There are places in the country that circumstances might permit a left on red. For example, the way Idaho law is written you can turn on a red light so long as you don't have to cross opposing traffic. As such, you can turn left on red so long as your turning onto a 1 way street from a 1 way. Maybe she if from a state with a similar law though I can't say for sure.

That last blond must have been a relative of a woman I met many years ago. Back in the day when there was full service gas stations we got all kinds. I was in my early 20's and working an extra job in a filling station. One day a very nice dressed young woman, I would guess she was mid to late 20's, drove in and told me she had a tire that needed repaired. She told me some guy stopped and changed the tire for her and told her to bring it to the station for repair. She got out and opened the trunk and as I was lifting the tire out she said to me, "you know, I never knew those things had air in them." I never said a word. I just fixed the tire.

In almost all states you can make a left turn on red if you're turning from a one-way street to a one-way street. A few states also allow turning left on red from a two-way to a one-way street. Rhode Island, however, allows neither. And that lady went left on red from a one-way to a two-way, which is a ticket in every state.

Being a citizen lawyer, as Judge Caprio puts it, I looked up the Rhode Island drivers manual, and indeed it is NOT mentioned a motorist can make a left on red. In Massachusetts, New York, Texas (and probably others) the drivers manual states a left on red can be made (after stop) where two one way streets intersect. Either way, she never stopped!

In Missouri when I learned to drive, it was legal to make a left from a one way road onto a one way road with a red light and no other signs. Drove the person doing the training course nuts with that one decades ago, I had the rule book open to the page waiting to mention it.

The first case, I won two tickets the same way: on technicalities. 1, the ofc couldn't see my light bc of the same truck blocking the light. Vic Miller was Topeka's Caprio. I and the ofc couldn't see the light. I won. 2nd, got a ticket for expired tags...2 days after they expired, and 4 days after my truck was stolen. Literally got ticketed for my reported stolen truck getting parked and blocking an alley. Thanks Topeka PD! Friggin ticket my stolen truck before telling me y'all found it!

In my part of the country, you can in fact turn left on red in two situations: 1. Turning from a two way street onto a one way street. 2. Turning from a one way street onto another one way street. I would wager a guess that there are many other states where at least one of these situations is also legal. :)

Sir, you can legally turn left on a red light in several states under specific conditions. In MN for example if your on a one way street and making a left turn onto another one way street ( which is what the video shows ) that is legal as long as you came to a stop ( she did not come to a complete stop as far as I could tell. There are other exceptions in some states as well. Usually involving a motorcycle being unable to trigger the turn signal when waiting for the light to change.

I would point out that there are several states where you can turn left on red if there is no oncoming traffic and it isn't a dual carriageway. Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, California, and I believe Colorado have these laws. Essentially, if you have a one way road and you're turning left onto a one way road, you can legally treat the left hand turn as a right hand turn is.

For the left turn violator, it's hard to tell but that road is a two direction road from what I saw, thus making it a violation to not stop and wait for the turn light. If it was or is, a one way road, where she isnt crossing a lane opposing her left direction making her turn, then it's not illegal.

I can't believe you have to go to court for all these violations. Its such a waste of courts time. In my country you get a ticket that's it. You pay it or make arrangements to pay it off in installments. If you don't make any effort to do either one they cancel your licence until contact is made.
