£14bn for foreign aid, £10bn for climate aid, £22bn to catch carbon; what can go wrong? Togather with job taxes and food taxes.
@TW19567

Climate scientists reckon 3 degrees warming is already baked in so the weather is going to get more and more volatile. The amounts of money being spend to try and invest in green technology is pittance compared to what the cost of adapting to more volatile weather is going to cost. Around where I live the fields absolutely saturated with water because of the sheer volume of rain we have had and it's only going to get worse. Right wingers complain about farm land being used for green tech well soon the only way to grow crops in the UK might be in controlled environments indoors!

The only growth in our GDP will be coming from sectors (e.g. the NHS) that do not generate taxes, but consume tax-receipts. It will be necessary to look under the bonnet of any headline GDP figures. Chinese investments? They are made with the intent of taking more out of the UK than is put in.

The uk economy was in a dire future even before the budget. So blaming 1 labour budget when the tories had 14, that made the uk poorer, even worse with brexit. Brexit is the problem on many fronts, and its not mentioned. And the fastest growing economy in the G7, was also a myth as it did not take in all the facts.

The market never crashed with Truss. The FTSE100 was at 7550.37 prior to the Truss mini-budget, fell to a low of 6969 in the weeks following it, then was back up to 7556.23 a couple of weeks later. To put that in context, in the months prior to her coming into office, it had dipped to 7016 multiple times, without anyone claiming a market crash had happened. The only mistake Truss made was thinking she could get away with firing a senior civil servant in the Treasury, which is of course a big no-no in our government, as civil servants are only allowed to fail upwards.
