NO,no,no,no, the studio version is at the perfect tempo. The LIVE tempo is good for getting a crowd whipped into a frenzy though. The studio version is menacing and humorous at the same time. Their singer is very threatening when he looks over his sunnies much longer than was necessary.

To be the bassist *and* also the lead singer is actually quite impressive. They're both rhythmically opposites. A lot of people would call this kind of music "noise", but the setup of The Chats is actually insanely impressive.

When we use a forensic psychological approach in regards to the notion of 'smoko' we may very well conclude that the song is a death throw lament for those halcyon days, when for many , the entirety of the day was in fact 'smoko'. Lumbering 'ne're do wells' like myself, menu planned the whole day around 'smoko' . Clocking on with a heavily sauced bacon and egg roll. Morning tea, buttered iced sticky bun. Luncheon , a 'dog's eye' , also heavily sauced. A cardboard cup of hot chips covered in 'dead horse' for arvo tea and then evacuate the work site at the declaration of 'pub now' ! Now 'smoko' has been reduced to 20 minutes on an upturned milk crate and brave is the soul that pokes that bear. The spitting scowling lyric " Im on smoko , so leave me alone" is inextricably linked to the undeniable and historic truth that everything can be best achieved when nothing is done at all.
