I love The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina because all the characters look and act like teenagers. Petty, irrational, a little cringe at times, but a lot of their mistakes come from good intentions. It feels very realistic in comparison to things like Riverdale and those cheesy rom coms now a days.

I agree, I love the archie comics but they made the characters in riverdale less teenage like even less than characters in chilling adventures of Sabrina that’s about devil worship and bs like that so that says a lot actually, how what’s meant to be a darker show like chilling adventures of Sabrina can have more relatable teens and drama than riverdale that’s supposed to be more centered in reality but it really isn’t centered in reality as much as the Those characters from riverdale archie comics...it’s so far fetched and ridiculous from what I’ve read about it online since I couldn’t get passed the first 2 episodes...at least in chilling adventures of Sabrina it’s a lot like the archie comics that it’s based off of but I wasn’t getting those vibes from riverdale when I watched the first 2 episodes that it would resemble the archie comics much in any way so I gave up as soon as I started it pretty much...

I believe this is due to the fact that the producers, direcrors, and screenwriters all had a wider variety of freedom when it came to this show due to it being on Netflix. That, and the comic book itself is intense and deeply mature. The show is definitely a breath away from the mess that Riverdale is becoming. I'm only hoping they continue this linear plotline with continuous character development and not turn it into a fan girl's wet dream of fanfiction.

Probably because Sabrina is actually more 'Comic accurate', it is supposed to be dark and witchcraft is a topic which can be connected to dark plotlines, whereas Riverdale is connected to a light-hearted comic series, in season one it was easy to connect a bunch of high schoolers with a murder of a fellow student but gang and political shit is a stretch, No 16-year-old acts like them, they cannot connect the characters with loose plots and hence it gets messier, they try to use a dark plot with a 'light' characters like high schoolers, mostly high school students party, do stupid things, are more connected to social media etc.. they do not investigate political schemes or break prisons, it's unrealistic.

I recommend checking out the actual 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' comic series. Its not complete yet because the writer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is now the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics and is the showrunner of both Riverdale and CAoS. So only 8 issues so far, but its so much better and creepier than the show. If you think the show is dark, then oh boy, the comics will shock you.

Facts I too want a whole show about Ambrose. But I feel that all of Sabrina bad choices are her aunts fault. There are things about their witch history that she should’ve known but she didn’t. There’s really nothing holding her to the witches world (ie: friendships, love) like it is to the mortal world. From how she acts in the show she hasn’t even been to a service at the Church of the Night yet. How do you expect someone to choose between a life they’ve always had and a life of the unknown.

Krista Revak & DaGaZ Rune That’s it she hasn’t been training. Her training doesn’t officially starts until she’s at the academy. What she knows is what her aunts and cousin teaches her. Because if she was going to the church she would’ve known who Father Blackwood was when she first saw him. She would’ve known about their version of Thanksgiving and it wouldn’t have felt foreign or wrong to her. She wouldn’t be fighting her baptism so hard. She wouldn’t of had those questions because they would’ve been properly explained to her. She would’ve understood why she couldn’t be with her friends and boyfriend. Yeah her aunts and cousin and the years of being a witch ties her to the witch world but as you can see it wasn’t enough. To me it looked like the raised her in the mortal world taught her how to control her powers and a few spells and thought she would be able to leave everything behind with no problems. Yeah she knew who the weird sisters were but she didn’t have any other witch’s or witch friends in her life. It seemed that she had a little knowledge of the coven but wasn’t to be apart of it until she was a full witch and that was a mistake on their parts.

The comics are part of a new Archie Horror comic imprint that was created in 2013, and titles such as Afterlife with Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina were created. Both series have amazingly creepy artwork but unfortunately have been on hiatus or delayed for many years now.

Amandine Turbian idk. i think that her hair turning white was supposed to be symbolic of a turning point in character. throughout the series, she was always kind of....morally strong to me, meaning, she followed her set of morals. she wasn’t one to always try to do the “right” thing (bc she only brought back tommy to make harvey feel better, she killed the girl who killed tommy, and the whole thing w the football players and the harrowing thing lmao) she just wanted some personal freedom you know? but she still wasn’t really cool w doing the “wrong” thing (her plan to bring dorcas back lol). after she signs her name tho, it feels like she sort of loses her inhibitions. she cuts off harvey and her mortal friends, and embraces her witchy friends. now she’s truly morally ambiguous. she’s trying to break away from witch traditions, yes, but at the end is when she’s truly embracing her witch side instead of kind of pushing it away. she doesn’t have to worry about what’s right and what’s wrong anymore. her signing her name in the book of the beasts did a number on who she is as a person, which will most likely be explored in season 2. yes, it’s a bit ooc, but i believe that that’s the point. (plus her and prudence always had some kind of frenemy thing going on) it’s kinda like caitlyn and killer frost from the flash i think lol but i cant wait to see how they play w this new sabrina you know??? because HOW is she going to break away from witch traditions when she’s signed her name now??????? i wonder how the plot is going to change

I actually really enjoyed the show. Yes the first few episodes were cringy but I pushed through it and I'm glad I did. To address Sabrina being annoying and stupid, I think it's very in character for her because she is so concerned with justice, she loses her self and disregards her morals. I'm glad that she faced the consequences for her actions because it would have been super sucky if she didn't. Plus, her choices lead to this whole "prophecy" which I think is fitting. Yes, it's bizarre but I love it because of it.

Yess thank you! I really enjoyed this series and got increasingly annoyed with Sabrina. But that was the point right? She’s so young, smart, kind and powerful. So of course she’s going to get caught up in her ideas of justice and what’s right. She gets so caught up in her own selfishness, and goes against her own morals to do what SHE thinks is best for others. The resurrection really was the last straw and I’m glad she faced real consequences after that. She was really annoying, selfish and stupid with that one. You don’t mess with the dead! It’s fiction but it’s gotta be common sense to know that when a dead person comes back from the dead, they’re not going to be the same person!! 😂 I can’t wait for season 2.

unfortunately can't agree, alex! i had a great time watching sabrina! it felt like riverdale's less annoying older sister. i thought sabrina's character was true to a teenager, especially one who has grown up in being prepped to, idk, SELL HERSELF TO SATAN. she was overly confident and relied on her superiors to clean up her messes (like a real teen would). and of course she's going to base all of her decisions off of her friends and her boyfriend, that's literally all that matters to you when you're sixteen! it felt refreshing to watch teenagers look and act like teenagers instead of 25 year olds pretending to be teenagers but in situations teenagers are literally never put in. was it cheesy? oh yeah, but so was the 90's sitcom that everyone doesn't want to let go of. it's just a little good, spooky holiday fun.

Ambrose is a great character until he falls in love. The most annoying and stupid things he does are because of his boyfried. Some are interesting and help the plot or the world-building, like the astral projection thing, but when the focus shifted to his relationship, the character became flat. I had high hopes at first, because he seemed to have a very interesting backstory and to be very knowledgeable and kind, but they didn't explore it well, nor enough. Sabrina may be a little annoying, but I find refreshing to see a protagonist who knows what they're doing, or at least knows enough to know there are still places to explore and boundaries to push in the world of magic. And she doesn't let "good" get in the way of what she wants, nor "evil". Sometimes she goes too far, and it's even mentioned in the show, but it would be boring if she didn't make any mistakes because of her "I'm invicible" attitude. That's kind of the point... She's not perfect, but she gets shit done.

I liked this show. I binged watched the entire thing. The weirdness is what makes it unique and sort of new. If it was a sitcom then it wouldn't be worked cuz sitcoms aren't as popular as they used to. The most annoying thing about this is how morally superior Sabrina was. Yeah, except it ends with her doing the thing giving he a power which only had 3 others witches had before her ever. It kinda felt like: Yeah, you are not as powerful as you thought you were, but you might just be right now. Honestly, the whole finally felt out of tune with the rest of the show. A kind of philosophy that if a lot of big things happened it'd be a good episode, no matter how little sense they'd made (even compared to the other actions on the show). Ambrose's BF not just summoning him, but also locking him in the school. Hilda's I want another baby after being convinced she could NOT raise kids properly. The uncritical attitude towards miss Wardwell on her lack of help in protection spells. The story telling perspective and consequent death for no apparant reason at all... the finally just wasn't.

I recommend checking out the actual 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' comic series. Its not complete yet because the writer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is now the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics and is the showrunner of both Riverdale and CAoS. So only 8 issues so far, but its so much better and creepier than the show. If you think the show is dark, then oh boy, the comics will shock you.

The thing is, though, he's very consistent about his attitude toward her, regardless of whether she's there with him or not. He helped hold off the Weird Sisters until Sabrina was finished with Tommy, and he defended Sabrina to Harvey while he was protecting Harvey for her. So he certainly seems sincere. Maybe Nick's experience with love between witches just hasn't been that great, even though other witches(like Edward Spellman and Ambrose) have managed it just fine.

Teenagers do tend to act entitled. Especially teenagers who have everything they need to live well already. I agree that Sabrina really does tend to flounce around, demanding things of other people, and I can see how that would become annoying-- but I think this is going to end up being one of those "before and after" elements of the show. Early on, she thinks the world works one way, but then she goes through all this painful crap and comes out on the other side with a lot more thoughtfulness about everything. I'm going to wait and see how she seems at the end of Part 2. I bet there will be a noticeable difference in how she behaves then compared with how she behaved at the start of the show.

I loved Zelda the most. (spoilers regarding her) Cause when you meet her, she's the stern one. Then when she kills Hilda she's the evil one, along with pushing Sabrina to the baptism. Then, during/after the nightmare we actually see her biggest fear and it's so human and literally the last thing I expected to see. Then we have Sabrina asking if Zelda would let "them do this to me" (about the cannibalism) and Zelda just turned and said "Never" - this is so honest. The character, not even change, the character recognition throughout the series is one of the best I have ever seen. It's really amazing. Sabrina is by far, the best teen show lately...It's cool because Sabrina is the kind of girl that thinks evertyhing she does is right, and it comes back to byte her in the ass. She's called out multiple times because of that and the culture of witches in this show is really cool. The mundane things, the spells, the codes. It's a good show, once you go through weird shit from the first 2 episodes,

Alessandra Sola the only thing I hate about this show is Salem. There’s a whole scene in episode 6 of Sabrina where she’s literally having a full conversation with him and it’s so weird cause he doesn’t talk so thus it make her look like a crazy cat lady.

On the other hand, can you imagine if the teacher and the crow could talk and everyone could hear him? I think that's the main reason they did the familiar in this show comunicate like that.

the first few episodes felt a little awkward and slow and like lowkey riverdale but by the end of the season it finds its pace and style and the characters really grew on me, like I feel like episode 9 and 10 really got me hooked to the show and I can’t wait for season 2

Josh Abraham - Just so you know I am a PROUD progressives. So when I say SJW I’m not saying in a derogatory way. Not how many reactionary anti-SJWs do. I mean it as just what it is. That’s what Sabrina does in some of the episodes. Especially when it comes to her friend Susie. But I feel like a lot of the times the way she went about it or some of the stuff she says came off as a bit self righteous. She was too preachy on some scenes. I’m not saying that fighting for social justice is a bad thing. It is not! I’m just saying that there is a way of doing it without coming off as annoying and self righteous.

I’m obsessed with the original Sabrina show- like it’s just so good. I haven’t seen the new one. But also the whole choose between being a witch and being a human thing- happens at the end of season 2 in the original, because she tries to talk to her mum. Except it’s just she can never see her mum again if she’s a witch.

Don’t get me wrong I love the video like every one before. It’s just that I wholeheartedly loved this show. Easily one of my favorite Netflix originals of all time. Unlike Riverdale the show never once felt like it was being edgy or that it was just straight up shit writing, it’s a dark series that has moments of humor and SoL sprinkled throughout. And the cast was fucking fantastic. Especially Kiernan Shipka, she nailed it. Added bonus was that she was Jinora from LoK. I really can’t wait for part 2 and not in a guilty pleasure way. It was a genuinely good show that’s gotten a weird amount of flak despite it being a purposefully dark and twisted take on Sabrina. It’s not like Riverdale that’s just a shitshow that went off the handle and has legit source material. My only real problems with the show are the annoying PC diatribes shoved in and honestly I wish they’d got Nick Bakay back for Salem even for the little dialogue he had.

The main girl immediately seemed like a good fit for the role and the way the show was done drew me in.
