What a beautiful city!! We so often overlook cities like this in favor of cities like London and Paris. We are missing out on a great deal of beauty and charm. However, when you Don't have unlimited travel funds, you tend to go with things that you know about and have always dreamed of going to.

(Don't worry, you can enjoy them even if you're not a hiker and then jump in some thermal pools or attend a sauna show - trust me, it's out of this world experience.)

I've been living in Slovakia for almost 6 years now, it's a beautiful country. We have everything, old stunning cities, mountains, hot baths and good food. And good drinks, not just alcoholic drinks. There's a huge selection of non alcoholic drinks, my favourite is conker water (that sounds so weird in English), and lavender "beer".

@@gloria_vdcof course. Rajec water has different flavour, both still (materina dúška, mäta)and sparkling (gaštan, egreš). You can also try Magnesia or Saguaro from Lidl, but I like Rajec the most. With non alcoholic beer i like Zlatý Bažant Radler (lavandula, baza a citrón), there's Birrell as well (polotmavy citron, višňa) or Cool. So many good ones! With alcoholic drinks I recommend Tatratea, peach flavour is particularly tasty How long have you lived here?

I absolutely LOVE Bratislava (I am from Vienna), it's one of my favorite cities ever (next to Prague, Venezia, Dublin). I have visited it a lot and I always fall in love again and again.

Half of my mother's family is from Slovakia (Pohorela, specifically) and she visited back in '05. She still tells stories of how beautiful Bratislava was and how magical it was to visit the places her grandparents had told her about growing up. Sharing a family name with a mountain is one thing, but hearing one of my favorite creators talk about this city is a whole new flavor of excitement!

This was so awesome! Like you said, not many people know about it, and that is what makes it beautiful. There's honestly way more tourists in Košice, and way more native Slovaks and Czechs coming to and from Bratislava, because on its history and not too much modernization. But the whole country in general is gorgeous. I reccomend taking 2-3 weeks to drive/take a train around the whole country.

It's nice city for one day trip from Vienna. It's only one hour away. It's not cheaper surprisingly but the centre is pleasure to walk through. Only one problem many cafes and restaurants don't except cards, cash only.

Lol, my favorite depiction of Bratislava is from National Lampoon’s Eurotrip. The whole movie is silly stereotypes but it’s still funny, and Europeans love it just as much. They like to see the exaggerated takes just as much as we enjoy the depictions of Americans in Japanese and European media. Yee hawwwww!!! “Eh! I love America!! Where’s the beef! Eh! Bratislava has a nice city centre, however, that's it. Outside of this cute and really small centre its a not very nice and mostly quite dirty and unpleasant city. And the centre suffers a lot due to the incredibly stupidly designed bridge.
