What's crazy to think about is how young this team is as well... they are built for now AND the future. It definitely reminds me so much of the early 90's teams that lead to the late 90s deep October runs. Definitely an exciting time to be a Guardians fan!!! ❤️💙⚾️
@Quakerman14 Жыл бұрын
It's hard for me to compare the 90s teams to the 23 team. K Lo, Omar, and Robbie Alomar would fit right into this team. But the rest were slow lumbering power meat guys (Manny, Thomas, Belle, etc) What I love about this team though is their never give up attitude. Down 6? No biggie.
@ktbear21 Жыл бұрын
@Jazbo_14 it's not a 1-1 comparison, but rather the idea that we have lots of young talent and a talented ball club ready for postseason. We currently have way more elite pitching than we ever could've hoped for in the 90s, but still struggle at times with offense. We also have a superior FO now, which is saying something. The contract extension recently have been absolute slam dunks and a welcome change for Cleveland fans, and I truly think we're one trade away from putting it all together.
@Quakerman14 Жыл бұрын
@ktbear21 I gotcha. And yeah, extending Gimenez and Ramirez, for home town discounts btw, was enormous. The window for a championship is open slightly more now.
@ktbear21 Жыл бұрын
@Jazbo_14 Ramirez choosing to stay in Cleveland has cemented his 🐐 status here, for sure. Gimenez getting extended for the length he did was a big surprise. And cannot forget about Clase... his 100+ cutter is one of the nastiest pitches in the game. Add in Straw returning to form and Trevor Stephan being extended, and yep, most fans are very pleasantly surprised. Now just need to extend Kwan 😉

I wouldn’t say that they reached the playoffs last year with luck, but We saw how they struggled against the Rays in the playoffs and how they couldn’t score a run. I think if the AL Central has stronger teams than last year they would reach what they reached, let’s be honest twins, white sox, tigers, and Kansas were the worst and every team walk all over them last year, that's why I don't think last year is a good year to judge them. Think runs for /against is only 13. Not exactly headline news. They are young, so what? Maybe we should be recruiting teenagers?? They are going to have starting pitching headaches all year long. Have still no power and are playing in the American League Central where the White Sox and Twins are loaded with power. Most of their starting 9 are "Punch and Judy" hitters. On most teams they'd be hitting 6 thru 9. They way overachieved last year , and succeeded do to the fact Twins and White Sox under achieved. I suspect things will be reversed this year, but as a Cleveland fan, hope Im wrong! God Bless Bruce
