Hey Lizz, the only backseat gaming advice that I can give you is after being attacked by dogs, check your health. I've noticed that you forgot to do that after you entered the hospital gate. Good playthrough. 57:38 is my favorite part lol.

I totally agree about the atmosphere. It could definitely be said that this game's graphics are "primitive," especially compared to what we're capable of today, but the fact that they managed such a great, haunting atmosphere within those limitations speaks volumes about their talent. I've always said that I'm the wrong person to ask when it comes to game graphics anyway. My philosophy has always been, "If I can tell where and what everything is, your graphics are great." lol

Soundtrack is great in Silent Hill and it's made from same composer across whole series. One thing i just realized is how psx graphics unintentionally adds to horror atmosphere with its wobbly textures like you have a feeling sometimes even inanimate objects are moving.

I think you would really like FEAR EFFECT, its a unique survival horror game from PS1, the art and music is wild. Its a long one with four disks and a sequel with four more so, plenty of content there. It is quite the challenge and a real grinder, lots of puzzles, boss fights that feal like puzzles, problem solving, and a great story line. It was really something when it hit the streets, and still very much is to this day. I don't know how I managed to beat those games as a kid.

@@LIZZgame no there is another one in different section of silent hill but you must explore and find someone and something in a motorcycle then you will know it worked the best good ending only requires those two and the bottle you WILL know when you need to use it sorry won't spoil it

don't kill the enemies on the streets, just run. never use melee weapons, just equip the pipe to break the padlock. you can only enter pink and purple buildings.

You're welcome! I hold in camera + run almost all the time. Remember to turn off flashlight BEFORE entering rooms to avoid monsters noticing you. Then WALK past them;-)

the fourth floor trick as a kid was one of the more unsettling moments ive had in games. you dont really get mind games like that after sh4. which after 4 all of it was western developed Sh games and they seem to have a more straight forward approach. they even took the more direct approach of transitioning you into the alternet world that was set by SH movie via world peeling like paint. in the team silent games you would often be met wtih a trick of the environment you were in whether it be a magically appearing 4th floor or going through a clock tower or climbing a ladder. i think it was the strongest in sh 1 and 2.

most things in this game that only require using a key item without needing to solve a puzzle is really simply solved by just literally trying to use all the key items in your inventory. by trial and error you dont even have to guess. that was my approach as a 12 year old lol.

I commented the other day that 10 year old me was terrified of certain parts of this game, as you've just played it, I can now tell you that the hospital was one that really freaked me out back then, watching you play it brought back some not so pleasant memories 😂

Knowing how much you like SH1, be nice if you also played SH2 then SH3. With Silent 3 you play as a female with a very dark past linked to silent hill. Very cool trilogy of games.

I have good reason to fear and loathe hospitals. Ten years ago my father had cancer and I was with him every week for a year, he passed away and soon my mother was diagnosed with the same thing and it all started all over again

41:55 I think they were trying to add a connection to the idea of the coal fires burning underground - I was never a fan of the occult stories in the Silent Hill series, so I kinda liked the idea that they took a different route with the movie. I was more interested in the psychological stories of SH2 and Downpour.

I played a little in the beginning then I cut it off, so I don't wanna spoil it for myself here. Lol. I'm glad people like me & you & others take it back in the day. Love old school games!! Honestly these were the best games to play. From what we have today, I'm glad we really appreciate old school console games. because, THEY WERE THE BEST! 😊❤

Hi Liss, there is a button to focus the camera, some bosses will be off the screen if you don't use it, it doesn't help in the fight but it's cool when you see them, a lot of youtubers miss it. Sorry if you already figured it out, I'm behind on the videos.

Let me introduce a strategic thought to you regarding games that have ammo and health items. Treat them as one single value. (ammo avoids injury and melee avoids ammo reduction) So if you have 10 bullets and 10 health kits try to dodge or use close combat. But if you have 150 bullets and 1 health kit then shoot everything and never use close combat. So like trying to keep a balance is good with a slight preference on which one is prefered by the game (usually ammo since mostly big fights are inevitable). If you have 10 times the ammo and guns that you can carry when you face the last boss in the end you didnt use them at all and it robbed you of the fun of having used those against the normal enemies. 🙂 (I thought that especially when I saw you play RE but also here where you tried to melee every enemy - it makes for an interesting viewing experience though)

@@LIZZgame Try to get the PC version and play Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition, it is a fan-maintained patch with bugfixes, better controls, upscaled graphics and text, widescreen support, 60 FPS etc

​@@user-xk5hf3kl5k Same here. The story is awesome in SH2, along with the game play and atmosphere....but when it comes to scares and dread throughout, SH3 is the one. SH4 is good, not to the level of the first 3, but there are some good mechanics and interesting ideas.
