I just saw them in Manchester and Liverpool (2023) and they are an absolute joy to behold. Plenty of old codgers like me but lots of youth, too. 35 years and still as strong as ever.

I love listening to Jon & Martin. This was the album that got me into the charlatans when I was 15 in 1997 ❤

Good doc. Glad they continued as they have produced 3 amazing albums after telln stories and some of their best work. The vibe off that record was hard to beat as it was such a complete album but never a favourite . Respect for carrying on, even after Jon passed and never took it for granted.

I enjoyed this doc. I have always thought that Tellin Stories was a high mark for the Charlatans. Several great songs and overall a strong album, from start to finish.

yep, whole way thru lyric & vocally Tim lost me after this, with a few exceptions, Me in Time. He inflected the next albums in a way, sounded slick & product like, like modeling. Fact is the sound of & visual of Tim’s performance in The Only One I know is what made me want to play music. I knew before, seeing him singing & them all looking like regular dudes, was like yeah, this is the thing to do.

Na, it doesn’t take COURAGE to play rock n roll. When your loved ones die, this happens to us all!

Tim has charm to spare obviously. Can we go by wiki? It says he wanted Rob out at this point, because he was sabotaging songs. When you’re in it, maybe you are too close, but a group is it’s founding members. You can’t fuck with that, period. In part one they all talk about the sound having a life of it’s own, and all recognize together there was a thing. The “gang” approach to being a band, I think is a real yawn. Tim lost me lyrically & vocally after some friendly. I will listen to those albums now to hear what Martin, Jon & Rob did. One to Another is there’s & Tim’s rhyme time words & bratty singing not his best contribution.
