I know you posted this ages ago but I went to see ‘Musical Box’ last night who were astounding and I decided to make it my life’s mission to be able to play Cinema Show. Thanks very much for doing this tutorial- much appreciated. I’ll have to save up for a 12 string though!!! :-)

Absolutely brilliant video and charts for arguably the most beautiful of Genesis tunes. Have adored it for decades. Thank you so much.

Wonderful lesson and great presentation style, Rob, thank you! I am now in the process of convincing my wife of my need to buy a second 12-string guitar so that I can keep one in "Cinema Show" tuning.

Thanks Rob - especially for the tuning !!!! This song was going through my head over the weekend and i was ready to take a crack at it. I knew it had to be in some kind of semi-open tuning - thanks for taking the mystery out of it. This will blow my audiences mind when i get it down and play it live !!! Thanks again !!!!

Late to the party, but thanks for the arrangement! I didn’t realize quite the alternate tuning in this one. This song is fantastic end to end.

Nice video and accurate. Just a thought, no need to replay so many things as it's a recorded VIDEO! When you teach, leave all the parts first, then play the whole song. Doesn't need to be 16 minutes.

Thanks for that Rob. I’ve never had a 12-string but now feel a desperate urge to get one! One of my favorite Genesis pieces for sure….Blood on the Rooftops and Horizons. Thanks so much for this. Will you be doing a second part to this…..would love to play the whole thing?

Rob - top notch video as always. Boy did that track bring back memories of my undergrad days listening to Phil Easton play progrock on Radio City. Happy days and memories. Will have to get the 12 string out (a 70th birthday present to myself) and retune it. "Suppers Ready" has been going through my head this week - another classic. Take care. Regards from NZ.

Well thanks for that , I thought my urge to once again buy a twelve string had dimished (it usually pops up around Xmas time due to greg lakes " I believe in ... ) but after only a few bars of cinema show I'm already scouring the Web. Many thanks for this lesson. I was wondering if you could cover the opening to ' farewell to kings ' by Rush also ' hope' by Rush is a great one for twelve string. Once again many thanks

Now you've done it. I thought about it after your Solsbury Hill lesson. I have no choice but to buy a 12 string! ......I've been looking for an excuse. Well done, as always.
@fennahrob69342 жыл бұрын
Good man. Get that 12 string. Incidentally, Solsbury Hill is actually played on a couple of 6 strings. I did it on a 12 to sparkle it up and give the impression of 2 guitars. 🤣

D’ya know what? As long as I’ve got a hole in my ar$e I’ll never be able to play ‘Never going back again’. But …. If I can get to the point where I can do a reasonable rendition of this, I’ll die happy 🙈😂😎👍
@arthurmee21 күн бұрын
Are your charts still available? The download doesn't work?
Take a look at the vid and accompanying paperwork for tuning. It’s something unique to Genesis, not a ‘normal’ tuning. 👍🏻

Is it possible to play this on a six string and still retain something of the original?
@fennahrob6934 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, not really. Cinema Show features a really odd tuning on some of the ‘paired’ strings. Ie. They’re not tuned at octaves. This is what gives the track its unique sound. Even Steve Hackett, who didn’t play the 12 string on the recording, has to use a few instruments to get the same effect when he does it live. Solution; get a 12 string. ✌️
