The only reason these settings were worth anything is because it freed you up to have conversations or do a Q&A. Would absolutely prefer you play settings you find fun, especially on this channel, over settings that are “rank viable” but suck the fun out of the game.

My new ranked grind settings are dynamic and interesting, at least to me but definitely at the cost of being able to have any sort of long form discussion on a complicated topic since they require a lot more active mind.

What I observe after watching you for years: being the best is on your importance list. The broken rankings system gets you down again n again. Takes some joy away from you. We love your content, because you’re fun, intelligent, thoughtful, and interactive. We don’t want you to stop playing altogether. I believe you can lead a grassroots meta change. Orrr… just find the fun settings for us all.

Yeah I'm working on that. A new part of the problem is that in the act of teaching people how to play any novel or creative idea I come up with it then becomes less effective. Realistically we're running out of available options within the current content for Risk and unless SMG comes up with new game modes soon I'm going to have to branch out into another game.

Of course every time you do a cap roll, you come out negative... caps are broken. If you had come out positive like we have been seeing other people doing lately, you would probably have survived. But none the less good work as always

I notice that too, Pete rarely ever gets positive cap rolls, but his opponents seem to get them frequently.

The fact that caps are broken is the only reason he took that chance. You should never expect a flat or positive roll with that number on capital, yet because caps are broken, you get the flat roll close to 50% of the time. His losses here represent what one should roughly expect to lose when attacking a capital. Don't confuse negativity bias with capital conquest rolls being broken. That only serves to dilute the issue.

I think I get fair dice overall. But caps should go positive at larger numbers so rarely that it's clear the dice code still needs some work

@@FreePete In balanced blitz I noticed some fenomena, half of the time you lose big on a cap, like 2.5 x the troops on the cap, half of the time you get positive roll, no in between.

52:09 Exactly, these setting do blow. Not caring about rank or even winning anymore has made the game so much more enjoyable for me personally. Grinding it out to get to top 100 just isn't fun. Play the settings you love and don't worry about anything else.

Completely understandable. If a game mode rewards doing nothing it is fundamentally broken. I never understood why people would play this boring mess, ofc it is fun to win and having a guaranteed win by being the most patient. But in the end you are just the one guy in the lobby who values his time least. Anyway, ggs to the Peteman!

i like yourself and other risk players have been wondering why we have been playing alot of games where people bot out immediately, i have figured out what most of them are as i have encountered it myself atleast twice. its the blue screen of death, when you start a game instead of seeing the map and where everyones territories are you see a blue map instead locking you out of playing

Plenty of other fun maps to play prog caps. I remember a guy called Pete who made a tier list of Risk maps. Have you heard of a map called Alcatraz? 🤣

The black player played excellent! During the whole game he opened his opponents capitals so they could smack each other. He did everything he could to encourage you to smash into the red player. Too bad we can't know who won the game in the end. Ps Pete have you thought about going to the map called Earth 2209 A.D.? It seems to me that it being very big it allows more predatory players to get away with stuff they usually couldn't on smaller maos and it has a great potential both in fixed and progressive game modes.

RE: rank convo 4:00 - do you think there's an upper rank limit if playing on mobile only, or do you just need to change your play style and game selection (i.e. no 60s timer games)? I'm fairly new to the game, on intermediate approaching expert, and am wondering if I'll need to adjust my lay horizontally on the couch twiddling on my phone playstyle also, red capped so quickly, wonder if they had a brain fart having preplanned that cap and just didn't notice and adjust when you capped right next door, assuming you were going to take east Africa or something EDIT: 22:35 nevermind

They should make a semi caps mode, where you get plus one on one of the defending dice if you can defend with 2 dice. Like it's defensively stronger, but a 200 beats a 150 on average

You have mentioned North America being the best bonus according to required positions defended/amount of bonus. What territory in NA do you think makes the best capital, if any?

I wouldn't recommend capping in NA if you don't have to. If you have to probably a border point so that you can potentially take the bonus and still have your cap open

This is the exact reason i dont like or play caps. I want a quick 20-30 min game with action, where kills become profitable during the second set of trades. Not these stall, take a card and pass games, that become a total snooze fest.
