Yeah Su's crowd control ability wasn't at full power this time, she actually had to call for circle pits...fast forward a few years at the Metal Galaxy concert, all she did was give a death stare and twirl her finger, and pits were opening up all over the place. 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘

Good reaction, thanks! I'm scared when I see them in these outfits and makeup. 😁 No, seriously, they look badass. 2018 was a very tough era for them. This was while Yui wasn't able to perform and they had to change the formation and all the choreo. And also the costumes, the hairstyle, the makeup... It didn't work well and many "fans" that wasn't very happy let them know (euphemism, of course). So, they went back to the classic triangle formation by the end of the year (after Yui's official departure) with Saya Hirai covering the third position. The next year they implemented a system formed by three dancers called "Avengers" rotating in a out to complete the formation. They were Kano Fujihira, Riho Sayashi and Momoko Okazaki. Then 2020 happened, went on hiatus in 2021 and Momoko seemed to be the only Avenger available at the time even when they resumed their activities one year later. Finally, Momoko was announced as an official member on April 1st 2023. And the general response of the fans was absolutely positive this time. 🤘🦊

The only reason a big pit did not appear was the lack of room . Su loves the UK crowd she conquered them on the mainstage at Sonisphere in 2014 and mainstage at Download 2016 😁 Nice to see you return to the BabyMetal foxhole I am still suffering the effects From being sucked into a BabyMetal pit at The Roundhouse in London on the 27th . They did two back to back nights 27 and 28th, and was lucky enough to go to both . They also performed at Wolverhampton on the 29th . Surrgest you react to their first metal festival outside Japan . Wow, I absolutely love this performance. One of the things that struck me most was how Su just embodies the vision of a metal goddess. Hearing your comment about her looking nervous caught me totally off guard. Su at this stage of her career is such a seasoned pro and if she is known for anything it is her commanding stage presence...going back to her early teens. Well I guess we're each welcome to see what we see but as previously mentioned I've loved every aspect of this performance since I first stumbled onto it.

Recently I was in Vienna and Munich to their headline EU/UK tour (my 2nd and 3rd BM shows) and as always it was amazing.They are a great live band... definitely an experience you need to have ;)

I guess a lot of it has to do with the time this song was performed, I mean not about the Yui situation etc I mean the actual time of day lol and this song imo has a very different vibe from other BABYMETAL songs, it's energetic but I'd say it's a very poppy energy, btw something energetic but also melodic.

_Show me big circle!_ 🦊👇💫🏃‍♂️ The queen is commanding, she's not scared, she's fearless. Glad to see you're back with more BM songs, this time going back to Metal Galaxy 3rd album. This song is a banger and Japanese fans really like this song, they usually play this in their concerts like recently at Europe & UK Tour and throughout all setlist of this World Tour 2023. This was in 2018 when YuiMetal about to leave the band for good, sadly. Usually this song came after "In The Name Of" intro during live performance, is part of the Dark Side of this Metal Galaxy album and got Sepultura vibes, a tribute to another Brazilian metal band that the creator love and respect. Distortion was supposed to be a live premiere song with YuiMetal dancing at Legend S 2017 SuMetal 20th birthday, but that never happened. Song talks about internal and external conflicts in your own mind, and another face of SuMetal, that's why KobaMetal choose another singer to represent the other side with the growls. The 3rd album Metal Galaxy and live performance version after 2019 got the growlings collaboration of Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy. There's also and official MV but none of the girls featured there only CGI and images related to the Chosen Seven lore, so don't mind reacting to it, you can watch it in your own time if you want, is still kinda cool. This drastic costume changes was during Dark Side era, and they're looking so badass. After this tour, dancers were replaced by a new set of dancers rotation system called _avengers,_ but none of them have a mic or sing, they just dance, but in this era and live tour they were backing up by these two backup dancers called "muscle-metal" by the fans, during big live concert at "Dark Night Carnival" 2018 they put more dancers and a temporary dancer filling the third spot of YuiMetal. Here MoaMetal was dancing behind SuMetal. The Kami Band there were: ISAO and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars. BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, the only change here was ISAO because Mikio Fujioka (a beloved Kami Band guitarist) past away by this time (R.I.P.), it was really a "dark side era" when this two sad events came to this group, without YuiMetal and Mikio the guitarist. Btw probably this song took some inspiration from Children Of Bodom - Trashed, Lost And Strungout, so it is melodic death metal. Next suggestion: - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997 (2013), Gans Tomas got this usually safe to react under "Head Bangya" title. Btw they confirmed Download Festival 2024, so hope you can get the chance to see them live. See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

⚡ 💕 / ☀ The guitar you mentioned was ISAO's. It's an eight string ESP E-II. He has a few signature models. The Eastern Kamis are known for using Kemper Profiling Amps, so that's probably what was on stage. Guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura is rocking his ESP Snapper 7 Ohmura custom (in Twinkle Pink). Bassist BOH has his six string Atelier Z BOH custom. As far as Su looking scared is concerned, this is a serious song, so she has a serious face. : )

As mentionned by another post, this was a weird time for the band. Up until 2018 they had a very specific look with pigtails and tu-tu's and I think Su was a little worried that if they took away those elements it might not be well received. They grew up a lot in 2018.

Thanks for this reaction. 5:11 yes, Kemper, Babymetal is a pretty diverse sound, my guess is they actually use multiple profiles in 1 show. Su-metal isn't as much scared, at mosh nervous.but they were definitely not as happy performing as usual because of everything that was going on. Less self-confidence is maybe a better description. And maybe for a good reason, because Babymetal wasn't firing on all cylinders like they used to. The temporary formation at the time also did not allow Su-metal and Moametal to communicate by glancing at each other. They were performing behind each other instead of next each other (or as a triangle). These means they were both more isolated on the stage.

By the way, Sleep Token was an opening band for Babymetal in 2019 for 1 show at Brixton Acadamy, London (after they had performed at Glastonbury ! Not that great audio sadly), the other opening band was Amaranthe. Those that loved one of the opening bands couldn't get into the other. The visitors/Babymetal fans were completely split. It was actually kind of interesting.

During that 2018 tour Babymetal was in a trying time. The departure of Yui-metal and the sudden death of guitarist Mikio put them in a terrible position. Su often talked about how nervous and uncertain they were during their shows on that tour.l so you might be picking up on that. It definitely was a different vibe seeing them during that time looking back. Still amazing but now just having seen them again on this past tour there is a fire back. With Momo being an official 3rd member and the new music the girls seem to have boundless energy and a supreme enjoyment and playfulness in everything they do.

saw them perform in wolverhampton a few days ago and it was extraordinary, their energy is unmatched. as other people have said, this was a bit of a rough time for the band, but rest assured that Su is scared of no crowd lmao, she has been performing in front of huge audiences for most of her life, she's a natural at it glad you liked it! would love to see you look at the first take version of monochrome, it's so beautiful and really shows off Su's amazing talent as a singer!

Great reaction. No Su wasn't scared, she was playing a part and her facial expressions will have been far more likely to be related to the song. The UK crowds don't scare them, they consider the UK as their second home ever since they played Sonisphere in 2014. If there was ever a time when they might have had any reason to be scared it was then ... their first time in the UK, their first major event outside of Japan and the biggest crowd they had ever played to at that time. They were originally booked to play a small side stage or tent with maybe 2 or 3 thousand people, but the video for 'Gimme Chocolate' went viral (that was almost certainly the one you saw that put you off 10 years ago - yes leave that alone for a while, get used to them a bit more first) and they were moved to the main stage with just a couple of months notice. There were threats made on social media of this "joke/gimmick" band being booed and bottled off stage (Su was 16, Yui and Moa just had their 15th birthdays in the days before) but most of the crowd didn't have a clue who they were. From back stage they couldn't see the crowd at all and they were worried what they should do if nobody had come to see them. When they walked out they were surprised to see over 50k very puzzled looking UK metalheads. You think Su looked scared here, 4 years later ... at Sonisphere 2014 where she had every reason to be scared she saw the huge, potentially hostile but puzzled looking crowd and she has said in an interview that she thought to herself "This will be fun. Let's knock it out of the park!" They opened with 'BABYMETAL Death' and then played 'Gimme Chocolate' and Su even tried to get that UK crowd to sing along ... in Japanese.🤣 They played 5 songs, just 25 minutes to win the crowd over .... MartinMetal has posted the link to the last song of the set and I agree that should be your next reaction - listen at the end to hear whether they had won the crowd over.

If Su was nervous about this one I can understand it. This was during the time when they were two and they put her right out front. She can’t see anyone else so it’s just her and the crowd. In the Babymetal reacting to Babymetal, I believe Su mention that she like it when the choreography had them facing each other as it does in a few of the early songs because it made her feel better on stage.

Haha, Gimme Chocolate would probably be the song to do you in back in the day🤣. It is, by design, a very divisive song, alternating between heavy thrash metal and ultra-poppy vocals with an extreme child-like playfulness. This makes sense, as they were 16/14 at the time and a major part of Babymetal's earlier charm. This, of course, matured and progressed as they grew into their mid-20s today. If you do end up reacting to Gimme Chocolate, be sure to do the Legend 1997 version (the 2013 concert celebrating lead Su-metal's 16th birthday), to experience the "Kawaii" (cute) in its full glory. THEN, react to BABYMETAL DEATH, the epic concert closer from the same show. The reason: you'll get to see the true dichotomy of Babymetal with their playful cutesiness in Gimme Chocolate, then do a complete 180 and go hard AF for a closer that rivals an Alice Cooper stage show. This will help you fully understand Babymetal, haha. 😉👌 Also, you mentioned Su-metal's "nervousness" in this performance. Here is why: This 2018 performance took place shortly after Yuimetal officially left the band after a 1-year hiatus due to health (These gals performed together since they were 12/11 in 2010, so it's like losing a sister to them). Kami Band guitarist Mikio also passed away unexpectedly due to an accident earlier that year. It was a rough time for the girls and the group, with lots of changes as well, and they weren't sure how their international fans would accept the "new Babymetal" so kudos to them for still putting on a rocking performance despite all that transpired and the uncertainties. Other suggestion: 1). Rondo of Nightmare (Live - Budokan 2014): Includes an epic band intro, so you will definitely see every band member on full display, along with the gear they are rocking. 2). Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live - Sonisphere UK 2014): First ever major metal festival outside of Japan. This is the iconic performance that won over a large amount of the 55K confused UK metal heads who experienced Babymetal for the first time and cemented Babymetal on the world stage of metal outside of Japan. 3). Karate (Live - Download UK 2016): The promoter said back in 2015, that Babymetal would never be invited to Download because he felt they were not right for it. Dragonforce snuck them in and performed together in 2015 on stage. No one will truly know if it's a ploy for attention but Babymetal was definitely invited to Download 2016 🤣. Also, it was raining, and Babymetal still got the crowd going hard despite puddles all over the stage. Now, I know you reacted to Karate already, so feel free to just watch this on your own. 🤘🦊

I remember reading an article by a music journalist who stated that they counted over 20+ pits going on at the same time during a BABYMETAL headlining concert in Japan. It was during New Year Fox Festival at Saitama Super Arena in January 2015!🤘🦊🤘 (edit: updated with correct concert/venue)

I’m not sure about Su being scared, but if there is any chance of her being a bit uneasy, it has probably more to do with this being a performance without Yui in the picture and not having a dance duo beside her. It might not seem like much, but having them be an official trio does have an effect on the performance and even the studio production. Look no further than BxMxC and how being a duo of Su and Moa effects the story of the song. It improved a bit after they had 3 backup dancers fill in the role that Yui left during their live performances, but it still wasn’t the same. Things are back to better than ever as of this date sense they made Momometal an official member of the group, reestablishing the trio dynamic.

Babymetal loves England, they consider it their second home on the road. This concert was at a rough time for Babymetal. Their lead guitarist passed away earlier in the year, and the third member of the trio was injured and unable to perform, she would later withdraw from the band. But there were a lot of unknowns about the band when this happened, it was a festival crowd so not packed with Babymetalheads, so a lot going on. And it's a serious song, "kill all the hypocrites and abandon them" being a favorite line. Alyssa White Gluz 0f Arch Enemy on the harsh vocals btw.

I don't think Su-Metal is scared of anything, at least when it comes to performing. Her fearlessness is one of the reasons why Koba got the idea to form Babymetal in the first place. If she is showing any fear, maybe someone in the crowd is dressed as a frog. :)

I'm pretty sure their lack of confidence has to do with the fact that it wasn't long ago that yui left the band and Mikio passed away. It was Babymetal's dark era if you want to call it that. In any case, I agree that Su doesn't seem as confident as usual. But I'm just as sure that it has nothing to do with the download crowd;)

Moa also looked much more serious, not just in this video but throughout the entirety of the Metal Galaxy tour. They definitely did their best trying to keep it together and to enjoy performing as much as possible. But if you're a bit more perceptive, you'd realize there was a looming sense of anxiety/uncertainty(?) in them at all times. It was less noticeable when they performed in Japan though.

@@i.shuuya3231 They definitely look very happy and content now, in 2023 than any other time but they are not lacking confidence here. There was some worry at the beginning of the 2018 US tour. They talked about that. That worry was mostly put to rest after the the first few shows as the crowds became very supportive. I remember some fans way back in that Kansas City show claiming Moa was crying or Su was insulting Yui, etc. If they were that thin skinned theyu could have never survived what they had to deal with from haters from the start.
