I HATE barre chords with a passion. I’ve been teaching myself guitar for about a month now (using your lessons 🙂) and I’m completely comfortable with basic open chords. I’ve been avoiding barre chords but I’m now gonna take your advice and play them even when they sound terrible so they can sound good overtime. This is the song I’m starting with. Wish me luck!

Just a suggestion, if you like you can play the first part as an open G , but when you do the G to F part you can use barre chord G which makes it easy to move to barre F and back to G

Fun beginners song (except for the double time!). Love it!
@wowdogeful7 жыл бұрын
The double time part is pretty straightforward once you get the rythm going. If you have a metronome, start at a speed where you can easily get all strums right (downstrums to the beat, upstrums off beat), then go faster in increments of 10 bpm once you reach the song's speed of 113 bpm.

Marty, I have a question, when I was a young child and wanted to play the guitar, my brother said if you want to use my guitar, to teach yourself, I'm not restringing it!! You'll have to learn to play, right handed. Do you think it may have hindered my ability to a better, guitar player? I was to my standard an ok lead guitarist, much better than both my Brothers,but never satisfied with the overall performance! I had to stop playing for years. Do to being ill. But now after twenty some years, I started playing again, this time I won't stop till I drop dead! But I lost so much, the music theory, I still have the music in my head. But at 58 going on 59 I don't have time to relearn all that. It took me 5 years of music school . Is there a fast way to relearn the modes, all those scale patterns, I find myself trying someone's lesson, then going off, there scale pattern, because I here it in my head differently, I really love that dicky Betts style . My favorite sounds were the almanbrothers, Santa, that southern rock style. Is there a lesson style, that can teach this blues style without taking ten years? The other thing is s that, not in your teachings, but others they do two things drag it out or move so fast no one could learn, you know those guys that like to here themselves play. Well I know your time is important. I'm just tired of looking at online lessons, that if you were really there you'll never play to your upmost potential. Thank you Marty.Keep teaching lots of people like your teaching, mostly from what I here cause you don't chase out, and try to teach a song or riff, but not the way it's really played, you teach it as it sounds take care.
