The Cavs have been a rising threat in the East the last 3 years. Each season has seen impressive improvements the last 5 years getting more wins and going deeper and deeper into the playoffs. Cavs vs Celtics in the ECF is a very likely possibility. That series could go either way imho, but one thing is certain: THE CAVS ARE NO FLUKE.
@cheetah219
@cheetah219 3 күн бұрын
It'll come down to health and defense. But, they are definitely a real team behind Mitchell. My main concern around the cavs is if they already peaked. Most teams don't want to be at their absolute best at the beginning of the season...that generates a lot of film for opposing teams to watch to find ways to counter them. If this streak was happening post all star break this cavs team is a bonafide contender. That said, this team reminds me of the nuggets who spent a few years maintaining the same core and continued to push further and further in the playoffs until they finally won. I still think the cavs need more depth, but there is no doubt they have the potential to be the best regular season team this year. The question will be how they look and who will be healthy come play off time

@@cheetah219 those are some pretty good points and are all very relevant. But what I say is this. I know people like to think that someone might peek early or you shouldn’t be this good this soon but in all honesty isn’t the goal of every basketball game to win? Like how can I fault the Cavs for being on a 15-0 win streak? For some reason the mentality is if they have a couple of losses, they are a healthy team, but if they’re on a win streak, I have to question it even though winning is better than losing. We certainly don’t have as much playoff experience as the Celtics do,, and you’re right about seeing if we can maintain this after the All-Star break, but like the other guy said teams that start historically have gone very far in the playoffs that same year.

If the situation was reversed and the Cavs third best player was out (Mobley IMO), but the Celtics were missing jrue, Pritchard, Hauser and another of your best bench players, you wouldn't be saying that Mobley missing has more of an impact than missing a third of your team. KP was the best player that sat this game out for sure. He doesn't have more impact than four other guys combined though. Especially when those four players are the first four options at small forward for the Cavs, and their two best perimeter defenders.

Considering the bench play in this game I’d say Cleveland gets worse contributions if they were healthy and Boston gets better. You sound as if you're implying garland not shooting well was dumb luck for the celtics. This was the celtics gameplan. You gotta give the celtics some credit for limiting garland. Especially horford. Garland didnt shoot well because of the celtics defense. There will always be someone on the opposing team whos going to not shoot well. Boston will always take at least 1 guy away. Also keep in mind that the cavs came back because they kept attacking queta. That was the cavs adjustment. Remove him and replace with KP and suddenly the celtics have no holes to exploit anymore. Sure the cavs were missing okoro, levert and wade. Put them in. Do the celtics lose a pressure point? Nope. They still go back to the original gameplan: take away 1 of spida or garland (bait mobley to score 2s while staying home on shooters just like last year's playoffs) and attack garland/spida (just like last years playoffs again). Okoro can be there but he can only guard 1 guy. Whoever hes not guarding simply attacks garland/spida. The celtics on the other hand lose their pain points with Kp replacing queta. Cleveland goes back to targeting al horford as the worst defender. We all know how that turns out in most games.

Exactly. This game just showed when Celtics lock down on defense, there’s no beating them. Cavs might win one or two on us this year, but I don’t think they’re taking us in a 7 game series. We have too many weapons and can adjust to any offense and defense. I’m only human tho, I could be wrong.

Facts 😂 they think the fact they were able to abuse one of our 4th stringers for a 3rd quarter “comeback” where they never even got the lead actually proves something. If anything its proof that they would get their asses handed to em if they both played healthy. 3 of their 4 missing players were at SF and craig porter jr (sf) was one of their only players who could make anything happen so i dont think it hurt them that much. With him off the court and kp back in they would have lost by like 50 pts 😂 honestly even if just kornet was available to relieve queta i dont see them making their little “comeback”. This type of nonsense doesnt even deserve to be addressed. Celtics dominated the entire game when queta wasnt on the floor. I like queta too dont get me wrong i think he will develop into a solid player but he’s technically our 4th string center n as far as i know it was his first time ever playing a full quarter. That should-ve been a blowout, not reserve players helping a comeback... KP does not tilt the scale because of all the teams in the league, the Cavs have 2 bigs that can athletically step out on the perimeter with him... Also Strus, Levert & Okoro didn't play either... Boston didnt even choke. It was just the queta matchup getting taken advantage of. He is a 3rd/4th stringer (depends who you ask) and has never played a full quarter before iirc. If u actually watched the game the celtics absolutely dominated anytime queta wasnt on the court. Not even saying anything bad about queta either. I actually like him he is just very green still but i dont think anyone is surprised that he would fair poorly playing an entire quarter in this type of high intensity game. Ppl just start narratives without even watching the actual games. All they see is the highlights. If u actually watched the game it was pretty clear that without missing two of our centers we would have completely blown them out. I dont wanna hear about their injuries either. 3 of those injuries were all at SF and craig porter jr was damn near their best player on the court. Taking minutes from CPJ wasnt gonna help them anyway. He was one of like 3 guys on their entire roster to make any momentum

Switch it the other way on the otherhand and the celtics only weak link in that game was queta (C) who is technically a 4th stringer himself and has never played a full quarter in the nba as far as i know. The whole 3rd quarter “comeback” was due to taking advantage of queta being on the court. You cant act like the cavs injuries had more effect on that game than the celtics being down 2 of their centers when that was the only weak position for the celtics and SF was one of the stronger performing positions for cleveland that night. Not a weird take but I’d take out the Knicks simply because they rely too heavily on Brunson and KAT. Believe it or not but Hart hurts them more than he helps them since he’s so one dimensional. He can’t shoot, finish, handle or facilitate at 6’4”ish. Celtics’ guards are sizable and versatile. This is also why the Cavs won’t beat us in 7. Garland just can’t compete with Jrue and White, Mitchell can’t guard Tatum or Brown and the Cavs in general rely on funneling players to their bigs at the rim. Celtics can go 5 out which mitigates that scheme. As you can see though, Cavs bigs dominate against us because of how versatile they are. Problem is, the league runs through guards and forwards, not bigs. Look at the history of NBA Champions in the last 10 years.

Cavs gotta button-up their perimeter defense. They have a lot of undersized and/or unathletic wings who can't match up with our guards/wings. They also try to funnel opponents into the paint as their defensive philosophy. That just plays in to Celtics drive and kick game. If Celtics launch threes AFTER getting two feet in the paint off the drive (and limit Queta's meaningful minutes), I don't think the Cavs can hang with the C's. @@vism2812FACTS bro. All they do is bring Porzingus. And the guy is basically useless because he’s hurt 90% of the time. And they ignore all the facts you stated. And they’ll claim the 4 players that the Cavs were missing are “all bums anyways” , just because they’re not stars or Celtics.

You’re going off of last year which is a completely different team. Don’t act like Al Horford is playing like every game. Celtics rely too much on the three. They cooked the Cavs from three and barely won. What happen when they shoot normally and the Cavs have their perimeter defenders back?

@ porzingis is amazing man. no other big got elite shooting and elite rim protection. but even he is not as impactful as a whole position group. cavs didnt just miss 4 players, they lost their first 4 options to start at SF. they started 6’4 sam merrill at the 3 and still switched everything with him and the guards. gonna be a lot harder when strus/okoro/wade/levert can take the tatum assignment.

Clevelands played a bunch of scrubs and lost when it counted. They never had the lead and were loosing by 21 at one point. With Zap back in the playoffs. Cavs dont stand a chance. When Celtics want the win its theirs.

Did you really just say that the Celtics are a bunch of scrubs??

No he’s saying everyone they played before this were scrubs, even though the cavs have played multiple very good teams lmao. Blew out the 10-4 lakers by 30. Blew out the #1 in the west warriors by 40. Beat multiple playoff teams in the east by double digits, the guy saying scrubs is just an idiot obviously

Boston fans are really not very smart. We all knew its not the brightest population base, but I would have expected more when it came to sports... Yikes.
