The people talking shit on him for throwing and breaking his board have obviously never been skaters lol
@crittercosner28777 жыл бұрын
Or... just hear me out... they have and realize that the board is expensive, not at fault, and that breaking the board serves only to make the skater look like a child throwing a temper tantrum.
@nomadic-mind7 жыл бұрын
Focusing your board isn't throwing a tantrum. When it cracks or starts breaking people break their boards dramatically sometimes.
@jasons_encore7 жыл бұрын
Everyone is different, but if you've ever been competitive or just wanted to do something really bad, then you'll get frustrated/mad at some point. You see football players breaking footballs, their gear, soccer players the same, tennis players breaking their 200 dollar + racquets. It's not about being logical. If you really think they're childish for doing so, then sorry, but look up any great athlete doing some "childish shit", and I guarantee you'll find something on it. Are you consider that childish even considering that they are the best at what they do? Also, skateboards aren't all that expensive.
@IDiggPattyMayonnaise7 жыл бұрын
Critter Cosner Or... in the moment you need to release your frustrations. Like punching a wall. The wall didnt do anything but you need an outlet. Its far better to release your anger than hold it in, especially on an inanimate object rather than holding it in and then letting it out on someone later. Pros do it. Ams do it. Local kids do it. Doesnt make anyone look like a child, it makes them look human
@tyskbulle7 жыл бұрын

What he should do is leave his home country for a while and travel to different parts of the world to skate. He can make connections with other skaters throughout his travels and can influence others to skate at his home country. By doing that, he won't be bored and he can bring back the skate scene that was once lost.

Because unlike America and other countries, kids in China don’t really have any free times, schools usually starts at around 7:00 in the morning and ends at 6:00, and after that some may have extra tutoring, for the kids in China, skate broading is actually a really unfamiliar sports, i was lucky enough to leaving China (Guangzhou actually, we’re from the same city) after the 6th grade, so for him grow up in China and manage to become pro is actually really impressive, respect for him

At 0:36, you hear Jian Shen say "Guangzhou" in Cantonese. No one is asking for PERFECT pronunciation in a language unfamiliar to them, but the least Vice can do is get it as close to right as possible. They obviously have correspondents in China who could have helped with this..

Jiyin Low Why the Fuck do you care if an american cant pronounce a weird ass city name
@alsavini7 жыл бұрын
I can tell you why I care... I care because not even attempting the j sound of the zh in Guangzhou shows carelessness of the reporting that discredits Vice and its quality. Its actually not that difficult to say if the girl just practiced or if Vice had official policy on working towards trying to say words right. As Vice grows into the media monstrosity it increasingly is seen as, its these characteristics that make me question Vice's commitment to the values I'd like to see in my news stations. BBC has very tight requirements, for example, on attempting pronunciation of places and names in non English, as does CNN reporting staff.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this, but you should learn to say the words your pronouncing prior to going on-air. Jianshen (gee-en-sh-ehn) or Guangzhou (goo-ang-johw) (just trying to spell out pronunciation) for starters. I get it -- its hard to say Chinese words. But its unacceptable for Vice to not even attempt the 'j' sound of the zh in Guangzhou, so it shows a carelessness that I don't expect from Vice. I don't blame Maggie for this, though... I think editorial management should have pulled and reshot the intro, its on them.
