While swallowing gum, in rare cases, can block your digestive tract, if you only do it once or twice there will likely be no lasting harm. However, brands like Hubba Bubba and juicy fruit have a lot of sugar, which may impact ones oral health, and possibly other health in a negative way. You can also choke on gum, which is much harder to get out and can’t be easily gotten out via Heimlich maneuver. Never chew it on an empty stomach either. Overall: swallowing gum, while dangerous, isn’t likely to be very harmful if done in small quantities, though I wouldn’t go out of my way to swallow it.

there's this super good gum that i can't find the brand of, but it's in a nearby canadian tire and it starts out as a hard candy but melts into a very chewy and satisfying gum, you can really taste the mint in it too, yet it is filled with flavouring and it is the best gum i've ever had only problem is it's a dollar per, for a tablet 1.5 cm in diameter

Objection! The difference between chewing and eating is the swallowing part. Also what's "too much gum"? Name an exact number of gums a human would have to swallow to be potentially fatal. Even if it was the case like Nick said, the gum takes a few days to be digested being eliminated completely with bowel evacuation. In other words it would be impossible for a human under normal circumstances to swallow so many gums to the point of unintentionally having a serious problem.

I, a man with 12 minutes to spare, have decided to watch a Phoenix Wright video of people arguing about gum and the safety of swallowing it. I have officially lost it.

9:18 OBJECTION! (even though this was 3 years ago) Schell stated "large amount" meaning that if you swallow little by little, its completely fine to swallow! And if you do swallow a large amount, the gum shouldnt be sticking by the time you start swallowing it! Nick stated the fact that he swallows the chewing gum AFTER he finishes chewing it. By this time, you should be able to know the gum softens up and slowly doesnt get as sticky as its suppose to be. That's why its meant to be spit out once done chewing. BUT, if you swallow it, it shouldnt get stuck to your throat! Now back to if you swallow a huge amount. Since the gum isnt as sticky anymore, you should be able to get it unstuck by drinking water! If that doesnt work coughing it out can do the trick. Or else your body wouldn't even LET YOU SWALLOW IT! If the hole where you swallow food is too small or cant handle it, your mouth will reconize this and refuse to let you swallow the huge amount. I know this because i have done it myself! I have tested this fact 100% and it does work! You will be forced to swallow it in a smaller chunk due to your mouth not letting you. Wow im such a good lawyer 😎
