A friend of mine had some car issue on the freeway and called for roadside assistance recently. They showed up super fast and fixed her issue then took off. Later AAA called her to apologize about the delay or something like that, at any rate she realized a random stranger had just appeared, fixed her car and left

I live in northern Minnesota and my tire unexpectedly blew up just a few miles out of town the night before Xmas Eve 2023. Just myself, my mom, her cute dog. Not one person stopped and Triple A had to get a tow truck from 2 HOURS AWAY just to get us 3 miles back to town so we could pack up, then drive, my mom's car 5hrs to Minneapolis to see my brother. Lol, a 4 hr round trip. Lol, I would have welcomed help from a stranger. 😂

you're right, dying doesn't hurt! i died 11 years ago of sepsis after finger surgery (improperly cleaned i.v. site) i didn't breathe for around 20 minutes, had an interesting time Out There, got to hang out with my old cat, Worthless who had passes years before. she was young again, healthy and purring. living with post sepsis syndrome, however, is very difficult.

Omg I just realised you finally covered this case! This is one of those that, being a local to Perth all my life, has been on my mind ever since it happened. I think back in 2020 I was begging you to cover this! I don't normally listen to your podcast as much because watching is more my thing, so it took me a while to see this come up. One note, Edwards WAS charged with the murder of Sarah Spiers, but was found not guilty due to insufficient evidence. It really grinds my gears that she never actually got justice. I will never stop wondering where Sarah is. Another interesting Perth case is another serial killer Eric Edgar Cooke, from back in the 50s and 60s. My mum became friends with his wife a few years after he was hung. And he was the last person to be hung in my state before corporal punishment was abolished here.

I can't even imagine how beautifully peaceful that family's day must've been up until finding Jane. I don't have any specific beliefs, except that certain people create certain paths. I choose to believe the innocence of that family connected with the innocence left behind my Jane. The mother who didn't leave her side until authorities arrived, because she wouldn't leave her alone again.... That's some pure humanity. I also have a feeling that the family has found the peacefulness now, in finding Jane. Giving her back to her family, and lending help in leading to her murderer.

This case was very prominent in the national news when I was about 16 and growing up on the other side of Australia. So I knew a fair bit about it, more though, since they charged Edwards & since his trial. But I began reading about it since I saw you covered it here. It strikes me as especially tragic that Ciara - having only arrived home to Australia ten days earlier from her travels - her mother made sure to tell Ciara about Sarah & Jane, probably upon hearing that she was going to have a night out in Claremont. So she _knew_ there was a bad guy stalking, taking and hurting women from the Claremont area. I can’t imagine her fear as she realised she had encountered him, and he intended to do her great harm. After so many years unsolved, I think most Australia had reached a point of thinking the Claremont Serial Killer was unlikely to get caught. It was amazing that he was.

I've worked in Eldercare & Hospice for decades, learned a long time ago thru work, it's not the dead we to worry about but the living. Also, my 30 yr old son was murdered on 6/28/19. As a mother who knows the pain of losing 1 this way, there's a type of kinship we share/feel. I wouldn't be able to leave another mother's child out there alone.

It's rough taking a list of names and questioning them, informal or not. A woman was assaulted and said her attacker sounded black, but she didn't see them. The University of New York at Oneonta (in the immediate area) turned over a list of all black students to the police. The police used this list to question every person on the list and see if they had scratches, because he was scratched during the attack. I don't know if they ever found the attacker, but even the victim said it was wrong to go about it the way they did.

I'm American, & while I've been sober for 16 years, I was an active addict most of my life, & broke plenty of laws. I've never committed any sort of violent crime, I was never charged with assault or worse, but twice I had to give my DNA to the system. My feeling, even during those years, was that I was choosing to break the law, & I understood that & dealing with cops & courts is just part of that life, so I never gave the cops a hard time, & I get that people worry about their DNA, but I'd worry about that if Trump won again & starts ranting about using the DNA for something crazy. But as it stands now, its very unlikely that anything would happen to me or "my DNA" in some way, but I'm happy to have given it, because we know that killers & rapists can be caught through family genetics, & I'm fine with bing a link in that chain if it solves a case.

Finally a true crime I can pipe in on! Hilarious that I am a Dublin girl who just ended up there. The synchronicity like…So… I lived in Perth when this happened and went to school right in Claremont. It was the nearest train station to our school and the whole area is a bit of a hub for drinking amongst the rich kids for that area. Very posh suburbs right by Peppermint Grove which is a suburb of multimillion dollar homes on the water. The pub they were going missing from was very popular but a bigger issue was that Perth girls were (and are I guess) sort of notorious for their long, blonde hair. The first thing anyone noticed with this was that he was going for girls with long blonde hair so there was a massive rash of girls cutting and dying it. The horror when another blonde went missing was such a shudder through the whole town which… tbh “rich Perth” is like a village. Lots of people outside of it but the wealthy really stick together there. People knew it was a taxi from the get. For the longest time the assumption or belief was that it was a taxi driver who was still around and it led to a bunch of changes to the rules there with cabs. Very common for people to train there and then taxi home and collect cars in the morning. Dads starting coming out to do pick ups like it was school again and there was a long line of daddies outside the bars there for months. That whole area is rich rich rich (I say this despite having been to school there: I was a Loreto on the Green girl in Dublin so always went to very good schools) and the horror that went on I think was in part to do with that. It was such a shock this happened in Claremont. A very D4 death if you know what I mean? But yes all those pubs stayed empty for a while but I notice there wasn’t a lot said about the wealth here but the big issue with all this was the WEALTH: everyone around there is stinking rich and the feeling that this might be some kinda… bogan revenge really ran wild. Just the belief it was someone stalking rich girls on purpose. Turns out the girls taken were for the most part not as posh as most who hung around there but the mention of the pubs being owned by the same guy… that’s what I remember being the conversation at the time but not about the link being the geography but the wealth of it. The same handful of families owned everything in the hunting grounds so it was hard to disengage it all from the idea that it was about the money. Turns out hardly anyone realised how rich everyone around there was really so it had nothing to do with it. We were all just being the shocked posh. So there ya go I will have to watch the end bc I moved back home to the aul sod in 97 and not back here for years so I dunno what came of it. I do definitely remember all the drama around blood testing etc bc nobody had an interest in human rights when beautiful rich girls were missing but yeah… so… go on then

Remember every taxi driver in the State had to give a DNA sample. They thought it was a taxi because they thought the girls would’ve been confident to get in a taxi. But it was a Telstra technician car in the end.
