Agreed on all points Max, these C/A209 Mercs were so far ahead of their time and still hold up 20+ years later. I think the design alone is enough reason to buy, let alone the great engineering. Your CLK500 looks mint now! Congrats on getting her finished and on the road. Cheers, Serge

I’m 5ft6 and I have one of these. The journey in the back seat is tight for me, so if you’re a big person, you ain’t sitting in the back for long….😀😀

Great video Max, you have done a fantastic job on it. So glad we came along with you on the journey. Can see how proud you are as you should be.

Thanks Allan 😊 I believe people should take better care of their old Mercedes. These cars are very repair-able and DIY friendly. I hate to see people with average and low income buying expensive and high depreciation cars.

I have a 2005 CLK 500 with 154,000 miles, in the U.S. Great car. Needs new canvas top and I need to replace the top hydraulic cylinders. It works manually at the moment. Engine and transmission are incredible. About to replace valve cover and breather gaskets, cam sensor, O2 sensor and power steering pump. All of that is just maintenance work that it’s time to do.

Yes, very true. You can DIY the canvas replacement, I have 2 x videos on this. Cylinders Removal, I have the video too. Good luck and enjoy your Mercedes.

Hi Max! Love all your videos😃 I am an international student and I want to buy a 2004 CLK500, you know that I might propably not stay au too long because I could go back to my country. So I want to enquire that about how much it takes to maintain this convertible and is it welcoming in au ued car market that I can easily sell it when I back to my country? By the way, the odometer is 120 000km. Thanks!

Hi mate. I recommend you not to buy a CLK500 Convertible. As you are an international student it might take a lot of efforts and maintenance especially the Convertible CLK. You probably would be better off with a coupe if you really love to have a CLK500. But then again it depends to the condition of the car too and how deep your pocket is.

Your A209 still looks and will continue to look amazing after decades. Another reason to keep A209: if the anti-roll bar were ever deployed, you can reset it yourself b/c it happened to me. If you have the A207, good luck, it's a one-time deployment device and you need to visit dealer to install a new one so keep your A209 AT ALL COST. Newer Mercedes are low quality garbage !

Hi Brian, thank you. Yes you are 100% correct about A207. Yes it shoots the Headrests quicker than A209 but no, thank you as that can happen due to a big bump on the road. I realised mercedes is going down in quality when I wanted to buy a W212, t he interior is really plastic and no leather...

There should be a red plastic handle behind the right side trunk trim, pull it.
