People didn't hate Bush. Bush didn't have to deal with racism, being called a Muslim, or obstruct him simply because he was on the other side of the aisle. 9/11 gave him a 90% approval rating and the unerring cooperation of the vast majority of congress. It was only at the end of his 2nd term that the country realized that it had been bamboozled and started scrutinizing him...and even then, it was upon the basis of his actions rather than who he was as a person. Sure, we all laughed at him when he got on national television and put his foot in his mouth, but that isn't the same as what Obama has to deal with. Obama has dealt with hate from day 1, and then tried to work with the people that hated him and had no intentions of giving an inch. No, Obama wins hands down. Bush's ability to ruin our country with near ubiquitous approval with grace doesnt even compare to Obama's ability to gracefully turn our country around carrying Republicans every step of the way.

He uses many "repeat" short phrases to appeal to the masses. Its literally a ploy he's has been coached to use because they think you're an idiot. I dont think he is primary issue though. He is literally too stupid, it's the party using him as a patsy to push their agenda, which is to divide the social classes even further as a distraction from what the 1% already know. The earth is dying and we have only maybe 50 years to correct the issues before its irreversible. The world is running out of clean water, even America. You have the wealthy using their corporations to buy up sources. And the biggest lie is "political parties". Amazing how you have 1%-ters in all parties, they all have "different beliefs"; how the parties switch back a forth pretty regularly, and how all the 1% benefits from whatever and whoever is in office. Nothing ever changes on a scale that actually benefits the majority (of either side) of our society anymore except the 1%.

To be honest, the Obama Presidency felt like something too good to last. Remember, our President before Obama was Bush, so it felt like we could just never do right. When Obama did get elected, it felt like a kid finally getting that new toy he wanted, he just had to be careful not to break it, made ever harder by the fact that other kids are constantly trying to break the new toy at school, claiming "The toy isn't really from the US!" and "This toy goes against all of my traditional, Christian values!" Metaphor aside, Obama was the first ray of light that America had seen in a while. Like a misplaced blind in a dark room, he provided just enough light to make it so we can see how a president should really be. Either Trump or Clinton is going to be ridiculous, but both of their approval ratings are so low that third party candidates, like those of the Green and Libertarian parties are actually being taken seriously for once, not even to mention how far Sanders got in the Primary. So yeah, the next 4-8 years are going to suck no matter how you swing it, but the fact that people like these can get as far as they can in an ongoing era of failed wars (starting with Vietnam), maliciously bad presidents like Clinton (Bill) and Nixon, and well-intentioned but destructive presidents like Reagan, it's really refreshing to finally have hope of things working out for the common folk. Oh, I completely left out that the Department of Justice finally ruled private prisons as against the law. That's the first real step we've taken towards benefiting the small man since, arguably the end of the Great Depression and the start of the Social Security system (not really, there's been other good stuff to happen for us, I just used that example to exaggerate my point).
@Joni_Tarvainen8 жыл бұрын
Watching these political happenings from Finland makes me wonder how Trump can possibly have so much support. When people ask why wasn't Obama lampooned like Bush and Trump this is the reason, there's just not much to make fun of him for where as Bush and Trump both basically made the jokes themselves. But you go back to Clinton and he was the same way right up until Monica, then he was the butt of every joke. Plus Bush kind of destroied the country, something that Trump agrees with and is currently walking down the same exact road despite knowing that Bush crashed the economy and got us into a major war for no reason? Really don't understand Trump he'll say one thing and then do another which is what you expect from politicians but with Trump he isn't gaining anything so what's the point?

This video entirely sums up the difference between Trump and Obama: the ability to not only take criticism without becoming angry, but the ability to roll with it and laugh at oneself. I felt this made him more relatable than Trump ever could be... Who is constantly on the defensive... Which is ironic, considering one of the apparent "strengths" of Trump is he's easily accessible, that he is more in-tune with the average American.

Dear Americans complaining about healthcare. Please consider this: here, in Germany and other European countries, we've been using an obligatory insurance for ages and it works pretty well. We all pay for it, and we all profit from it. This is called solidarity and it's the only way to garantee equality in terms of health, which is a fundamental right. So, if you are against it, you're just being selfish. And that's one of the biggest problems in the world. You think that everyone is taken care of if everyone takes care of himself. But this only works for people with proper income. The deal should be slightly different. If everyone takes care of others, everyone is taken care of. Call it the "Jesus way".

Now the Gov't is controlling the whole thing and it is worse .... Our systems are different you think there is only one way that Gov't can be done and goals achieved ?
@froniccruxis104910 жыл бұрын
Most other countries have access to the national healthcare system. Instead we are told we can get insurance through some company with a little bit of reduced costs(unless you are poor), except all the insurance companies costs have grown dramatically since healthcare was passed. I now HAVE to pay almost double for me and my family what I would have otherwise for healthcare insurance. I think national healthcare is necessary but when I can't afford my car payments and insurance and other necessities that get me to work then it becomes more of a useless burden.
@janinemyint927510 жыл бұрын
If the government was controlling the whole thing, then we'd have a single payer by now. Obamacare is different in that it is a reflection of mixing government and the private sector. This government is HELPING everyone. Before the ACA do you know who signed up for insurance? Sick people. Insurance companies always had a high risk pool because the healthy never sign up and the low-income could never afford health insurance. Because of that, insurance companies denied many people insurance and prices were always rising or extremely high. Now that insurance is mandatory/lack of insurance in taxed, the healthier people are buying insurance, lowering the risk pool. That's why premiums have not gone up. Also, before the uninsured would be rushed to the ER and never be able to pay for the exorbitant hospital costs. Therefore, hospitals would lose a crazy amount of money. However, now that many people have insurance, more hospital bills are getting paid. Now, almost everyone has access to healthcare and health insurance.

That was definitely the moment I decided he was not someone I'd ever support. Sure, Democrats might also do questionable things, but its not a matter of one side is right and the other is wrong - you can easily have both be wrong. Of course, that also means you can easily have both be right and make valid points - things aren't black and white. Stop labeling things by what side of the aisle they fall on. Trump is not someone that should be in charge of this country. It doesn't matter which side he's on for that to be the case. It doesn't matter whether other people have done bad or questionable things too - this does not negate what he has done. How terrible he is is entirely independent of such factors.

This ALONE is why Obama is an awesome president and a fantastically intelligent an charismatic man with his finger on America's pulse. You can BET he's not going to disappear in shame and go fingerpaint shit like some OTHER former presidents I could name.

+codzomz well they tried, but you know they have to respect the guy at the same time, he is their President and thus it can be a little difficult knowing where the line is between humour and pissing of one of the worlds most powerful people

+Hando Beatzs you know it's because all of us who are not conspiracy theorists hear so many unsubstantiated conspiracies that if a conspiracy theorist actually is right about one we still won't believe them because they continue to throw around these radical ideas; ideas that quite frankly their are nearly always a thousand different reasons why it makes more sense that they wouldn't be true. Ideas they refuse to criticize on their own and force everyone else to criticize for them.
