Down; we don’t know the name of that dimension. Actually, them playing D&D helps them when they are trying to fight those creatures, haha. And the money Joyce said she was going to get to save Hopper is from Hopper’s account (Enzo mentioned it on the call) and Joyce has access to it because El is living with the Byers and El is Hopper’s adoptive daughter.

I thought I was crazy thinking that Mike and Will had something deeper going on. Or that there was some kind of romantic plot brewing. But the fact that y'all have felt the energy since mid season two makes me feel so much more validated. Like, those two have broken up twice and they're not even together. They even used the big fight in the rain where someone runs off. Which is a trope in every romance movie ever pretty much. Duffer Bros ain't slick.

I was in high school at this time and yes other students did join in on the clowning sometimes in fear of retaliation. El should have been in therapy. She was not equipped to navigate high schoolers. Social queues and norms. ( for example, even after all of the crap they did to her she pleaded for an apology and still want Angela to lie to Mike and say they are friends). No sweetie. Just NO. And she for sure needs to learn to manage her anger. If she had her powers, there would have been a massacre at school when they smashed her diorama. Not to mention they should try and keep a low profile. Great Reaction!

Ya know the coolest thing about this season is that that they filmed the roller skating stuff at my local roller rink. I've gone there several times and there may be a possibility I've worn the skate that hit Angela at one point. They redid the whole place just for shooting stranger things

It was likely Demetri that sent the package and he was on Hoppers side. The hiding location is to prevent the Russians that were not on Hoppers side.

But I don’t know if that’s giving late 80’s postal service too much credit, or a reasonable amount. Not that it gets confirmed either way, but, if that’s what happened, it kind of tracks?
