Pillar79 no actually Arkin, searched for every registered entomologist in a 200 mile radius from where he last encountered. 14 entomologists came up, the collector was number 12. On the radio they they mentioned a similar murder incident that happened in the late sixties, a father who ran a art gallery, went insane with chemicals of Taxidermy and slaughtered his entire family on thanksgiving except sparing his little boy, that boy grew up to be the collector and and that's where he would get his MO

I think thus was fitting. So many horror franchises, while often times good, have films that either rarely change things up or have certain elements depart from the original idea. Those often end up getting rebooted like Halloween and Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm street. Some movies like Saw are often too complicated for a casual moviegoer and Alien is having ti take more time with prequels and spinoffs and has to ignire specific movies. Like the The thing and Fly 2, The Collection provides a concrete awesome close that doesn't really sequel bait you. If there is a another one I feel it is only appropriate to have it be a prequel or have a totally different setting and cast of characters.

Why folks like Friday the 13th and movies that go on and on and get more ridiculous. This one was done just right. Why didn't it get more great reviews is beyond me. If you guys are wondering how the Collector escaped from the chute, the chute led to the room where the feral people were kept (and the ones that weren't caged were already killed by the mercenaries). When Elena shattered the cases with the sculptures, the water drain through the floor creating a "sprinkler" system that extinguished the flames. This was according to the director in the commentary.

+LS4N 3rd one could easily be made and the ending could be this. The 3rd starts with this scene from 2nd where arkin tries to put the collector in teh box, gets him in, teh collector escapes and hits some panic alarm at his house which like triggers distress call for cops, yet arkin still manages to get his ass in the box and since he has not much time before cops arive, he just uses that revolver and shoots through the box, empty all 6 or 8 shots, you see blood flowing through the box but you dont see the collector. Arkin runs away, after he runs away, you see the box door slightly start to open or smething and the colletors hand comes slowly out like he is opening it, then screen goes black. 1 year passes as the time frame in teh movie and { set up another story} collector is back again, seems he did not dies, etc. But the climax ending would be this. Arkin and whoever else in the story are at the last building collectors building or whatever and after arkin manages to keep escaping from collector and finally i dont know, traps him in some room and kills him in some way that we are not sure if he is dead and then he stumbles onto some room and sees the same red box with the 6 gun holes he had shot colletor through, the box is slightly opened with a hand sticking out, he slowly opens the box and out falls out the body of The Collector from 2nd movie, {same actor playing, same clothes} shows his face finally and he is dead with bloody bullet holes in his body, Arkin seems confused as is the audience, then out of nowhere the collector grabs him from behind and screen goes blank, movie ends. I guess I am getting at this. The movie ends with the fact that there was actually 2 Collectors, {one with full head of hair, 2nd movie, and the original bald headed one}. They could be brothers or something, etc. Set up for a 4th movie. Im just spitballing.

Shadow Lynx theres a bonus scene from this movie where Arkin is driving with the Collector in the box in the trunk and then he opens the box in his garage. It would be cool if while he is torturing the collector the Police show up and arrest the Collector. While in Prison the collector kills everyone and escapes and the story continues. It would be cool to see the Collector wipe out a prison

Technically there's no such thing as a closed ending if you're going to put it that way. What people mean is usually in situations like this a third movie isn't well done and with an ending like this the franchise would be tainted with another film. It's completely possible a third film would be incredible and this could be some cult classic horror trilogy but it's so rarely done well.

I love how cunning and in thought this character is he's not your average serial killer in a horror movie he's more like Michael Myers or other figures like that Jason Voorhees excetera more like Michael Myers in a sense that as you see him coming down the stairs or the minute years the music turn on he instantly back steps into the picture just like a serial killer would the instantly goes from chill casual regular guy ion the block to instantly on guard Like I said the only other person I ever seen in a horror movie to do this type of back step is probably one of two horror movie serial killer has one Michael Myers and the other Harry Warden from My Bloody Valentine When you got to think about it Arkin truly is a genius because the collector is not your average serial killer he is a very smart man with very smart knowledge smart enough to pull off a hundred traps and capture people and do this s*** for years and years without even getting caught! This is truly a smart killer not your average Dumbo and the idea that Arkin got the upper hand like this is an amazing Fete! This film ending truly does deserve a applaud because her ones your protagonists not only makes out alive but gets to stick it to the Killer without some sort of cliffhanger ending or some sort of all know the protagonist life is in danger ending know the protagonist gets the Killer and that's what's good about this movie So many films have failed for one reason their endings always suck because they always go for the killer they always go for the Money Maker the way to make more sequels and they never think about the story and when they should just kill off the Killer and let this series end this is what turn the movie like Halloween H2O into the crap that is Halloween resurrection and the reason why blumhouse had to do the reboot now the blumhouse film may even get sequels but let's hope that Jason blumhouse knows what he's doing and knows when he could finally put the axe on Michael Myers and put him six feet under which we all know is going to happen at some point even if his death in Halloween 2018 isn't permanent we all know that give it maybe three or more sequels enough for Jason Blum to get out of a sequel and he will kill off Michael Myers for good hopefully he doesn't kill off Laurie Strode because we all know how fans reacted to that last time and why I say you got to end your film franchise one year ahead and this is a perfect example of that there is no need for a third film because everything is wrapped up in a nice little bow

matt schwartz The Collector was an entomologist, which is why he had tarantulas, and collected bugs framed up in his hideout. And he had eyes similar to spider eyes, thats why they were black and shiny. He collected his victims like he collected bugs. Which is why this movie (the sequal) is called The Collection. The first being The Collector. :)

The thing I found really bizarre about this scene is that there is no car in the driveway of his house. That gives me the impression he lives in a neighborhood where it's not really far to get to places like his job or a grocery store. Feels like the Collector was trying to be as down-to-earth as possible. Also, I just noticed the books on his table. The one that really pops out at me is "Mutter Museum". After looking it up, it's absolutely clear how convinced Arkin was that he found his man. The radio show just further confirmed his suspicion.

You know, this is one of the best horror MC who is not a pussy and managed to actually be smart about going after the killer, just so he can make him suffer. There should not be a 3rd movie, this ending is fine. This ending reminded me of one of the episodes in Masters of Horror Season 2 Episode 6 "Family". If horror slasher movie were to have more competent MC like this then it would have been much better. After seeing this ending, I was cheering nonstop for Arkin as he finally did what other MC in the other movie wouldnt do.
