As somebody that only has one pair of gyw boots, and doesn't plan on building up a collection, this is the best boot review I've found. When searching for good boots that will last a lifetime I went through several youtube channels, blogs, and subreddits, and every time I was left with an extremely ambiguous take on any one pair of boots. I watched Rose Anvil cut at least 50 boots in half and never give an honest objective review of a pair of boots. On the other hand I found a smaller youtuber that would just read the product page and a blog post then call it a review. Here you've gone over the facts about the boots, and given an objective review of the overall quality of the boots, educating viewers on boot structure in the process so that we know what to look for in a quality pair of boots. Fantastic video.

Which boot did you decide to purchase? And what is your recommendation for a heritage boot, as well as a moc toe boot? I'm looking for a moc toe with a low profile that works with slimmer fitting pants that can be used for light work?

Thanks for the Goodyear welt explanation, first time I hear the split lip description. Grant stone should be my next everyday boots. Didn't had good durability out of Thursday boots, and they don't seems to care a lot for their larger feet customers.

Hi, great informative video. I have ordered these this week after watching yours and other videos on this Grant Stone boot. I went for the natural waxy commander and took a chance on the sizing by going a full size down as most reviews seem to indicate lots of volume, I hope to receive them this weekend and hope they fit. All the best from the UK. PS the tannery ( C. F. Stead ) is around 40 miles away from Manchester where I live.

Took me two years of contemplating buying chinese boots. Unfortunately im ashamed to say these boots are worth every penny. I bought two pairs of boots, a jk custom boot from the pacific north west and these. These fit me like a custom shoe, the jk had to be brokem in and it was pain ful. Both are great, the jks makes my feet feel more comfortable with them on then off after the pain went away, these are a little looser but comfortable, and you can also put a pair of orthotics in them to make them perfect.

Phenomenal review. I live your comprehensive opinions and ideas regarding their versatility in different potential environments, and how they can be styled. Since you consider this to be chunky, what is your best choice for a casual moc toe boot that can be worn with slimmer fitting clothing in urban environments, in addition to light-duty carpentry and diy?

@Bootlosophy you're probably right. Last question: which of the moc toe boot offered work best with slimmer fitting jeans? You mentioned RW moc to boots for being popular with that style, but do you consider them more appropriate than these brass boots for this application? Ty, bro

Hi Tek, great review. I have not been able to wear Red Wing 875 or Thorogood Mod Toes due to the relatively narrow and straight lasts of these boots. I remember you had an issue with the Thorogoods and had to move up in width. How was the comfort on the Brass Boot last? Do you feel going up to an E is advisable in this last? Thank you and keep up the good reviews!!

Trying to size mine, also went 1/2 down Brannock and my heel feels slightly loose. When you lift your toes up, where about on the boot do they sit? (I guess relative to the moc toe stitching)

Are they less narrow across the ball of the foot than the red wing moc? Similar volume? Better heel hold? Do you take the same size in both?

I take the same in both but I find the RW 875 narrower at the waist to ball, but a little more volume (height) in the vamp/toe box

i bought the Brass boot in color 8. at first out of the box i loved them. seemed like a great deal at a high quality. but after owning them for several months I'm disappointed. There just isn't any place for them and they have become my least favorite boot and almost a pair I only wear so they are not wasted. They feel clunky without feeling robust. They are definitely not a work boot. Very easy break in period, but never really became comfortable. They really are not a business casual boot either. They seem to scuff ridiculously easy and don't really shine back up very easily. so after their original new condition they just don't look as dressy as I had expected. The color 8 seems to dim quickly and always seemed to look dirty. They are also really heavy on the feet, which would be fine if they were a robust work boot, but they are not. They have large lugs, but are too heavy to be a hiking boot. they have found a weird niche where they look like they would be well rounded and good for many uses but in reality are not good for any use. regret the purchase
