I definitely remember these cars during my trip to Boston beginning in 1990 twice, then 1993, 1998 (includes walking the streets of Charlestown dipping into imagination), and 2005-though these cars retired in 1992. . .these are the 1400 series cars [class of 1963], the seats WERE hard, but the ride was 😍😍; then the 1500-1900 series came along, but thankfully these DIDN'T stop me from traveling abroad: the scene where trains come from out of the Beacon Hill tunnel I assumed (you know the rest of the joke) was at Broadway, but I reread the information and found it was Charles Street-MGH (too bad heavy duty sidings are currently in place blocking the view of Downtown Boston) thanks to the book I purchased in 1982 "A change at Park Street Under" (Brian Cudahy), I remember also giggling because as said '. . . a later commentator spoke of the hideous structures that were allowed to darken and disfigure our streets with' (referring to the Orange Line elevated train structure in Charlestown before removal in the 1970s, and the Washington Street+surrounding neighborhoods portion in the 1980s-afterwards, the latter looks like it shrunk up because it don't even LOOK like Washington Street at all); so much could have been done and achieved, but I won't go into detail because we ALL know the deal, meanwhile this should have been also filmed at Columbia Road/JFK-UMASS because I love (😍😍😍) that layout, and I-93 compliments it further.

Those trains retired in 1995 not 1992.

@@redsox1935 Really? so much I missed out on, that's misinformation right there because I didn't see these cars at all (as I said) in 1993 with my triumphant return, but I won't doubt you; nonetheless, I still had a ball with the T, I even stayed later [until 1010pm] while misreading the railroad schedule as a 710pm departure-and it said 701pm-Washington DC bound because I was stuck @ Sullivan Square (I've laid eyes on that location for yet another future visit) awaiting for the Orange Line train to return Downtown, and it was 642-43pm, So I've ridden the Blue line train out and back to compensate, and boarded the Green line C route, instead of the B route, while observing Kenmore Square's station layout imagining if it were high platforms instead, and finally riding crosstown earlier on the #21 bus to Ashmont station, and the bus was crowded (no complaints from me); leaving town found me imagining rapid transit trains in the vicinity of Readville station because of its passivity as such.

I remember these old Bluebirds from when I was growing up and in the 1980s and 90s. The paint scheme shown here wasn't original; it was royal blue and white with a gold stripe and a gray roof. In the 80s the T went through great expense extending the underground subway platforms only to find out that the Bluebirds would catch fire when run in six-car consists. So they had to order new cars from Bombardier; those are nice.

1400s aren’t good during the summertime because there’s no AC. Also, they had too many mechanical problems and that’s why they were never be able to run a 6 car train. Even though they ran some on the Braintree line, but remained on the Ashmont line. That’s one of the few reasons why they were forced to retire.

So the vintage 1400’s had no door chime but they did have a distorted BING-BOMG PA chime?
