In the Ahsoka segment, you forgot to mention how it makes zero sense for Anakin to be given an apprentice. The Jedi Order doesn’t trust him at all throughout all 3 of the prequels, but they for some reason trust him to have an influence on Ahsoka.

@@francescapatti2934 Oh yeah, there’s absolutely a lot of cool stuff that came from Ahsoka and Anakin (somewhat) growing up together. Not denying that. But for the sake of consistency in the narrative, none of it makes sense. And it’s sometimes hard to ignore, since the characters involved in this semi-plot hole are pretty major.

@@thehale_ Also, as mentioned in the video, Anakin doens´t act like in the prequels. He is a cool and mostly happy guy. His slow corruptin with the dark side doesn´t show throught the series with some rare exceptions, like the conflict with Clovis. Even in the last season when the timeline meets the prequels timeline and he falls to the dark side, there is no foreshadowing. He is the same cool, happy TCW Anakin, then Order 66 happens and he´s Vader in the last episode.

A couple of corrections: In the time before Episodes I-III, they weren't allowed to make stories in the time of the Clone Wars (Anakin's backstory, young Obi-Wan, etc.) but they were allowed to make stories far into the past, that's when the Tales of the Jedi comic series was created in 1993, which was the basis for the entire Old Republic era, including KOTOR. The Dathomir witches were shown, in their first appereance in the novel "The Courtship of Princess Leia" their appereance and the planet's heavily contradict what is shown in TCW, in the show they completely ignored how the Dathomir Witches, Dathomir itself, and the Nightsisters are supposed to be like and decided to do their own thing.

TCW introduced a lot of new characters and had a few good arcs, but it did introduce us to Anakin having a Padawan when it didn’t make sense contextually, especially not leading up to ROTS, when the whole point was that he trusted the Chancellor wholeheartedly and was isolated and distrusted by his fellow Jedi. It left him prey to a lot of the Chancellor’s manipulations. Anakin struggled a lot with his inner demons, especially with the stress of a secret marriage, and for him to undertake the mentoring and training of a Padawan doesn’t seem like something the Council would trust him with even if Obi-Wan was the one who suggested it in the first place. Genndy Tartakovsky’s version actually lines up perfectly with ROTS and the characterization of Anakin made sense as it showed a deeply troubled young man who wanted to help the people he cared for but was also prone to giving into his anger. It also showed how the Council knights Anakin during the war, which Filoni’s TCW doesn’t. By having Anakin be this mature, level-headed Jedi Knight (despite being a Padawan in AoC) who wisely mentors a Padawan then it’s way harder for us to believe this is the same guy who fell to the dark side. It also means there’s no character development for him. We don’t get to see him struggle or journey through the clone wars, learn lessons or even see his volatile nature. While I grew to like the character of Ahsoka, I felt like Filoni focused on her quite a bit and to the detriment of Anakin Skywalker. This show was supposed to lead up to the events of ROTS but all it did was basically focus on a secondary character and not on Anakin Skywalker, you know, the guy who eventually becomes Darth Vader…

Didn't know others felt the way I do about this show. I was thinking about making a series of videos about why I couldn't care less for CW 2008, not because I wanna start a flame war but just to share the fact that I feel utterly stuck in pre 2008 Star Wars. That's besides the point though. Truly, CW 2008 has few redeeming qualities to me when I consider what it could've been. What time and effort they gave Ashoka, Bo Katan, Rey's mom, and the numerous side characters, they could have given to Grievous and Dooku. They could have made those two characters far more sympathetic and enjoyable to watch than what we saw in the prequels but instead the focus was to make the jedi order basically evil and the separatists a bunch of cowardess roaches, at least that's the vibe I got. And the clones........ So Captain Fordo from the og CW was one of my favorite characters because he was no nonsense and got the job done without a word. Now he's gone into the void of the EU and replaced with soft baked Melbourne Aussies with what feel like your basic office insecurities. There are times when the problems really are upscaled and there's some weight but that just adds to the fact that, in the old CW, those problems didn't exist because they were cold, uncompromising clones. Clones used to feel like they were made of tougher stuff physically, mentally, and emotionally. Now they get curb stomped by a few tiny mando girls. Seriously, clones, made from the template of the most dangerous jedi murdering bounty hunter in the galaxy, trained from birth to do nothing but eliminate any threat by any means necessary...... legit bodied by a chick half their size in the final season. They're just embarrassing. I refuse to fully acknowledge Grievous's homicide, as the weakness contained in his canon appearance is too fragile to be described in words. He's most of the reason I loath the show in comparison to the og CW. Nah, there's so much to dislike about the show, feels like the firewall against criticism that the fans have set up is too strong to get through. It's like the show is untouchable and anyone who has a problem with it is objectively dead wrong.

I only watched Star Wars in the first place because I was watching Clone Wars. I'm a fan of animation and I approached the show from the perspective of someone who really enjoys American action cartoons. The first two or three seasons are a little rough but I'd still rather watch the first season of Clone Wars again than Phantom Menace. I did like watching the animation get better every season. You could tell there was a lot of passion behind it. It felt like a show that worked hard to be better every season and had to fight for the right to exist do to production circumstances beyond its control. With all the budget issues, gaps in production and cancellations its a miracle it came together as smoothly as it did, and while there were some issues I admire how ambitious it was, especially since so many cartoons like it aren't able to last nearly as long. It was a show that ranged from ok to brilliant and I think the ok moments where worth it for that brilliance. I was watching the Clone Wars recently and there was one minor character in two episodes who was treated in a way that stood out to me. Padme has a housekeeper named Tekla who is a working-class mom. Rather than give this woman a pay raise to this lady, who literally says in the show that she can barely feed her child, Padme uses her as an example in her Senate speech for why they need to pass a law or something and everyone applauds for some reason. It was confusing and made Padme look shitty. If this woman couldn't afford food despite working for Padme full time, and the writers want to make Padme look like a good person, Padme should've simply... given her a raise? She uses this woman's struggles to boost her own political agenda without doing anything to help her? If it came out that a politician was underpaying their staff while using them as props, that would 100% be used by opponents to make them look bad. And then, Tekla fucking DIES sacrificing herself for an espionage mission Padme sent her on. Not only was she under paying her, but she made this poor woman risk her life doing something that not only wasn't in her contract but was also... illegal? How many people have sacrificed their lives for Padme at this point? Lol. I know it's very minor and I haven't heard anyone point this out, but it highlights just how messy the writing of this show was and how the writers were totally clueless about what kind of moral lesson or political conflict they were even trying to spell out.

@@Vadim_Slastihin I watched it as a 30 year old after dismissing it in my teens initially and still found some enjoyment from it. You have to be dedicated to it (and I recommend watching it in chronological order, not release order) You won't find something comparable to the Lucas films, but it has its moments and arcs when it's good. I also liked Rebels a lot which draws heavily from Clone Wars. I'd still say the 2003 version is better and certainly better paced.

god this is so refreshing to see. i just finished binging this show for the first time and i was astounded by how much i disliked it considering the amount of praise and hype around this show. the plot is incredibly inconsistent and this show doesn’t know how to properly handle its characters with anakin being the clear example. the show should have delved into anakin’s mind further and properly showed his dissent and yet the show essentially threw the CANON movie counterpart and created this dude bro anakin. it’s lazy writing and an absolute disservice to hayden for his accurate portrayal of a teenager/young adult with no idea how to control his emotions. anyways fantastic video & it’s very refreshing to see others with similar criticisms.

3:03 Eh, dude, the Old Republic Tales of the Jedi comics came out before Phantom Menace. In fact, TPM even took the double-lightsaber design from Tales of the Jedi. Exar Kun was the original double-lightsaber wielder before Darth Maul came along and brought that to the silver screen. 7:25 To be fair, Satine was just a friend to Obi-Wan. Kenobi practically friendzoned her all those years ago, and he never actually had a relationship with her outside of the professional one, where he's her ally and friend, but nothing else. They didn't copulate, they didn't get too attached, hell, they even bickered a lot over politics, so at best, he's a lukewarm ally she sometimes calls upon. Remember than one time right after the poison Snapple episode, when Satine's own government overthrew her and her prime minister put her in chains and a shock collar? Kinky. But Kenobi was nowhere to be found, and it was Anakin's brat of a Padawan who saved her life. So yes, Kenobi did follow the Jedi Code to a T with her. He mourned her passing-for a bit, then he got back into action as if nothing happened. Classic Jedi. 15:31 You know why they put him in. Everyone knows. It's to get the fans wet, and that's what Star Wars has become after Red Letter Media and all those idiots blasting Lucas for not being good enough for the fans. So it's no wonder that they'd take a fanservice route with Maul, whom many fans believed to have died too early, and since KOTOR 2 already introduced the idea of Dark-Siders who survive enormous amounts of pain and survive (LOL Vader survives getting amputated and burned near a lava lake in Revenge of the Sith) they applied the same idea to Maul and had him come back. It makes no sense, but it makes the fans happy, so they went with it. Also, even in the original canon, the Emperor came back after getting ATOMIZED by the Death Star reactor, so Maul making it back with half a body wasn't anything new.

Best comment in the whole section. About Obi-Wan, I don't believe he actually got over Satine that easily, he just had to suck it up because that's what he unfortunately learned as a Jedi and, guess what, on the other hand he actually could deal with his emotions really well. Everything else you said I agree. TCW feels like a show made for prequel haters, like the RLM or HelloGreedo crowd.

Allow me to add validity to everything you said by saying I have actually watched every single Clone Wars episode. There are so many more problems with the show, but I think it is worth explaining why it does have it’s popularity. The answer is children of Star Wars fans who didn’t have anything better to watch. Most kid shows and adult shows for that matter are absolute garbage. But the clone wars is the king of the garbage kid shows because it had Star Wars, some mild violence, and some action, which if your flipping through channels as a kid after school, that’s the best thing to watch. But then these kids get older and want to believe that it was a perfect masterpiece and start defending every single plot hole like a evangelical pastor. They treat Dave Filoni like he walks on water and not like the talentless hack that he is. So they become conflicted when these crappy shows like Ahsoka and the Mandalorian S3 come out because they can’t come to terms that these other shows are somehow worse, and are easily impressed by lazy references to the Clone Wars. But these fans are a small, but loud population of the fan base, which I estimate between 7-14 million people. Point being the Clone Wars is so bad it’s forgettable, and most people don’t even know what the clone wars is.

I don't get the "what a clone is" argument. Biologically speaking, "identical twins" are "clones" as well but there are some differences in terms of looks and personality, because not everything about a person depends on the genetics. That said, the fact theat their genotype and raising/training was supposed to be specifically eingeneered to make them completly obedient soldiers SHOULD be taken into the factor.

"We modified them genetically to make them less independent than the original host" the problem is, that it is a retcon from the movies. They specify that Boba is the only normal human clone. To fix this retcon they added a really cheesy mind control chip to the clones, which only begs more questions than it answers. I originally wrote a much longer and in depth section about the clones for one of these videos, but I took it out, cause at the end of the day the clones have some of the better writing in the show, even if they aren't written in a direction I would prefer.

I agree. Altho personalities in the Prequels are written that way, one thing they did right was *set up* the change, while CW will change them at random just because it will make fans chill. Ahsoka never actually has her character change set up imo. She learns small lessons through out the series, but for one episode, and we don't really know what happened to make her grow up in season three besides a time skip. While in the prequels, Anakin becomes more restrained in Revenge/Sith, but he still has pride and a fear of losing people that he had in Attack/Clones Edit: Also, though I would argue Obi Wan is technically following the code by not indulging in his secret feelings, but I think he could and should find fulfillment in living the jedi life. 15:30 Alright. @@ventris425productions5 I disagree. Initially she was a nightmare but it didn't come across was foundation for development. The reason for this is in the earlier seasons the narrative constantly takes her side and even when she "fails" such as the Ryloth space battle where she loses her squadron she's never given much consequences. The same goes for later in the series where Ahsoka on one occasion disobeys Anakin and smuggles herself onboard the citadel mission and instead of a negative outcome she's rewarded for it as she becomes a vital part of the mission. Regardless of what the reasoning was or Plo's interference the narrative took her side as Anakin is the one who gets scolded instead. Even at the end of the series during seasons 7 she's really unlikable in the Mandalorian arc where she treats Anakin and Obi-Wan poorly and when Coruscant is under attack despite her growing up there and having spent time interacting with the citizens there she says that the people of the planet don't need her but the Chancellor does. This goes against what happened even in the Martez sister arc and made Ahsoka realign unlikable in that scene especially when she says that she's not trying to be fair and the narrative has her get her way when Obi-Wan in that scene was the only one not only being rational but also being morally reserved. I could go on but there are so many examples in the show of Ahsoka's character issues that I don't agree at all when people say she developed during the series.

My biggest gripe with the show was definitely how there are comics depicting greivious in such an interesting way in that his people (the kalesh) were very honourable warriors and when he exhibited natural talent in combat he was seen as a local hero in their eyes (hence the heros on each side line in revenge of the sith's opening crawl). But when he failed to save his planet from it's invaders in large part thanks to neglect from the republic he ends up fighting for the separatist cause as an unwilling cyborg slowly losing his sense of honour across the clone wars. At one point he even literally blows up an ancient temple showing him his past self and what he threw away and where it all comes to a head in son of Dathomir when he simply kills Talzin on cold blood completely turning his back on his roots and what made him so revered in the first place (doesn't that sound familiar). It just astounds me how they wasted such a rich in potential character and yet another facet to Darth Vader.

I'm a Star Wars fan and I also not a big fan of the Clone Wars, I somewhat found appealing yet my interest died plus just like how you point it out, it's somewhat inaccurate. One of things I don't like is James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan's voice actor), I never was a fan of his voice acting and he's also problematic in real life. I don't know why people will defend him but not Moses Ingram, Ahmed Best, Jake Lloyd, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, and the others when they were attacked. Plus the show is made for Prequel haters.

I’m going to slightly disagree with you while the show may not be perfect I think it’s a good show. Not only do we get to see the war from the clones perspective sometimes but we get to see characters grow. We get to see why Anakins faith in the order began to faulted, his slow turn to his more darkside tendencies. Maybe they could’ve done a bit more showing the impact of war and how it affects the galaxy but that’s not what the shows about. The show itself is about anakin and his journey while also adding more development at times to other characters like plo and such. I think the reason for that was to give their death more wait in the movies rather than just being another nameless face. Not to mention it also gives us a reason to feel sorry for the clones and how they could betray the Jedi so swiftly. So not only does it give growth to the Jedi but it also makes the clones more sympathetic. An example in the show being when Rex fights against the order only to fall victim to the chip and we have to watch him try to kill one of his greatest friends/comrade (not to mention he has to fight against his brothers once free of the chip). Though those are just my thoughts however, I would recommend if you haven’t to watch them in chronological order rather than by episode cause that’ll fix some of the story element issues you might have.

Especially, considering how originally Death Watch in OG comics of Jango Fett. Hell, originally Death Watch was just a bunch of terrorists that doesn't even care about traditions, hell, they straight up denied Resol'nare - Mandalalorian Code of Honor. Also only unique Clones developed their own personalities and tried to go against order 66. Nah, Imma disagree on the Clone point. One of things I didn't like about the prequels were how the clone (the things the fricken movies were about, THE CLONE WARS) weren't really very interesting. They were there... that was it. Yeah it goes against what they said in episode 2, but we do know there are different generations of clones, and the Kaminoans are probably trying to sell the clones as the best to Obi Wan. Giving the clones actual personalities, and making them semi independent but also incredibly loyal did wonders for the audience actually giving a shit about what at first was a faceless war. Plus, we do know that some clones are better at different jobs than others, judging that some are pilots and commanders and captains n stuff. They're less independent, not totally lacking in.
@illegalpancakes4594
@illegalpancakes4594 Жыл бұрын
see I feel pretty mixed on this, cause as much as I wine about how the clones feel too independent, the episodes about the clones are some of the best in the entire show. really what I highly dislike is the fact that the clones were mind controlled into committing order 66. it makes no sense that they had the technology to mind control the clones into zombies, and them not to use that technology for anything else. Its just a weak plot point that was shoe horned in to try to explain why commander cody turned on Obi-wan. The bad batch makes it even worse, its like they play heads or tails as to if the clones are independent or zombies. Don't get me wrong, that could totally work, but they never explain why, cause thats too hard (you made the comment about different batches turning out different, I'd be more than willing to accept that, but they never do.) I dislike the idea that the clones wouldn't follow a direct order from the president of the universe, unless they had a way to mind control them. its cheesy and feels like they wanted to make a canonical reason why the clones are good guys as opposed to making them later become storm troopers which was way more badass and what they did in legends. the battle of Hoth is way cooler when you know the troopers there are the same ones who purged the Jedi Temple.

@@illegalpancakes4594 The Bad Batch were mutations. That's a pretty reasonable explanation for the chips not working, and having certain members of the Bad Batch succumb to the mind control hammers that point home by implication. Leaving that aside, there have been other forms of mind control in the Star Wars universe. They just haven't been that prevalent compared to the brain chips. The brain chips themselves aren't used universally because the Kaminoans hold a monopoly on the technology. They're the only ones who actually know how to create them, and I don't imagine Palpatine would be fond of letting that technology get to anyone else. Not to mention the fact that implanting them requires a very specific process during the clone's development, and trying to implant the chip in someone would likely kill them (there was a whole episode dedicated to explaining all this). If you think the idea of it is "cheesy", fair enough. That's your opinion and you're allowed to have it, but I think the mind chip is a pretty good edition to the story, even if it's a retroactive one. It makes the bond they shared with the Jedi all the more tragic, and it coincides with the themes of agency and autonomy that the show often explores with the clones. How much of it is true loyalty and how much of it is just the mind chip? Also, no offense, but the idea of the clones being in service during the OT is kinda retarded, especially given the difference in competence (and the fact that stormtroopers look and sound nothing like clones). If anything, I feel like it'd diminish the clones' badassery.

4:56 - That's because originally TCW was going to be a direct continuation of CW 2003, it was gonna be in the time frame between part 1 and part 2 of CW. The CW designs in 3D look super odd. 7:33 - To be frank, in the Republic comics Aayla Secura and Kit Fisto had a secret relationship. I think that Obi-Wan having a love interest like Satine explains well why he'd understand Anakin and Padmé's relationship, because during the Clone Wars, both in the Obsession comic mini-series and TCW, we see he clearly knows that Anakin and Padmé are together. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, he had a love interest in the Jedi Apprentice books. 9:38 - This is one of the things I think TCW does better than the CWMMP in general. Yeah, sure, they're genetically identical but people's personalities are extremely influenced by life experiences. While they grew up in the same planet, doesn't mean they had the same routines, same training, same group of friends, and so on and so forth. There's also the Null ARCs and Alpha ARCs who are genetic enhancements of Jango Fett, while standard clones are genetic modifications os Jango Fett to be more docile and less independent. The Null and Alpha ARCs were Jango Fett on fucking trembolone (anabolic steroids). In the Republoc comics we can see Alpha-17's "extravagant" personality and, I haven't read the Republic Commando books, but from the excerpts I've read on them the Commando troopers there, like Omega Squad, and the ARC troopers have different personalities from one another, different names. Even in the Republic Commando game Delta Squad have different personalities and names, and we can further see this furhter independence as the war goes on in ROTS in Cody and the 212th. There's a scene of Obi-Wan talking with Cody and 212th troopers aboard a Venator before departing for Utapau, and we can see the clones without helmets and they have different hairstyles, further proving the point that they in fact have different personalities and demeanours. We just don't see much of this in the films because it's not important to the central narrative or secondary narratives. In the Republic Commando novels not all clones obey Order 66, especially those who were more independent. Furthermore, there were clones in the EU who deserted the Republic due to not agreeing with the war, or actually believing in the Separatist cause. While I agree with most of your criticisms of TCW, in others I feel you didn't really explore the CWMMP (Clone Wars Multimedia Project) that much. What leads me to believe this is what I said up there and also the fact that you didn't mention how TCW absolutely nuked the EU's continuity, plus if you're going to review a TV show, watch the entire show, not just two seasons of it and a few random episodes. I think TCW absolutely sucks, not only for its poor writing and mischaracterisations but also for the many, many, many ways it absolutely fucked up the continuity of both the EU and the films. I feel you just picked up a few things from Wookieepedia and Reddit and called it a day. Do better next time, please.

I love this show so much, and even I agree with some of your points, especially how lame Grievous was in this show! HOWEVER, there is at least one point that I think needs to be said if I say nothing else (because it is by far one of my favorite aspects of the show if I'm being honest). Clones. Humans are humans, no amount of engineering would change that in my opinion. Yes, a clone is a genetically identical copy of an organism but that doesn't mean it won't have personality or be slightly different. Personality is not a concrete, quantifiable thing that you can engineer. Obedience is not the same as not having a personality. You are obedient to laws/ your parents/ boss/ whatever, that doesn't mean you have no individuality or personality of your own. I'm by no means a genetic expert but it seems more than perfectly logical that clones could have their own personalities. Even slight changes in our environment can cause us to be very different people. Each battle was different, some clones were raised to be ship crew, others regular troopers, others ARCs and so on, that would at least make ones in those groups different from each other and it only becomes more possible as you factor in other things like which generals they were under, which bounty hunters trained their squad, etc, etc. If they all acted the same and had no personality, why would we care about the show at all, how would that have made it any better? Just because it's not accurate from your standpoint doesn't make it something that should completely ruin a whole story and make it bad. That just seems like a knitpick that would add nothing to the story if it were to be executed your way. Have your opinion of course, but if you don't even try to look past that and just assume Dave is dumb because he didn't google the word clone...well...idk what to say about that... I don't care about the droids, not because they are the bad guys, but because they all have the same personality (and to a point even that could be argued with the non-separatist droids like R2D2, C3PO, AZ, Toto and whatever other droid you can think of). It is not relatable or interesting to have humans behave so far outside of what they should. One character that way can be interesting or funny or whatever but to have a whole hoard of people acting exactly alike seems boring, stupid and a worse choice than making clones different from each other. I hope this makes sense and doesn't just seem like I'm mad because I don't agree. I respect why you had a few other views but that point about the clones straight up makes no sense. (Edit: Also, I know you said "supposed to be unnatural machines" but supposed to be and reality don't always align, cloning was not 100% perfect. As much as the Caminoans wanted to think they were perfect at it, they weren't. Even a few in-universe examples: Snoke and Palpy. Granted they were not done by the Caminoans as far as I know but still, they couldn't even get the physical part right, so I think a little variance on the non-concrete aspects is understandable. Ok I'm finally done ranting.

Thanks for your reply I both agree and disagree with the points you made. first of all you are right, giving the clones personalities does in fact make the show more interesting. some of the best episodes in the show are about the clones. from a story telling perspective and even a marketing perspective, this makes a lot of sense. I think I said this in the video. BUT... as you can probably pick up from these videos I get a little upset when this show messes with the official canon especially when they retcon stuff from the movies. I love the EU but I am a firm believer that they should never contradict or retcon something from the movies. In attack of the clones they make it very clear when the clones are introduced that they are not normal human beings, they are genetically modified to not really have a will of their own. They are designed not to be independent. This is further shown when they introduce Boba Fett, who they go out of their way to show doesn't have the modifications the rest of the clones have. If all the clones are already regular people, then how does that make Boba Fett special? George Lucas specifically made sure to point out and show in attack of the clones that the clones are more machine like in order to set up Order 66 in revenge of the sith. George wanted them to be more like robotic slaves that way the emperor would have an army he could use to turn against the Jedi, without any issues. Making all the clones independent and able to think for themselves ruins order 66, because it would make no sense for the Clones to turn on their Jedi captains, when they had no reason to. So how did Dave Filoni fix this problem? Mind Control Bro!!! First of all that is some of the dumbest stuff I have ever heard. Palpatine had the ability to mind control all the clones the whole time? It is such a cheap and shoe horned idea that makes the whole situation incredibly lame. They should have just left it the way George Lucas intended it. Why would they want the clones to only be obedient and such during order 66 but nothing else? Emperor Palpatine didn't care about the clones, why would he care about there personal freedom. what happens after Order 66? All the clones should by all means be pissed and turn on the Emperor. Maybe they all just stayed mind controlled afterwards? Why not have it that way, during the whole clone wars? I guess we will have to wait until the bad batch show... I also dislike how the clone wars act like it is such a big hidden secret too, despite it being shown to us in episode 2, but I already state that in the video. I wouldn't really be upset by any of this but since the show is canon, it bugs me a lot. Im not opposed to having clones with personalities, they need to be the minority, and they should specified to be different from the other clones, Like the Bad Batch or Rex from the comics. Also there still are stories out there that are about the clones that still shows them being more robotic and such. The Dark Horse comics the the Clone Wars show is based on had a really good issue about Commander Bly. If the clone wars is your favorite show you really should read the Dark Horse Clone Wars comics as it introduced Captain Rex, Asaj Ventress, and tons of other stuff years before TCW. Also the whole thing about Dave being dumb and not knowing what a clone is was meant as a joke.

@@illegalpancakes4594 First, I appreciate you responding back and clarifying your points. Thank you. And I completely see where you are coming from, not sure how I missed your intent in the video but whatever, I think I understand now so I'm satisfied. Also I've heard good things about Dark Horse, I will check it out, thank you. Now I see where our thoughts diverge on this topic (I hope I can find the proper way to explain this, please bear with me). As you stated, you don't like canon being messed with, retconed, changed and all that. You definitely are not wrong there, George Lucas is and always will be the authority on SW, it was his creation. Honestly makes me mad how people are so rude about him sometimes. So perhaps we can agree that this show would ahve been better as it's own thing but not necessarily in the SW canon? From my point of view, I already automatically separate it from the movies since it is not George's direct creation and I understand for others who don't do that, because it is canon and should line up, it can be frustrating when things don't. I've always felt this way and perhaps that's why certain things don't bother me as much. That, and the fact that I sometimes don't catch canonical inconsistencies because I am just enjoying the storyline or I make allowances for things that seem less drastically important to me personally. (i.e. the very thing that bothers you a lot makes sense to me to be in the realm of possibility and so I allow it to be literally maybe not so correct based on a few lines in the movie but could work based on my understanding/perspective/ignorance/ whatever you want to call it). I guess I just see it as no matter what is officially canon, at the end of the day I decide what I want from SW and if I get it, I'm happy, if not, I don't watch/read/play. So if decisions are made that change the direction and I no longer enjoy, I guess that's just how it is and I will just have to hold dear what I enjoy and ignore what I don't. I am not really fond of the sequels so I just don't watch them and hope better stuff comes later. I obviously have my thoughts, criticisms and opinions but my view is that since I have no intention of being the one to fix it, I move on and enjoy what I do have instead of pining for what will never be or what should have been. I suppose I just take what I can get and am satisfied, but I know that's not how many people view it. I 100% understand for those who are very attached to the story, George's story, it just seems disrespectful to deviate or makes little sense in some cases. I'm not defending myself, I see the error in my thinking and I know these instances of not caring about certain things can build up and continues these types of issues of being not canonically accurate. So all in all, I appreciate your informed opinion, definitely made me think and even changed my perspective in certain ways. I still love TCW for the flawed show it is and I feel it deepened my interest as a kid in SW and was a big reason why I am still a fan despite not liking some of the new SW stuff that's come out since the prequels. Personally think it would have been best to be left out of canon after Disney bought SW though and just be its own thing. But unfortunately everything is about money so whatever should or shouldn't happen means naught when it comes to dollar signs and then it adds to problems that create more problems that also have problems in those problematic problems hahaha. There will always be critiquing, disliking, loving, tolerating, annoyance, etc, I just go with the flow and enjoy what I can. Sorry for this novel of a response, I am apparently incapable of being brief.

No worries man! I too am grateful for your response and am glad to be able to clarify some of the stuff in the video. Its far from the greatest or clearest video on the internet. I also wanted to thank you for being professional about the whole thing, a lot of people just go "you wrong thus you dumb, watch the show again", which doesn't help anyone. I just want to let yo know that the purpose of my video wasn't to make people not like the clone wars but to really just point out it has a lot of flaws and that it is stupid to ignore TCW problems and then nit-pick other star wars movies to death. You can still love something and acknowledge it has flaws. I like the prequels and the sequels, but I still acknowledge there is a lot of dumb stuff and problems in them. I am also a huge Godzilla fan, and most of those movies are dumb as hell.

@@illegalpancakes4594 Yea, I prefer to keep it as respectful as I can. When there's disrespect there's little to no understanding and therefore no growth. All I wanted was to understand your reasoning, I feel like I achieved that and I actually now have a new perspective. And I agree, love of something doesn't equal ignoring flaws, it is acknowledging the flaws and yet not holding them against something unnecessarily. Thanks again for this nice convo!

Thank you for this. Your comparison of CW Anakin and sequel Star Wars Luke was perfect. I'm surprised no one was saying #NotMyAnakin when Clone Wars aired. And, YES! The show's treatment of Grievous was downright insulting. In Legends, Grievous actually WAS kind of a sympathetic villain because the Republic/Jedi almost wiped out his people and Dooku basically used him as an experiment; he pretty much loses everything, including his wife. It's heart wrenching 😢 There are however two characters that I happen to disagree with you on: Maul and Ahsoka. This might be in part due to my own bias, but I thought Maul was fantastic in this show (outside of Season 7, that is, where they turn him into Ahsoka's lapdog 🙄), and it's really not all that hard to believe he could've survived his injuries. In the EU, Darth Sion defied death by calling on his pain, anger, and hatred, and Maul lives for revenge, so it's not too much of a stretch. Plus, there were other characters such as Darth Nihilus who didn't even have a body; he just fused his soul with a mask. And now for Ahsoka. I was kind of disappointed that you didn't have more to say about her. She's honestly one of the worst characters I have ever seen. She's a total Mary Sue; the plot bends over backward to accommodate her. Honestly, she should've died half a hundred times but didn't because she's the writers' pet. She's an arrogant brat who treats everyone around her like utter garbage and yet the fanbase worships her up and down. She is genuinely a poisonous character. Anyway, I dropped a like and I'm looking forward to seeing Part 2 🙂

I don't have any problems with Ashoka strictly in TCW. Yeah she is annoying in the first season, but so is everyone. I do agree that Ashoka gets kind of ruined in Rebels and the Mandalorian. Bring her back to life via time travel is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and the fact that Filloni says she is still alive by by the end of Episode 9, is soooo dumb. it is pure mary sue.

@@OkIPullUp2915 He basically becomes obsessed with her and in the final episode he just blindly does what she tells him to do rather than using a perfect opportunity to kill her (seriously, her back was turned on him in the cell. He could've gotten the jump on her and totally obliterated her with the force like he does with the clones in the VERY NEXT SCENE but he doesn't. So stupid 🙄).

@Count Dooku Maul is superior to ahsoka and held back to her, it’s literally confirmed in a canon book list that Maul beats dooku, your old fool who was outplayed by Sidious was also beaten by Vos who struggled to Cad Bane 😂😂

the reason that Clone had a whole ark to himself is because he was a ark trooper and they were not like normal clones Ark troopers had far more freedom hand a normal clone so it would make sense for him to do such a thing.

Tbh, I only really enjoy Season 3-6. I think 1 and 2 is pretty mediocre, if not poor. Season 7 is heavily overrated and I don't find it that amazing except for the last 3 episodes.
