They are SO COMFORTABLE. And although I’m not a work boot style guy (I grew up in construction and it just seems weird) I do think they look cool out and about. Thanks for this review, it helped! Grant Stone are clearly a very, very good company. Incredible bang for the buck. I really get the impression the moc toe stitching on the Brass Boot, and/or the last used, was intentionally designed to avoid comparisons to the Alden Indy, especially since Grant Stone themselves always get so many (usually favourable) comparisons to Alden. But, there's just something about the moc toe stitching on the Brass Boot that doesn't do it for me - it's just not as refined as the Indy, and not as rugged as a Red Wing or similar. I won't knock anyone who loves it, but it's just shy of perfection to me.

The problem with the Grant Stone brass boots is that the moc stitching leaks water in like crazy. Just being in the rain for a couple minutes and your socks are wet. If you submerge them for longer than several seconds your feet are soaked.

I don't buy Chinese boots, they ruined my feet. it took me two years of watching these videos and going through about 8 boots to finally give up and figure out that this last might fit me best. I have a taller instep, the PNW boots are great but their last is made for children's feet and the breaking in period is torture. I'm in my boots 12 hours plus a day and average 15k steps, when I finally got these and put them on it felt like a revelation. They were snug but comfortable. The last felt it was designed around my foot. I might even be able to go a half size smaller and take an extra day or two of breaking in next time. I'm a 12 in sneakers, 11 on the PNW boots and got these at 11.5, they're absolutely stunning in person. I have them in black cxl with the heel. It was a big expense but I'd rather have one boot for 4 years than 8 in two years. I'm a big boy and annihilate shoes quick.
