Considering the Browns play in one of the toughest divisions in the League, they are majorly screwed if Watson STILL failed to pan out. For one, they were the ones who gave him that mega deal that caused all the Lamar Jackson drama, and even after restructuring that contract, Watson still counts for nearly $64M on their salary cap for the next 3 years. Assuming the salary cap is $256M next year, that means a full quarter of the Browns' salary cap is tied to just one freaking guy! Oh, and the reset button is not an option either, cause the Browns gave up a lot of premium draft capital for this one guy, so they are not in a position to negotiate if they want to recoup some of their losses. It's kind of like choosing whether you want to be kicked in the head or the groin: it still hurts either way, with long-term ramifications.

But Watson ain't running like spring chicken anymore (CLE probably won't design run plays given how much invested), and his passing last year was mediocre. $230 mill fully guaranteed, 3 first round picks... I think the problem with CLE is the same as the Dolphins and Steelers. They’re good teams who would have 10 wins in any other year of the AFC especially last year (besides years 10 win teams missed the playoffs). It’s just that the AFC contenders are in a class of their own, and unless you hired Sean Payton to fix an offense that will pair with already stud defense, I don’t see any surprises with the playoff teams in the AFC, who will all have 11 wins (KC, CIN, NYJ, JAX, BAL, BUF, and DEN)

His options were to pay and not talk or never play football again. ................................................... This is over the top, obviously, a case of the plantation owners making an example of DeShawn Watson. "To all you other players, if you step out of line and think you can sit out on an owner and not play, this is what's going to happen to you." Anyone falling for this is gullible , falling for the schemes of the rich owners to dominate anyone who steps out of line. If you listen to any player, current or former, they never talk bad about DeShawn, as players, they understand what really happened.
