The coaster wars for biggest drop actually started with Loch Ness Monster June 6th 1978 (which was beat by Gemini at Cedar Point 11 days later) and ended with Kinga Ka May 21st 2005. That lasted just under 27 years, and now it's 17 years after the drop record was set.
