This is such a wonderful book. I loved that things turned out so well for Norvia and her family. Uncle Virgil truly loved and cared for his new step-children. I’m really hoping there will be a sequel. Thank you so much for choosing this book. ❤

This sounds like a wonderful book to read with middle school students. It would tie in with a history class.

I listened to your interview with Anna Rose Johnson but only read the book today and it was so sweet and wonderful! Thank you for the recommendation Miranda and Donna! And thank you to the people who left their thoughts on it. I enjoy people's opinions almost as much as the books :)

I really enjoyed this book, and I've enjoyed hearing your discussion of it! I particularly liked the sympathetic treatment of stepfamilies, as you both pointed out. My mother came from a blended family in which there was a lot of love, so that was great to see. Also, I always love a bookish heroine. Thank you to both of you for choosing this book!

Hello Miranda and Donna. This was a lovely, sweet read that I enjoyed very much. Norvia’s first day of high school did have me recalling my own anxious time entering the big world. Overall, the close feeling of family enjoying the evening on the porch was wonderful. An excellent choice for these uncertain times. Thank you.🍂

This book hits all the right notes! I tend to approach new- to -me middle grade books with trepidation because they can be tricky to enjoy. However, The Star That Always Stays is a real page turner that is not too saccharine, simplistic or unrelatable. Johnson's novel is nicely balanced in all ways, and a pleasure to read. I predict it will be a modern classic.
