great vid! would this affect someone with small hands? i have the iphone 15 prox max and i have no problems with the keyboard but would the added clicks keyboard make it longer and make it hard for me to reach the buttons?

I got a Clicks case and one thing that makes it amazing for me is emulating old Nintendo games. It’s so much easier and more fun to play with physical buttons. Id say its a great buy for people with the right use case

Delta, you go into setting and remap the controls however you like.

Yes I have been working on a project since 2021 which is very similar to clicks but its meant to be like the palm treo instead of a blackberry ive been using it with delta and its heaven for only 30 bucks too and slides into any compatible case an a LED backlight any color ive been loving using it

The problem with hardware keyboards is that they are always a compromise. If you make a landscape slider phone or case, you make a significantly thicker phone and a keyboard that can’t be used with portrait-only apps (which is a lot of them and includes the Home Screen). If you make a portrait slider phone or case, you can use it with portrait apps but the length issue is still an issue when you come to use it. If you make a portrait keyboard with a square screen phone on Android, you make a screen dimension that phone apps aren’t used to. The experience sucks no matter which way you go. Steve Jobs was right to remove it.

When it comes to slide phones, there is no compromise except maybe the size, which is hardly an issue evidenced by the fact that people carry giant phablets around all the time. another quarter inch for a slide keyboard would hardly be an issue, and let's be honest, they could probably rig some kind of slider keyboard that is also removable, which in that case, fixes the issue for anyone actually bothered by it. Aside from that, there's literally no compromise because there's nothing stopping you from just using the touch keyboard regardless of your keyboards orientation.

Apps aren't designed for square screens, so steve jobs was right? I love iPhone, but we could design apps for square screens as well.. Have had 4 BB passports, now rocking a unihertz titan (which is a rock btw) and almost all apps/sites work just fine actually.

@@mr.kroket Android apps are not designed for square screens. Games in particular would be an issue. Watching full screen video also won’t be as good. None of these things are impossible, they just won’t be as good. It’s a compromise.

mostly true, except touch screens are also compromises. You’re using your viewing port as an input, where your fingers (and the UI) cover part of the screen. You also lose out on physical feedback, forcing you to avert your sight to the input surface if you want to be precise. from a business standpoint removing hardware keys made companies more money, but there is definitely still a use case for physical inputs. This case seems like a good start, but definitely could be improved upon.

@@slickest123452 In the end, everything is a compromise :) Ballmer thought the iPhone wouldn’t seem to business because it didn’t have a keyboard. But the world has collectively decided that the benefits of a touch screen outweigh the negatives. It’s not just about “making companies money” - there are drawbacks to even having a keyboard of any type. Keyboards are moving parts which are subject to wear and tear. They are fixed in plastic so can’t change for different languages or if you wanted to add another button. They take up a significant amount of real estate whether you are typing or not. These are significant problems without even considering the drawbacks that each type of keyboard also brings. In the end the world has decided that for mobile, no keyboard is the way.

Not sure if MagSafe is a huge issue. I put MagSafe on my Clicks case in about five minutes for 8 bucks. It took about a week to get use to. I am flying now. I don’t think that I am any faster on the keyboard but I am WAY more accurate.

Yeah that would be the best to use case but I don't think they're going to manufacture them for the mini. Just because they don't make them anymore and it's such a small niche of users. I don't know if lightning complicates things either although I guess they must have worked with that with the iPhone 14

As of January 4, 2022, Blackberry stopped manufacturing and selling smartphones. The last phone they manufactured and sold was the KEY2 LE back in 2018.

I just git mine now and as i type on it I realize how hard it ids ti type on it and hold the phone at the same tine. The biggest pro is the screen real estate of not having the keys adore take all the spacx. As you can tell dispelling is hasrdf ion this thru my and im accidentally pressing do many buttons. Day too day use id say its a hard pass. My nostalgia died after trying ti use it. Also keep in mind usb is passthrough charging but wont work for CarPlay or transfer through the case Bless aburro correct helping me out at least or this comment would be easy worse

I don’t know why people coin this case as a nostalgic “gimmick”. It’s not. It doesn’t really feel like my old T-Mobile dash, which was nearly identical to a blackberry. Please after 15 years of only touch screen phones, it will take some weeks if not a month or two to get back acclimated to using a physical keyboard again.

Consider getting a Unihertz Titan if you can live with android. Cons: dimensions and weight (got used to it), potato camera, android. Pros: great battery, keyboard (copy paste BB ones), IP67

TIL that actually being able to type properly is "nostalgia". Apple and other big tech companies have succeeded in making the masses think that trash autocorrect made because typing easily is less importnat than consuming ADS, is the better way to go. How sad, you all are SO convinced by giant corporations' propaganda that you're actively rejecting superior user experiences in favor of inferior ones that prioritize distractionist consuming rather than productive creating. Laziness combined with trash software doesn't make it better dude, no matter how much money Apple, Google and Samsung have spent on marketing schemes to convince you otherwise.

Coming from a video from a cocreator of clicks cases they say it doesn’t drain battery it only plugs into the iPhone that then makes the keyboard work, like the guy LITERALLY said it doesn’t drain battery sooo

@@bauchuI sent them some screenshots with the case on and off. On the battery settings it’s showing 30% usage under “usb-c accessories”. I love this case so im just dealing with it but I would love to see some kind of resolution
