Lovely info on the Protea. One of the 3 designers of the Protea Triumph my dad John Myers are still going strong at 93 years young. The other 2 were Roland Fincher and Dr. Alec Roy both passed on.

There are many South African only "Specials" that came out over the years, BMW had the 333i and 325is evo 1 and 2, Opel had the Superboss and Kadett/Astra 200TS, Ford also had the Sierra XR8, Alfa Romeo had the GTV6 3.0, there are many many more that SA got that the rest of the world lost out on...

The owner of that museum seems like a fantastic bloke. Actually has a sense of humour and shows enjoyment of driving his cars compared to alot of other car museums. Great cars, too.

The chap in the interview, Wayne Harley, is actually the curator. The owner of the museum is Mr Johann Rupert.

I've been to that museum a few times. Last year they had a Father's day special and all the dads could go in for free. What a wonderful day!

289 is a 4.7L. Even the 302 which is called a 5.0L is actually 4.9L.

+Anthony B I have come across VW Kombis, from the early to late 80's, built in South Africa that came from the factory powered by Ford V6 engines. I have seen Hillman Hunters from from South Africa powered by Peugeot engines
