I just installed the Lexx yesterday on a Gen 2. Just before that I took out the snorkel and upgraded to K&N air filter...that really opened up the KLR making a much smoother and throatier ride. Adding the Lexx seems to complete things. Between these 3 things the bike had a much more enjoyable feel, less vibrations. I tried without the silencer/spark arrestor and it's not good for the performance, lots of backfires and lag feeling. Much better as is and loud enough, but I could go a touch louder. Also when you're not revving it's very quiet

Not really. I ride with a guy who has Leo exhaust, opened air, inline controller and they broke the ecm. My bike on the shop dyno makes 34 hp, he has 900 in parts he installed after work, now has 40hp, did hit 41 on a pass. It sounds good tho. Timing was adjusted as well. He probaly gets a solid ten feet on me in both 3rd and 4th gear.. Most the extra power did nothing til then due to gearing. However he went 14 x 50 or so now, but hasn't pulled it out due to weather. We assume 65 70 will be the new top speed maintain high, could hold 80 85 before. He may as well delete or quit using 1st gear now tho, and it creates a lurch and jump effect, nearly impossible not to toss yourself engine braking in the wrong situation. All in all, exhaust on the klr will give some extra, but mostly in allowing cars next to you to know your there sometimes. This is all done on 2 identical 2022 models. Minus color.

I've found that the muffler is a great addition. But in time the spark arrestor weld breaks and causes inner tail pipe to rattle. Jb weld doesn't help but it still sounds a little louder . BUT, what you really need to know is while you've got it apart. CHANGE THE STUPID EURO 5 HEAD PIPE. Factory claims they reduced it for mid range torque... uhhh, hell no. Its a smother. So. Get a used 2018 (carb style) off ebay. Drill 02 sensor hole. Weld a matching metric threaded nut at that location. (You will need to loosen the upper fairing nut way up in there) but the pipe will wiggle in. Use a new copper ring gasket. Then clamp on the Lexx pipe. Torque and sound is massive. You won't believe how choked the stock pipe is. This is why critics say the bike is a dog. Its is NOT A SLOW BIKE NOW. The 650 engine is a 100mm X82 mm short stroke,twin cam, 4 valve, design. Not a pig. Add a 16 T sprocket and your leaving 100 foot roosters. It sounds like a BSA Victor and pulls hard to the end of the torque curve. I bet 10 hp increase on my pro butt dyno. A MUST DO, ON THIS BIKE. Thx Bert.

did this install affect your MPGs?
@SwankyCatProductions2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how much but I'd guess that it did a little. I still get over 50 mpg though.

Should be just fine as is, I'll be doing a few other things that will make it worth an ECU flash.

So I will never buy another one of these again. The screws will back out. The instruction manual says to repack it every 10 hours. So if anything's fails on that pipe they'll just blame you for not repacking it. The middle of the pipes going to lose its colour after maybe 10 to 20 hours of use. I lost my first cap on the pipe. Stupid enough to buy another. I bought two instead of buying one Yoshimura and I should have my head examined for that. (The affair when the first it came off I thought that was cuz I switched out the tips. It wasn't till the second bike started doing it without me touching it from factory that I realize it's just a really shity made muffler)

I almost laughed out loud just now when i heard this dude mention flashing the ECU of his KLR650. Such a strange thing to hear...

I will NEVER buy any FMF product after they dissed me on a phone call inquiry I made for a special pipe I wanted THEM to sell me. Blahhhhh. My ideas work better than their over priced , too loud bull.

Rocky Mountain is the worst supplier to deal with. Obviously no care for their customer's time and hard-earned money..

Huh I've never had a bad transaction with them. Even with returns.
