Wemby is good, but I think if we can add Jimmy Butler and a decent tall backup C like nick richards that cost really low (or starting to push Wemby to PF) besides Bassey is going to make this team a contender level. And having JB in can help keeping CP3. It's not funny to watch some of them having laughing face when the team loss in tight games, and some kids ceiling is quite obvious that it's difficult to make them become championship level player. But Hell do not add FOX as this kid has become a coach killer , attitude doesn't fit us at all.

Re: injury, he doesn't need to jump that high to ensnare a rebound or dunk or layup. What he needs to be careful about is his thin frame when he bang bodies in the paint. But that will take time. But I don't think he needs to do much in the paint. He is like a taller KD and has decent pull up, post up, and set shot jumpers.
@razr730 минут бұрын
The problem is honestly his height. His center of mass is so high that it makes it troublesome if a smaller player gets under him. He needs his legs and hips to get more muscular to have a stronger foundation and a lower center of mass.
@razr729 минут бұрын
I mean in terms of injury potential if his legs get taken out from under him on a play. Those arms and shoulders will have a long way to fall.

Grizz remind me of how the Bo Kimble/Hank Gathers Loyola Marymount played in the late 80s, early 90s, which shot the ball within 8 seconds and scored over 100 PPG in the 40 minute college game. Similarly, the Grizz clearly focus on pushing the ball up court as fast as possible to get the first shot off within 10 seconds. Being first in scoring and pace without being a top 10 3 point shooting team is actually insane and a refreshing contrast to chucking 3s. Big difference from LMU, is the Grizz play top 5 defense, too.

If the arguments for top 10 are there, then he's already top 10. The fact that he's getting mentioned for Top 5 cements that.

You're braindead if you actually think this. Luka is unstopable and a playoff riser that always goes off when the lights are the brightest, wemby is still very far from being unstopable, idc how better of a defender he is when Luka can hit clutch shots (like the one he hit against the timberwolves) consistently and create for himself and his teammates at the level he does. The only way you can make Luka not drop 35 a game is injuring him and even then he has the hunger to go out and destroy you, which is why he beat the okc last playoffs.
@RunandLift27 сағат бұрын
Wemby gets hate for the goofiest reasons. 1) he's too defensive. Same fans say nobody plays defense. 2) shoots too many 3s. Complain when players get hurt from forcing the ball inside. 3. He isn't that competitive. This is insane because Wemby is crazy competitive. 7'4/7'5 with Mamba mentality. It's awesome to watch

We need to talk about this other stat: Wemby went 21ish% from 3 for the first 8 games, but has gone ~40% since then. He had a slow start, but the man is an elite shooter, and even more crazy is that he could still be better. Completely agree with the playmaking section - he is still raw in this regard, but his court vision is clearly there. Also, the old heads don't understand that the muscle required to attack the paint is what has made Giannis and Embiid so injury prone, which would be even worse with a 7 footer. There is such thing as being too muscular.
@basketballreach6 сағат бұрын
I agree it’s not at all a bad thing for him to be taking so many jump shots right now. And for his playmaking I agree it’s not consistent enough to be considered elite but the flashes are undeniable
@SikoMC6 сағат бұрын
shooting 88% FT, 80% last season. If he can sustain to be close to 90% on the line, then you know already that he can be a 40% 3pt shooter. Wemby also played as PG in his youth. he got some playmaking in his dna! he wont ever be a playmaker like jokic, but only because he has a lot more tools then the joker.. If you are a lob thread, can fish the worst passes from 10ft out of the air without jumping and so on you want to give some kind of playmaking out of your hands and not do it all by yourself.. that would be wasteful! 100% agree with your 3rd point. specially in his rookie season with a much thiner frame, but even now.. the biggest risk for wemby are injuries! constantly "fighting" around the rim with guys that are 50 punds heavier then him would be "rekless".. when we look how giannis transformed in his first years in the league.. give wemby a few years and if he gets more muscular he'll be unstoppable!! but until then.. better take some shots more from 3 witout puting your body on the line! he's doing that on defence all the time!
@pickleig3554 сағат бұрын
i watch every spurs game and can say that is classic for wemby every single game he missed 3+ 3 pointers in a row then makes the next 2-3 and gets the % back its crazy he always starts slow and goes crazy in 3rd and 4th
