Given the legacy and history of the Coco Palms, I believe it could be an economic powerhouse for Kauai and a significant tourist draw. However, I also understand the importance of this sacred land to the Hawaiian people. It is my hope that a solution can be found where by the cultural importance of the property can be showcased & celebrated, and the people of Kauai can benefit economically. It is an eye sore for sure and gives a bad vibe when driving by. I can't imagine staying there if it was restored because of the road noise. I believe people go to Kauai to have quiet. Mahalo for the video!

I was born and raised on Kauai during the seventies through the eighties and left Kauai for Oahu during the winter of 1991, I remember very well how it was at the Coco Palms for the epic prime rib and luau they had every night with live music by uncle Larry and not to forget the torch lighting, back in the 70's when Kuhio highway was only two lanes and we could park along side the highway to go to Wailua beach, another great resort I really missed was the old Kauai Surf well before it was transformed into the Westin.

I think you used the term grotto mistakenly. Grotto is the Italian term for a cave. You probably meant to call the water feature a lagoon, perhaps, or a manmade river or waterway. Otherwise, I enjoyed the update on the Coco Palms and the restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed the drone views of the palm grove and hotel buildings. It is truly a one of a kind property with its unique history (pre-hotel and post) and location. Looking forward to its reopening.🤙

Sept 1992 - I was there on Kauai just a few weeks before it happened. I believe they were filming Jurassic Park at that time. We had just visited the Coco Palms and then it was suddenly destroyed. So sad. I remember the torch lighting ceremony while we had dinner.
