I remember a girl from my psychology class during college. She was heavily pregnant but still attending classes. One time, we had a game in class where we pick a piece of paper from the glass bowl and read the question and answer it in front of the class. She got the question of 'If you can turn back time, what event you want to change from your past? ' then she answered when she got married. She told us she's adopted and her adopted parents forced her to marry. She begged them not to but they never felt pity on her. That's when she realized her adopted parents never love her. In a shaky voice and teary eyes, she told us that if she could turn back time she will escape and do everything in her power not to be married. I feel so sorry for her. That is when I realized how she was always look sad and quiet. She just got married and got pregnant right away.

My parents had a shotgun wedding, my mom was 17, they were happily married until my dad's death in 2015. I think it depends on culture. American culture is too Luke warm and you're treated like infants until you're 30 so of course a 15 year old woman from America shouldn't get married. Even though that was the norm all over the world until about 60 years ago. And I'm saying 15 year old woman because in nature there is adult and child no middle. However, I do believe that there should be restrictions on why. It makes sense if it is there cultural but as in instances such as this, there is no cultural or even religious reason why a marriage makes sense. It was simply a child predator and should have been prevented. Now, is there room for error? Yes. Absolutely. And we should work hard to make sure it happens as little times as possible...or never.
@mugofbrown62343 жыл бұрын
@@volzaac Regardless of "culture" child marriage needs to be outlawed. There's being respectful to a religious belief but the need to protect children should always be paramount. Only responsible people who actually care about the child have any rights to say anything in this. Blood does not matter. Also the last word is always the person's who owns that life(does not matter the age). They know deep inside that they are uncomfortable with this/it is unnatural but children unfortunately sometimes desperately trying to please others(especially adults) around them for approval. This is why adult should know better and should show a good example instead to further protect them(as what their duty is) instead of trying to use them. It is so disappointing and disgusting. One of the worst kinds of betrayals.

Neither her nor my grandfather had any say in this since, in Iran, the family goes up to another family and sets the two up, at least from my understanding of what was going on at the time. My grandma split up with him after she moved to America, I’m pretty sure.
