As a Norwegian; I´m happy with this series! Shows every angle, culture and the great experiences this country has to offer. This host is also very likable, down to earth and genuinely interested in the things he´s shown. Great stuff!

Do you normally use "tusen takk"? We say something similar in Gaelic "Go raibh míle maith agat" (thousand thanks)
@elizabethbennet47917 жыл бұрын
Im American and I agree, because it feels as if he savors what he tastes and the pace of filming is slower unlike some of the others. :D
@Biring17 жыл бұрын
I use that sometimes when I´m being very polite. I´m from the city so I use the short version "takker" a lot ;)

I was missing a bit of how Norwegians farther inland cook. We mostly got how they cook and what ingredients they use along the coast, with only a couple exceptions. Taking a look at the rural east and midwest (Hedmark, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Buskerud, Telemark) would've given a view into a completely different side of Norwegian cooking, with a lot more mutton and deer dishes than you find along the coast or in Sami cooking.

One of my favorite mini series, Amazing host, really keeps the show alive and his passion for food and everything about it is touching. Would love to see him host more, he isn't scared to try anything, Well done Munchies!!

This show was absolutely amazing! One of my favourite things on this channel by far. He's like a young Irish version of Anthony Bourdain. Except I don't think I've ever heard Bourdain use the word "pubes" so many times in his show, lmfao.

I know this is an old comment but he was actually in an episode of no reservations! he was working at Noma before he moved to Maaemo and he's in that episode for like 20 seconds

Munchies should definitely keep this guy around to do more travels around the world. Next the should send this bloke out to Jamaica or some place tropical and warm weathered. He needs some sun for sure lol.
@henlolneh7 жыл бұрын
He is a sous chef at a 3 michelin restaurant top 50 restaurant in the world! I'm pretty sure food and cooking is his passion but more so leaning towards the actual cooking aspect since he has worked his way up to sous at a 3 mich before the ripe age of 30. If he stays at Maeemo and they stay 3 mich for the next 2-3 years, he will have job offers from around the world to become chef de cuisine. Having his name out like this on Munchies is just garnering bigger interest from venture capitolists who in the future might want to invest in whatever project chef Halaigh chooses to take up after Maeemo! This is the beast of the fine dining world. Chef/owners literally groom cooks for 4-5 years until they are nearly bad ass or just as bad ass or maybe even more bad ass then they themselves. Then that cook sort of gets confined in the environment of his mentor. His mentor decides for the most part to let his butterfly fly and find his own home. It is actually quite glorious and lovely how this usually works out in most top 50 kitchens.
@mikeknight427 жыл бұрын
well life changes .. a passion for bringing food to others is not a bad goal for a chef. If it is through film do you blame him? Most people can't afford to eat around the world on 100 bucks a plate so someone giving us a primer is not really that important. Seriously who cares about michelin stars ... its basically a glorified tour guidebook for rich people.
