The extra emotion was definitely due to the fact that this 2022 edition was the first Post Corona Defqon. It was finally possible again after few years of lockdown. Hence the Phoenix theme.

Yepp true, and overall this phoenix stage is by far the best looking stage they ever made... the one from 2018 was also very nice (like a mixture of a bird and a crab). Now i am very courious about the 2024 stage as it is announced to be the 20th edition of defqon 1.. so 20th anniversary, i really expect something off the scale, hehehehe... we will see :)

Dude, you're a NY'er?? I'm from Long Island. I will (Hopefully. Having surgery complications right now) be going again this year. Will be my third Defqon. 2022 was so special considering it was post-Covid and most ticket holders had their tickets from 2020. We should trade socials. If and when you decide to go, I'll help you with everything. There's a few others from NY that go. There's also a lot of underground Hard Dance events in Brooklyn that I'll introduce to you. Kind of like a Defqon warmup!

I have been there that year and everytime i see it again, i get goosebumbs. Defqon.1 is a weekend festival starting at thursday around 13:00 till 23:00 and on friday,saturday and sunday from 11:00 till 23:00. Every night there is an endshow, the best one being the saturday show and at sunday instead of a endshow there is The Closing Ritual. Also at Saturday there is a show at 16:00 called Power Hour, a crazy show filled with lots of crazy things, inflatebles, redbull shows, the left right act and much more. There are about 160.000 visitors over the whole weekend. Its the biggest hardstyle festival in the world with around 350 hardstyle artist. 2024 will be the 20th IRL edition, we also had 2 online versions because of covid. This is the annivesery year, 20 years of Defqon.1 so it will be CRAZY. And im going so im really hyped.

I know from an inside source that the firework budget for the 2023 edition of Defqon 1 nearly hit €500.000,- Defqon 1 had its first edition back in 2003, other events such as Thunderdome by ID&T have been around since the 90's ;)

I was there in 2003 (and '04/'15/'16) Very different festival, still kind of the same feeling. Q-dance somehow always stood out production-wise. ❤

The reason so many people were emotional and crying was because it was the first edition of Defqon1 (or any party/festival for that matter) in 3 years.. This because of the "event" that swept over the world the years prior. And for a lot of them it was their first time EVER since the festivals have a minimum age of 18 years and up and when they reached that age, the entire world went under lock and key. And it was never certain these festivals would ever happen again as a lot were in severe financial trouble because of all the restrictions. So to be able to finally let loose after all those years was the reason for the tears. Thats also the reason they used a Phoenix as the theme on the main stage. To "rise from the ashes"

3:45 a lot of people look forward to this festival every year. a lot of people travel from the other side of the world to get there. some people party there for 4 days. to then be at the closing ritual is an emotional moment for many

This year the 25th anniversary will be held for the festival. The power hours are also great, but yes they are 1 hour long. But is shows the daytime insanity that they do. And you get to see how big the crowd is.

How they do it. Well lets say its only weekend ticket (there are singel day ticket and they are a bit more expensive compared) it's 70.000 times 330,- what they get from just the ticket sale. Parking your car os 40,- and the tokens(where you buy your drinks and food with) are 3,90(so thats an expensice beer) Thats where the money comes from to do this
