It was a while ago I did this achievement but isn't staff the court with Manchus usually considered better because underground workshops gives something like 6 military factories and -25% infantry equipment cost? It does make infantry equipment worse but you can make so much more of it it's insane.

for those who don't know, the achievement where you strike oil as Manchukuo is from the name of a "Korean Manchu Spaghetti Western" movie where the dad (not the rich one) from Parasite and the Asian guy from Magnificent Seven remake have a shootout with the North Korean general from Steel Rain over a bag of jewels. The shootout happens to take place right above a secret oil well, which was a McGuffin for the entire movie. Why max infrastructure? That bag of jewels was a loot from a train robbery on the South Manchurian Rail.

I did this on non historical AI because it Japan goes communist you get all Japan's holdings outside the home islands, Mengkukuo as a puppet, some free units and generals, and a navy I think. Makes conquering China easier and weakens Japan for later but they will declare war on you by a focus which isn't much of an issue as they're really weak.

That's the strategy I use, although as commie Japan has no other territory outside the home islands and if you wait till they declare war you have the amazing opportunity to invade a Japan with 100+ divisions guarding it 🤣 easy enough with air and cas support but my god its scary making a beach head that instantly gets attacked by 30 Jap divisions 😬

Fun fact: if you completed the final focus and see xuantong, he is not the real puyi per say. The options you get for events are determined by specific requirements. Getting two means you fulfill the requirements for two of them, for whatever reason

14:48 The two options thing is usually because either the requirements for enabling them are broken or because you manage to somehow fulfill both of them. These events have multiple options that basically say "Show this if you're X Tag/if you're this ideology/if you have this spirit etc. etc." and a last one that appears if you don't fulfill any of the other ones. This is so if a nuke is dropped on a country for example the text will read something positive for the allies of the bomber and something negative for the allies of the bombed. Sometimes the requirements for these are very lazily written however and they either break as the game is updated or their requirements aren't contradictory so you have the opportunity to get multiple.

That news event with the two options had the two options because Manchukuo is both the instigator of the event and doesn't have the flag "is_literally_china" (that second option doesn't have a condition check for if you're the instigator of the event or not, it just checks for the flag). Usually these errors happen because Paradox wasn't thorough enough with the trigger condition checks. Also, considering the people who seized power in China after the war, Puyi's fate could've been a lot worse than what it became, lmao

If anyone else is doing the Vassalize the warlords focus (China or Manchukuo), the chance for each AI warlord to accept is 50/50 no matter what-unless if Chiang Kai-shek refuses to go Xi'an as part of the Xi'an incident event line, in which case the AI will never accept vassalization. If the Xi'an incident never occurs, this doesn't apply. This is from the game files. I don't know why the Xi'an incident is relevant for Manchukuo; I'm guessing the devs copied over the vassalization event from China into Manchukuo but never bothered changing this AI behavior modifier.

Manchuko is actually really op if the Japanese happen to go communist, you get some of their army, navy, plus Korea, Taiwan, their lands in China, and some islands. I got like 36 free divisions when it happened to me so if you want easier achievements just keep replaying on non-historical until Japan goes commie.
