It wasn't just a ride, it was one of the most festive place in the efteling if you ask me. The Bob with De Steenbok and the plaza in front of it had always a realy good vibe. In the summer season it was the buissiest area in the park with a wild party. A artist made de Steenbok a club house and cald the club: Bob Slee Vereneging de Steenbok. For this was epic. Sadly, this is all gone and will never come back. A real shame 😭 a experiance like no other. !!! Also!!! The Bob had no height requirement. Is a child could walk, thay can go on. This was realy realy special. A lot of 2 year olds whent on it and LOVED it!!!

Another great video! I had no idea Claude Mabillard had something to do with the ride. It makes sense though as I believe the first project B&M did as a company was to create new trains for the bobsled coaster when it was at Six Flags Great America. It had operated with single row trains for years. The park asked B&M to create trains with side-by-side seating to increase capacity, thus starting the incredible relationship with the park, which would ultimately send B&M in to the stratosphere of the amusement industry.

When I last visited De Efteling a couple of years ago, I went in through the single riders as none of my group wanted to join me. The reason: they would hurt for hours afterwards after previous rides. I'm glad to have done the ride but I think it was just at the end of it's lifetime. Also, as an adult, of course it's a pity that the ride replacing it is a kiddie coaster. But let's face it, parks need kiddie coasters. I still recall visiting de Efteling with family as a 4-5 year old and being incredibly disappointed I was the only cousin who didn't get to ride any of the big rides - I distinctly remember Vogel Rok. Joris en de Draak with 110 corresponds to an average 5 year old. M&M with 100 cm to a 3,5 year old. That's a pretty big difference at that age. And if de Bob was built now it would never be certified without a length limit. Guidelines have changed in time.

Goodness, the little bit about the bobsled coaster in Rollercoaster Tycoon crashing was the main reason I was scared of riding the Bob, silly as it sounds! When my boyfriend came over (he's American, I'm Dutch) we had to visit the Efteling of course, and, conquering my fear, we went on Bob, a month before it got broken down... and it had a cut-out in the middle of the ride, so we sat there for like 20 minutes behind a buncha overexcited teenagers who wanted beer. We just found it amusing... me and my other half were professionally escorted out, and got a VIP ticket for another ride as well as coupons for a free drink. Good ol' Bob. I treasure the memory and ain't even mad, because I love the Efteling and their attention to detail, and how quick they came to our help regardless. I didn't even expect any sort of compensation but they still did. I'm super excited to see a video of it in English so I can share it with my boyfriend!

My mother absolutely loved this machine. We made it a family tradition the last few years to visit De Efteling every year. She was quite down in hearing it was going to be torn down. I myself will only miss it for nostalgic reasons though. I found the ride, though unique, to be very uncomfortable because of the guide rails. Made for a bumpy, almost painful ride when the track was slightly damp. (Although that did increase it's thrill value)

What with the lack of hills and speed, the very best thing about these rides is the novelty. In order to increase the excitement value, I think the tracks should be thoroughly cleaned and/or repainted every 6-12 months to disguise the route the trains take. For me, when you can see the dirty wheel marks, you might as well be on a standard hill-less, slow coaster. Anyway, great video, informative as always!

I have been on two of these bobsled style coasters: Disaster Transport (Intamin) at Cedar Point many times as a kid and also rode Avalanche (Mack) at Kings Dominion a few times last year. I had a lot more fun on Avalanche than I was expecting to but unfortunately I feel that will be gone as well within the decade. As I was watching this I said to myself "Wow! THIS is how you properly send off a ride!" What a true celebration of a local icon, it was very inspiring. I unfortunately feel like Max and Moritz is not a very worthy replacement though. It looks fun, but it doesn't have the interaction with the forest and it's a powered coaster of course which is a bit disheartening. It doesn't look nearly as exciting and surely not as unique as it's predecessor. I honestly feel like something such as a vekoma family inverted coaster like Dollywood's Dragonflier would've been a much better replacement here. Fantastic video as always!

People were very judgemental of it when seeing snippets of what it was going to be, and I wasn't entirely sure either. But I've been on it last week and I was pleasantly surprised, as are a lot of other people. It's definitely a worthy replacement! I also appreciate that it's aimed at children aged 4-10, because with the disappearance of the Bob there was no rollercoaster left that children from 1.00m could ride. Max & Moritz is amazing as a kid's first rollercoaster ride, just like the Bob was. I think they did a great job. :-)

Did you know that the Mack rides bob coasters track is completely bend by hand (and that’s one of the reasons the stopped making it as it is to labor intensive). During testing of the ride at the Efteling, some employs got to ride the ride while standing up. This was possible because it is a (relatively) tame ride and the roll cadge functions perfectly as a place to hold on to. Most of the time it was also common practice too keep the bob running during rain, however after an incident in 2017 when the brakes failed (due to the rain), the ride wouldn't be operated when the track was wet. This led to that, sometimes, after a rainstorm employs had to manually dry the track (using window wipers and towels). The rubber wheels also were a last resort, if those wouldn't have worked out (or have been suggested by Lex Lemmens) the ride would have been sold, so it was a really close call. (miner nitpick, but Loopins (as written in the credits) is spelled whit 3 o’s (Looopings)) For the next expedition Efteling I would like to see dream flight or the vliegende hollander. Have you ever had the chance to experience the BOB?

was sad to have seen it go, to me the bob was just as iconic as the phi-ton coaster. it was a ride truly for young and old. but still i do understand why it had to go, how older a attraction how harder it is to get spare parts and to fix the problems your facing with it. Still i hope that bob coasters will come back some day in the future, they give a experience that no other coaster can give.
