For those of you like me, who value above all else the emotional components of a musical performance, there is no one more gifted to present this to a hungry public than Lang Lang. I regret that Chopin is no longer among the living to hear him play. Lang Lang is unsurpassed in this respect.

+Art Landy Lang Lang was born with complete independence of the fingers.A very rare phenomenom, Liszt, Josef Hoffman, Horowitz, and now Lang Lang.There will always be jealousy and ignorance concerning his art which unfortunately is not consistent.Hopefully this great artist will someday get over his need to be in the spotlight with celebrities.Then he should consistently be able to identify with the masters as is the case here.His DVDs represent transcendental pianism of the highest order.

@@789armstrong you have to listen to more recordings man . Because your comment is one of the most ignorant stuff i've heard . For Tchaikovsky 1 listen to Volodos and for Chopin 2 , Michelangeli . After reading through numerous comments, I am dismayed at all those for whom music is all about sound and technique rather than an emotional experience. Lang Lang is great, surpassed perhaps only by Horowitz, who often stated that one must do something with the music and not just offer the notes. Lang Lang does just that and extremely well indeed.

The message of Lang Lang is that even if you are a lousy pianist, you should not despair for if you believe in yourself and if you have the right attitude. Please do not misunderstand me, I am not saying that Lang Lang is a lousy pianist. I am saying that he has a personal way to play, and I think that is the only way you will ever succeed in today's world of musical performance. After all, Arthur Rubinstein said this in a public interview, when being asked if he was the best pianist of his time: -No, I am not. There are many other pianists who play technically better than I do, but the public likes my way to play, and this is what counts for me. I think the same is true today for Lang Lang. Yuja Wang plays much better than him, and yet he has established a place in a niche of the classical musical repertoire. I am not a fan of his play, but I love him as a human, the way he talks, the way he teaches children, the way he is simply himself. He is a lovely person, that's what I want to say ...

You're a great virtuoso pianist. Have a keen sense of humor, too...Music is, indeed, your life. I love Music too. Started playing by ear at 5y.o. then my grandma enrolled me on summers at age 7 and read notes; but, I disliked note reading thoughI have to learn it by heart so I could play some classical pieces I am delighted to like Flùr Elise, Hungarian Dance No.5 and The Beautiful Blue Danube. Honestly, I am more motivated playing Pop Music by the Beatles(m a Beatlemania, now m 67) watching Sangah Noona. Nevertheless, Classical Music is more peaceful to hear at and I am beginning to love it with your Classical renditions. Kudos, Man! -a senior fan from d Philippines.

Agree with your opinion and also with David Barless's. First of all, that place is not a concert hall at all, i suppose, so the resonance is different from the music that we hear in normal concert halls. And as David Barless said, probably how the sound was mixed down. There must be some kind of sound technology to record this performance, and the way they adjust this recording is really up to the technicians.

48:40 Lang Lang was talking about something I was more familiar with, International Ballroom Dancing. I stopped teaching about twenty years ago, I put my energy writing a book about International Ballroom Dancing. At the beginning, I was so busy just learning the basic figures, I did not pay attention to anything else, but after I was more comfortable to the dance, say, International Rumba, I began to interpret the passionate music, the timing, the hip movements and the postures, etc. Every time the dancing is different to me, depending on who the partner I danced with and what my physical condition was in that evening. Did I just finish a Vienese Watlz moments before I was invited to another dance immediately afterwards? Those are the factors of my performance in that particular evening. Anyway, I had as much as fun as Lang Lang playing his music by Beethoven. George Wu, A.I.A. 2014-3-5

I felt this vibe as well, it's almost as if the interviewer/audience treats him like some sort of chump in their eyes, it's really sad, especially because if you listen to the way Lang Lang treats his styling you can sense that he is a profoundly poetic and beautiful individual with an incredible mind as well.

@madelena123410 жыл бұрын
go lucky Senior Oh yes authority speaks. Your true colours are grey, black and grey again. You infer that those who like Lang Lang are morons. You are intolerant someone who relishes in putting down a great pianist. I am a pianist myself, and I know that many of my friends appreciate Lang Lang. You are not the Be All and End All of knowledge when it comes to classical music you know. Your post shows your sense of superiority over others. If you were a tad more humble your comments would be more acceptable, but your dogmatic put down is most unfair and cruel to a pianist. I have adored classical music all my life, your comments are most offensive.
@madelena123410 жыл бұрын
go lucky Senior Good, I also love Pollini and many other pianists. But I would not think to deride and put down any of them, because I know about the love and sacrifice it takes to be a great pianist and play well enough to communicate to an audience. Therefore I find the hatred against Lang Lang at best inappropriate. And at worst very vulgar and cruel
@Clsctorp12310 жыл бұрын
madelena1234 I agree, it is completely inappropriate to just put down such an amazing performer, let alone alone someone who has put countless hours of their life into the skill. I think his artistic expression (which I absolutely love) can be critiqued but not his prowess.
