I'm astonished that i never saw this when i went to chicago as a kid. My dad would go on yearly business trips to shicago and he would bring me and my mom along. I was obsessed with trains, and if i had seen this, i would have gone NUTS, and not have begged mom to drag me into FAO Schwarz every day. I still remember that ball track that ran around the store, and how i was mad they replaced the loud flashing blue light dropper (it went POW-CLUNK) with a pinwheel that made no noise.

Tram-like curves. Very sharp. I like it.

Sorry to "hijack" with another post, but in the 1060's they were talking about putting the Loop underground as a subway, but it was found that it was more cost effective and efficient to rebuild it. Still going strong after 121 years!

Those are real great shots. Could you be kind to share the addresses that others can also go for shooting? Thank you so much!

So noisy! In Spain the trams with this level of noise are forbidden.

Tim, just a minor correction, in NYC it is the "El" in Chicago it is the "L"
@Luke_Starkenburg6 жыл бұрын
Robbi496 it is called both the L and the El.
@larrybrennan14635 жыл бұрын
@@Luke_Starkenburg Well, they both sound the same, but the CTA calls it the 'L' with a single quote mark.

I've been on this before when I've visited Chicago and this is better than the piece of shit New York subway!

We all know it's way better than Chambers Street station on the J and Z trains.
@FordEscape123456786 жыл бұрын
Here's a head start so you would know what the NYC subway is like. In the summer time, no air conditioning, Raggidty train stations, especially chambers street on the Nassau Street line, J and Z trains, and usually delayed in the middle of the tunnel. But still enjoy the ride.

@MJCHICAGOLAND 2314 New York subway cars are air-condioned but the stations are not.

@MJCHICAGOLAND 2314 God, do I know it! I've been in Chicago in the summer. I remember coming in on a day in late June 1971, and it was 105° at 6PM!

vintage wagons in usa metro
@larrybrennan14635 жыл бұрын
"Vintage"? Hardly. The oldest cars (wagon is not the American term) are 600 built from 1981-87, rehabilitated around 2000, and are due to be retired in a few years. The newest cars are 714 built between 2009 and 2015. The newest cars are to be delivered this year for testing, and the CTA may order as many as 846. All CTA cars are made of stainless steel. CTA does have several truly vintage cars from previous era, including two steel cars built in 1923. These are used for special occasions.
