On top of that, he also runs a media company called HartBeat Productions. And on top of that - and what brings us here today - he's also a legit watch enthusiast.

@@jimbojimbo6873 Agreed but having conversations with interesting people about watches is something he seems to enjoy. To a lot of old Hondinkee fans he is still the face of the company and if you read the comments, most of those fans are not too keen on the new corporate approach.

Sometimes it feels like a lot of celebrities are just anointed with watch knowledge from day one but it's refreshing to see that Kevin came into the hobby the same we all did, just by being interested in time and had the same journey as us. Start off with fashion watches, get some 'well known' pieces, get burned on vintage and eventually figure out what works for us in our day-to-day. For one of the world's best known collectors, that was brilliant to hear. Ben is absolutely brilliant at these interviews too. Hopefully this lends itself to more of these and we can get Mark Wahlberg, Jackie Chan and Corey Gamble on with their full collections.

"Annointed with watch knowledge from day one." What? It's either you care about it enough to learn it or you don't get it at all. No one comes out just knowing about all watches. Plus, a lot of people nowadays are only into watches because they believe it is the "it" thing to do. I remember going to a hodinkee meet-up where all that was there were watch nerds like myself. Men and women alike. I loved it! Ben used to bring in some of his personal pieces and talk about it with all of us. It was a great day and age. Now, it has become a circus. There are people in this watch game who don't even care about watches for the beauty of the timepieces. They just care about what they can sell it for. It's a scarier world. But, as the saying goes, "you just have to roll with the punches" and keep it going.

Kevin seems like a nice guy. His take on watches is funny. "Nobody knew what watch I was wearing" is the basic thesis of why he gets into serious watches... completely opposite from most collectors who would tell you to buy what you like and buy for yourself instead of trying to fit into a club. Kevin is so big now he could probably make invicta cool to a group of people but he's still trying to fit in. Honestly interesting.

Everybody into watches are trying to fit in (in my opinion). It is just a matter of what ballpark you are playing in. Some really high end watches may not be known by the average person (giving the illusion we do not care about fitting in) but at that point you are playing ball with the group who "when you know, you know" as Kevin said it.

I would really really love to see Jay Z on TW! He was collecting watches way before any other significant pop culture personalities were flashing them. I remember his Hublot phase, when he obsessed over AP, down to his blue sapphire RM. He never followed the pack and I bet he’s very well versed into the significance of the houses and references he selects. Ben - make it happen!

I don't know the exact ref, but, I noticed Kevin Hart was the first person I saw with the rose gold Daytona Cosmograph with black ceramic bezel and brown dial with the Arabic numerals. That was one of my favorites as the colors look so warm and rich and is unique for a Daytona.
