@@aaronskrenes6396 Your "person with a heartbeat" is a clump of molecules, that is still scientifically a part of the mother. Maybe try something other than relying on sayings to establish an argument next time.

Thank you for the video, Heimler! I love these concise reviews and they're super helpful for studying. However, it's important to note that the gay liberation movement didn't only involve gay people. Even in the 60s and 70s, many, many other LGBTQ+ people were involved; for example, some of the most important leaders in the Stonewall Riots were transgender women, especially trans women of color such as Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. *Then and now, the LGBTQ+ community and LGBTQ+ rights movement do not only include gay (and lesbian) people.* While they're incredibly important in the community, it's vital to also recognize people with other non-cishet identities; our historical and even present existence and activism is far too often erased. (*I've read the CED's topic overview on this and I understand that the College Board doesn't do much to clarify this; however, I believe that as a teacher and content creator you do take some important responsibility in disseminating this information and, therefore, fixing some of the College Board's mistakes where possible.)

@@generalgrievous3731 Sure! And I think it would be okay to call it that, even, but without mentioning people of other identities, it becomes erasure.

collegeboard sucks with their LGBTQ+ curriculum, if you can even *call* it that. one tiny section about our history and they don't even mention Marsha at all?? even tho she DEFINED the movement by throwing the first brick at stonewall?? they erased the history of so many of their own students :/ maybe if collegeboard didn't monopolize education than another program could've actually spoken about us and our history properly.
@unnamedcryptid2827
@unnamedcryptid2827 3 жыл бұрын
@@dasanidani Yes, absolutely! It's for sure complicated on the whole "first brick" thing but yeah Marsha and other trans women were especially huge leaders at Stonewall and I've never once heard of her within the context of a history class. And definitely, College Board is honestly a huge scam and it's so frustrating how they clearly care SO little about the students taking their courses.

@filoboy_14 A lot of people don't! It's true that many might and I don't have stats on it or anything but from personal experience I've never heard this talked in my history classes, and I know many others don't either, which means a lot of kids don't know about it.
